Konata vs Kuroko is the most surprising result for me this time. Konata had looked like she was improving a lot as of late while Kuroko looked to be on a downward trend. Then this match makes it look like neither had changed a bit since Amethsyt 1. I wonder if this was a one time fluke of their true strength was just hidden by unreliable matches as of late. Mikuru looked pretty good in her match with Sora. She just barely missed breaking 60%. Mio looks good in her match with Yuri while Eucliwood underperforms on Charlotte. I was pretty sure Eucliwood was stronger than Mio but it looks like it might be pretty close in the end. Speaking of close matches we had a few of them today. Before the matches, I felt Yuki and Ui had a slight edge over their opponents and they managed to hang on to it. I expected Lingyin to have a bit more breathing space in her victory but she ends up winning by just a single vote!

Well, one good thing about these latest results is that it proves that every vote counts!

I might not like how many of these matches turned out, but it's nice to see some very tight victories.

Why are people surprised Index beat Rin...Rin has had a bare minimum pulse showing this season. Why should a loss to a Tier 5ish character be surprising? It's clear that whatever new voters came on this year just don't like Rin. Her past solid performances won't be continuing anymore.

Nice to see some super tight matches at least.

Seeing as Index didn't even make it into the tournament last year and Rin finished 17th without UBW to help her then, I did expect her to beat Index.

P.S. Is anyone able to view the charts[time/location] for individual matches this round? All of them dead link for me.

Before that match, Index was 6-12 and Rin was 2-16. It isn't an upset based on their performances this season.

A lot of the new voters that came on this year perhaps simply haven't even seen Fate/Stay Night. It has been a long time since that anime first aired, after all.

I know that when "character I mildly like" goes up against "character I don't even know", I always vote for the character I mildly like. So I really can't blame other new voters for doing the same.

The importance of which anime show a character stars in is clearly important. The sheer numbers of Angel Beats!, K-On!, and Infinite Stratos characters in this is suggestive here. More people have seen these shows, and so each of the female characters in them gets a chance at a potentially wider fanbase because of it.
