For a moment I thought this was about the protagonist reincarnated as a literal tank.

Oh, so it just wasn't me. But no, this looks to be straight fantasy... albeit within the whole "Skills" and "Expelled from hero's party" gimmick that's become a lot more common from the description...

I think I would have preferred the tank.

The title misled me to think the story is about a different manga. Tank character in JRPG is the team member who take on all enemy hits. The manga I read is about a sword fighter whose ability is to attract and repel all enemy attacks. So, his party members can safely deliver minor damages to strong monsters. This story has the protagonist who use shield to damage opponents.

Its funny, yet strange that they thought of reincarnation into a freakin' vending machine, but not a tank . Then again, although not quite the same thing, there is GATE...

They thought of it many years ago in "Those who hunt elves", and since that time nothing can beat cute kitten isekai'd as tank

Rud is another "supporting character" gets kicked out from the hero's party. He still has to worry about the expense of his sister's treatment. On his mission, and his way home, he encounters Luna. Luna turns out to be a capable fighter. She becomes Rud's new fellow. She also acts like Deckard Cain; she is able to assess Rud's ability. Rud has better understanding to his skill tree.

Pretty generic long title nonsense but I might give it another episode or two.

I mean... the hero acts like a scumbag pervert in front of his party and everyone in the guild and nobody says anything?, not only that, the twins that know he is good and the girl that is in love with him, still stay with the hero?, there has to be a reaaaaally good reason for that since not demon king has been mentioned.

I like the kicked out of the hero party genre but there are better ways to do it.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why those girls stuck with the hero when they clearly weren't happy with it. I'd hope in the original perhaps he told them to do so due to his overall personal agreement with the "Hero's" sentiments. Otherwise some justification would have to be given for why the characters feel that they have to stay with the "Hero" despite disagreeing with him and I imagine disapproving of his perverse nature. Well, at least the OP seems to suggest that they'll come to his side sooner or later.

In any case, the one thing I'm not fond of is his "Life Conversion" skill. I'm not sure, but it kind of sounds like it can/will be used to make him into a powerful offensive character. Honestly, that's one of the things I dislike the most in all these expulsion series: the hero always starts out as either a tank or a support member, is rejected at least in part because he "doesn't do any/enough damage", and then very shortly after parting ways discovers he actually CAN do tons of damage, or otherwise easily attains the means to do so. Seriously, don't any authors ever think that making a guy rejected for his lack of DPS into an offensive Ace might detract from the story? I'm still waiting for a story where the expelled hero continues adventuring in a pure support role and manages to prove his worth WITHOUT having to gain what he was supposedly "lacking".

As another kicked out by the party anime, the party's reputation is most likely built by the "shield hero". The tank's friends sympathizes him, but they are reluctant to leave this "Fortune 500 company". The tank has to restart his adventurer career from ground zero.

This was pretty nice. Since I prefer tanking as my playstyle in World of Warcraft (got four Paladin tanks, which I play pretty casually. ), this appeals to me more than it would to others. Gets two more episodes for the moment.

Pretty much this. I mean, why be a scumbag? This is the kind of writing I just can't be behind. Can't there just be a legitimate reason to banish Rud, and do it in a civilized way? But whatever, its just a setup for the story, as long as the guy doesn't go out of its way to make the hero be an a-hole to the tank(it WILL happen ofc, just doesn't need to happen anytime soon).

Nonetheless, the rest of the episode was okay. Lesser animation here, but the two protagonists are decent enough to continue watching, and I'm interested to see how Rud will live his life in the village. Also hoping that when he does fight, he just stays completely a tank, though it'd feel like treading similar ground as Shield Hero if Luna does all the fighting.

On a small note, why name the guy Rud? I mean, d*m, why did it just have to be similar in name to a certain other char from another anime with the same premise =01?

Seems OK enough. I give any isekai a chance, I like them. Even if many are garbage, I still watch them. It's weird though that his unknown skills were resolved in ep 1. I'd have thought it would be strung out a little more.

Well, by now this flow of events is no longer a surprise. Every viewer is yawning and asking for "The Reveal" anyway. It's almost a credit to the story that it acknowledges how worn its premise has gotten by just cutting to the chase.

First off, this is NOT an "Isekai". Far too many people throw this term around to much. Isekai refers to stories where a person from our world teleports, reincarnates or is summoned to a separate world, or someone from another world ends up here through similar means. This is fantasy, with a fair degree of RPG mechanics, not Isekai.

On the matter of his name, while it's true here, the name doesn't sound that much similar in Japanese.
