My guess was mostly right. Kuga is out to get Toru for revenge. She attempted to confess to the guy she likes back in chapters 8-9. What I got from reading the "previous chapter recap" from the chapter 14 raw is that her crush lied to her. From the screenshot, she didn't look so good there. My next guess is that her crush pretended to accept her, and then roughed her up for associating with the Iris Zero (people clearly knew this from seeing her hang out with him during the school trip). For this, Toru will suffer.

Half-translated, possibly wrong line: "I knew it... you are the worst curse one can hope to see..."

I'm beginning to suspect Tokita more, because he's childhood friends with Kuga (this is not news). This means that he has her best interests at heart, and if he knew what happened to her, he would probably plan something to return fire. Then again, he could be completely uninvolved and is moving to stop her, who knows.

To be a devil's advocate though, you *could* read Kuga's actions as her being protective to Koyuki and Yuki, because what happened to Kuga can easily happen to them. By taking Toru out of the picture, she would ensure her friends' safety.

Kuga definitely gives off that vibe that she'd cave easily under peer pressure. Even more so to someone she likes for whatever reason I suppose.

You can think about it in the prejudiced perspective of the people in that world: Kuga's decision to hang out with Toru had contributed to her major crush treating her like trash. Her association with him caused this to happen. Koyuki is close to him too, so the same violence can happen to her, just because she talks to an Iris Zero.

I look at some of the scans too and believe me, I am half and half with her, one half is that I feel kinda bad for her, for being used and abuse by that jerk and another half, hoping that she gets her at the end, you dont do that to your friend because you are Guilt by Association.

I think she's just easily twisted because of her ability to see how others feel. She's not a simple character in the least - her Iris ability brings on an even more complex set of problems and advantages than Yuki's. It may be simplifying her thought processes because she may think that what she sees is what people are all the time. You can genuinely feel one way about a person and then feel completely different when you're face to face with that person.

She may also be trying too hard to change people's feelings to suit what she wants to see. I wonder how long she has tried to get her crush to look at her while feeling in love.

I just read two center color pages on the Monthly Comic Alive website. I'm convinced that Tokita is not malicious... just very cautious and distrustful. He is definitely worried about Kuga.

Second, while it was only one chapter for us, it's been years for Toru. Yuki exposed Toru when they were elementary/primary school students. They are now in high school.

Finally, it's in Toru's nature to understand and forgive Yuki. He solves mysteries by placing himself in the position of the culprit and understanding the person's motive. Like Hijiri said in ch4, it's Toru's defense mechanism to understand others. If Toru can understand why other people act the way they do, he can be more tolerant and forgiving.

That, and really, he started it. He of all people should have known some people just want to keep their Iris a secret. The consequences for him were worse than for her, but all she did was retaliate.
