True, but whatever form he's in, he does qualify as a "non-human male" at least as I see it. I think mythical creatures are the most likely candidates to meet the description.

But when it comes to the category itself, I think it's frankly silly to talk about separating it out. Anyone who doesn't think there are plenty of good male leads to vote for just has otaku blinders on, plain and simple.
