Considering that a single chapter made an entire arc seem pointless in comparison, it was a bad idea to revisit this story after it was concluded. Should've just left it as is and not try to milk it any further. All this is doing is emphasizing all of the negative aspects or gripes people had with the ending and it's further hurting the quality of an already poor conclusion.

A prequel or a spin-off focusing on characters who aren't the main trio could work, but focusing on Masamune, Aki and Yoshino is instantly a bad idea and this chapter captures that perfectly.

I was contemplating picking this up to see if I could find closure for the ending, but after this chapter, I'm not bothering anymore. I'm dropping it.

The previous SP they acted like anything but a couple.
Author went all his way to make all females to fall for MC but refuses to make the Mains behave like a couple and puts convoluted asspulls to make Mains wonder about their feelings for the Nth time.

That's shitty of people, regardless of an author's intentions at the time.
An author/editor may want to keep the status-quo to keep as many readers hooked up as possible.
Then comes the endgame, and the author has to make it work the best they can, the way they may have first envisioned.

True, it sucks that readers are fed false hopes only to get dashed at the endgame.
Also true, a story should have the audience in mind as much as the author's goals.
But the publishers' main goal of these serializations is to sell as many copies of each volume as possible.

Why can't people keep those elements in mind when investing on a story?
I do, and when a story goes a way I wasn't expecting I usually simply react like "Ahh... Really? Oh, OK. Moving on..."

They pissed me off, I just don't have to read their work anymore

There are still many stories in many mediums from many countries yet to be enjoyed

Forgetting 1 shitty author is super easy, barely an inconvenience

I experienced a lot, but this whole franchise is making me perplexed. Main manga ended 5 years ago, some one-note releases followed, but last release was 3 years ago. Now they just continue the manga after a big timeskip. A sequel that starts with calling it Chapter 57...

Bruh...

Is the manga or the ending critically acclaimed in Japan or something? This reeks of forced continuation, milking for even the slightest bucks. Did the other work or works of the author flop?

Regardless, this is just a heads up for anyone encountering the work. Never liked Aki, never will, don't care for Aki/couple wank.
