I forgot to put these in my previous posts, Akagi and Kaiji. I just hate their sharp noses but they still good shows though.

Yeah, sometimes the whole experience can get completely ruined just because the art style isn't your cup of tea. Afterall, an anime isn't an anime without good enough visuals to support it.

I generally tend to dislike shoujo, but of course it ultimately comes down to the facial details themselves. The style employed in Itazura na Kiss - with its strange mouths and jarring eyelashes - certainly didn't click with me. Kimi ni Todoke, in contrast, fared much better.

Also, there's no eye poison like a good 26 episodes of Persona -trinity soul-!

Also, the animation style Toei used looks inferior to the original source or even Kyoto Animation's versions of Kanon, Air and Clannad which looked alot better than the Toei versions.
Ditto. Toei is like hell when compared to KyoAni.

I nearly forgot about Churuya-san, it had the weakest and is the worst art style from any works by Kyoto Animation so far. Even Haruhi-chan looks better than Churuya-san. I know it's susposed to be like that, but I am not to fond of it.

I'm not sure what overall art styles are the worse, but two of the freakier aspects of the art styles of a couple older anime always bothered me.

One is the noses of Escaflowne...

Spoiler for Escaflowne kiss scene:

The other are the legs of XXXholic...

Spoiler for XXXholic long legs!:

These aren't bad animes, really, but I found it hard to enjoy them due to how these physical features were really exaggerated on a lot of characters, and hence stood out like an almost constant sore thumb to me.

You see a little bit of XXXholic's very leggy art-style with Code Geass, but thankfully its toned down a bit compared to XXXholic.

I'll echo a few already that've already been posted along with a few others in the thread:

- Kanon 2k2 by Toei.
- xxxHOLiC's lanky-ass leg bugged the crap out of me.
- Higurashi's game artwork (i can forgive this somewhat since it is fanmade after all)
- Noses in Akagi and Kaiji are definitely beyond ridiculous
- Not quite art-style per say but Dear Boys had absolutely horrendous animation.
- 1st Minimi-ke anime had the ultimate art-style for the show. Later season's paled by far unfortunately... =/

- Speed Grapher: the beautifully drawn OP and ED are like from a different show

- Gundam Seed: everyone looks the same

i said these purely based on their art/drawing, i actually finished watching the shows above

Nah, I don't think its that controversial but I agree. Those eyes were really creepy for me, and one of the reasons why I dropped Clannad right away.

I would put Inuyasha in the same category, the faces design for the characters are virtually the same and no real distinguishable feature, even between guys and girls. Which is kinda of creepy.

Can't get into the more extreme Bishonen art styles with Clamp being the worst offender. The more thin and angular the character designs, the more I dislike them. Examples: XXX-holic, Code Geass, Fatal Fury, Weiss Kreuz, Ouran High School Host Club.

As an avid lover of the shoujo-style, I'd have to say "That would be pretty ugly shoujo!!"

all of those 3? the before look is just unbearable, the other 2 are just comparisons of what it is now.I started with the anime then I read manga where it had that new look which I eventually grew to like, but the before look just messes it up,IMO anyway

simpler I like the other 2,but the before look I don't

To add on I liked code geass but the characters limbs were too thin, I mean haven't you seen that pic with his hand over his face covering his eye

Yeah, Lucky Star's art style isn't that good.

I thought about choosing Lucky Star myself, but... I gave it a pass since Lucky Star is a pure otaku comedy show (i.e. the anime's visuals aren't that important to what the anime is trying to accomplish).

I don't think LS's art was meant to be "cutting-edge-amazing" just "cute".
Which it accomplishes well. Simple but cute. It was based on a 4koma for Pete's sake! Has anyone seen amazing art from a 4koma!?
