The Water God gets another shot at this anime thing, almost unbelievably:

I am equal parts thrilled, terrified it will be another Samidare, and pissed that Spirit Circle is getting passed over again.

Seriously, anime’s relationship with Mizukami is… inexplicable. It took them this long to discover him at all, they totally massa-creed his most popular work, and they’re still not adapting his best series, which would also be the easiest to adapt well.

Update: It’s White Fox. Encouraging if nothing else for the “it’s not Naz!” factor, but also because we got that news immediately (pre-announcement leak, in fact). It’s not among my absolute favorite studios but has certainly done a lot of very good to great work.

After Samidare I already learned to not have hope.
Won't be surprised that Mizukami end up having the same treatment as Fujita.

I am surprised if it is indeed White Fox. People tought they are out of animation business.

I loved this manga years ago. Should I be afraid they're going to maim it horribly?

I loved this manga but I'm baffled they chose this over Spirit Circle.

Given what happened to Samidare, I'm of course very pessimistic, but it's not the same studio so maybe things will go well this time. Fingers crossed.

I've never read the manga, but it's a testament to Mizukami's writing that I still thought the story was good despite the state of the anime.

How did I miss this announcement? Great news that it's getting an adaptation but like others I'm very pessimistic about it.

Going into this one with very cautious expectations for obvious reasons.

I certainly get the skepticism. But I mean, White Fox isn’t Naz.

Lots of news. Trailler (looks pretty good). Director is Aizawa Masahiro (not much directorial work but supremely experienced). Character design Okuda Yosuke (big name), series composition Hanada Jukki (about as reliable as it gets).

And - three cours (starting Winter 2024). 36-ish eps for 17 volumes is hardly ideal but Hanada is good enough to make that work.

The big question now is WhiteFox still doing ReZero s3 or they gave up that one also like GS before?

Woah decent studio and names and, no Kaji Yuki in sight you're dodging bullets like Neo, for this one Enzo. Hopefully it won't feel rushed but it genuinely looks like third time will be the charm for Mizukami anime adaptations. *knocks on wood*

36 episode certainly is a better number than expected, but still not sure that's enough.
Just hope the staff can do their magic here.

But they cast Souma as Jinka? The hell? That just doesn't click with me.

Count me in. I am also relieved when I see Senya's voice is not Kaji.

36 episodes is a reasonable amount. Though what I'm most looking forward is the characters relationships and development, specially the two main protagonists.

Three cours sounds great as long as you don't think about that being for 17 volumes. It'll be like Ushio and Tora - they'll adapt the setup and the ending and cut a lot of stuff in-between. Fortunately Hanada is a good enough writer to make that work somehow.

36 episodes is a bit iffy, but they can may be able to make it work depending on what they cut.

I heard people saying that first volumes are pretty subpar so a lot can be cut there.
