Souko No Strain and Soukyuu No Fafner pop immediately to mind.
Also Tactical Roar Stratos 4 and Stratos 4 Advance "The Third" (Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo) is an AWESOME anime! *gushes Goofus* Honoka and Bogey, her faithful sidekick/Sand-Tank, are both really great. |

I would recommend Appleseed 2006 as it hasn't already been listed here ^^
Mostly focuses on mecha, but you also can't go wrong with any of the gundam series. I would recommend Gundam: Seed or Seed Destiny if you're not sure which ones to try. |
