DREADED episode 8? I thought that was one of Macross Frontier's high points. For once the show let its hair down and had some fun. I think that show was sorely missing in possible school antics that could've tied in with the overall story. Anyway, that show was too ambitious to end only after 20 or so episodes.

The problem was that the show was not supposed to be that kind of show. I am glad you enjoyed the episode, but i think they could have used the episode better. Back in topic,
I think an episode like that will fit much better in a show like basquash.

Meh MF had the budget when it mattered I.E. the battles.

As far as what would work for this show...Honestly I have no clue where this show is going to go after the first episode...Trying to get to the moon? Trying to dismantle Robo Basketball? I'm hoping for maybe some genuine antagonists to show up in episode 2 atleast.

I dunno, I'm skeptical yet. Yea it's bright and has some great artwork but it's hardly the first anime to have such. The storyline so far has not impressed me. I can see it being the type where the storyline gets added to every episode as a way to push the story along (deux ex machina) but nothing really gets resolved or explained. OTOH maybe it turns out to be another FLCL (I can dream, right?).

Well, it is obvious what Dan's problem is. He is easily distracted, his heart is in the right place, but he can't stay focused on the big piture. See how easily he abandon his duties just to go and compete and prove he is the best.

The Opening^
It's like SHOE-porn. Too many clips from the first episode in it for me, but still pretty good.

Can't wait for the sub of ep 2 so I can see where this is going.

Big breasts we're annoyingly big and didn't suit her at all.
Childhood promise was sudden and facepalm worthy
Sister's "mysterious drama past" another facepalm moment

Pointing out some bad things about a otherwise cool show

If you wanna nitpick, then yeah, they were unexpected and sort of a "okay, a bit cliche there..." sort of way. But those things happen. I think. Maybe. xD

In case anyone, like me, was somewhat disappointed that the OP shown in ep2 was actually more or less a MAD with scenes taken from various episodes, here are some good news from the Catsuka forums - it isn't the final product, the real one just isn't entirely done yet. We may expect it in episode 4 or 5, it seems. Color me pleased, I thought the song had much potential as an opening, that sadly wasn't put to its best use with a scene montage...

(I kind of only post here to translate bits of the French posts, I hope this doesn't bother anyone...)

I thought the 2nd episode was pretty good myself, sure it was a bit heavy on the fan service, but that's to be expected with a character like Miyuki around.

As for the flow of the episode, I thought it was still well paced, not too rushed and not too slow.

The OP does it for me. Those three -- Tomatsu, Nakajima, Hayami -- are like three dragons leaping forward to play with the flaming pearl. Even if there are moments when they do not combine perfectly, there are others when the combination is sublime. And they continue to have their own voices.

The show? Not so much. Like, where are we going and why should I care? I do like the mecha and their movements, and the backgrounds, though. And the opponent with the slinky white ferret-like thing.

episode 2 another great episode not as epic as the first one but still really good so far. Kinda funny....just when you think the main character is about to make a cliche epic moment he gets trashed down completely the opposite of what you mostly see in other anime main characters.

episode 2 so far so good
