hu...? grandpa?
it is probably 叔父さん, which means oji-san. Oji-san can be used for (middle-)aged man, but also "uncle". (this is the same for women, you can use 叔母さん, oba-san, for (middle-)aged woman, and aunt. this is why using this word can be "offensive" )

Family wise, despite they are not exactly old (between 20's and 30's), Shigure, Ayame and Hatori are Kisa's uncle, but also uncle for various sohma members as well.

Kisa might have been doing it out of some sort of respect...or maybe she said it in error..or...it was an error on the translator's part!!!

I'll have to reread the other 16 books that I have. I don't recall them saying it...unless they haven't said it YET in the books that I have (if that makes sense! tee hee)

hmmm... you're right! I guess she's doing it in some sort of respect to the older Sohmas. Thanks for clearing that out!

Well seems like im in the minority that has read through the entire manga, but not seen the anime.

Sigh either way it was a truly wonderful experience to read through the whole thing. I think it did what shojo does best and thats fleshing out all the characters and doing a great job at portraying their thoughts and feelings.

Ive been reading too much shonen crap lately so it was nice to find a story that genuinely touched me for a change instead of being quickly forgotten. I'd recommend it to anyone that has interest in relationships (And not just of the romantic variety )

I've seen the anime, but the manga have not all come out in the States yet, so, alas, I must suffer.

I know there is enough in the manga to make another series, although I doubt they'll do it.

Actualy oji-san means uncle in japanese,I know I study it.

Look here for the translation to family terms:

Yes I went...ahem "searching" when I got to the end of the US releases. The series is so great I just got impatient.

Anyway Ive started on the anime now...So far its cute and I really like the voices. Haven t heard one yet that didn't match the character perfectly. If the show ends at where Ive read here though it seems like such a horrible waste for there to never be a season 2...Good stories are hard to come by and this one should definitely be told in its entirety.

hey all
I just finished the anime series recently, and want to get into the manga as it continues the story. I was wondering what chapter of the manga continues the story, or should I just begin from the start and read from volume one of the manga?

Dave =)

chapter 33 is techinically the end of the anime but you might want to just read it all anyways since there are differences between the anime and the beginning of the manga.

Wow, nobody has posted in this thread in ages. What's the matter with ya'll? HAVE YOU NO TASTE? FB is the best series eva. Kyo is the hottest thing walking. Annnnnnnd in one of the episodes one of the fangirls refers to Yuki's hair as being SILVER. Umm, silver?! It's clearly purple. She obviously doesn't love Yuki enough if she doesn't know the color of the brotha's hair. Imbecile, I tell you, imbecile.
