Well I was mainly using the picture and not the actual character... but I see your point.

Personal preference for the original 14 episodes I think. I would recomend the tv order.

However, the new ones are intended to be wathed in chronological order.

PS: Sorry my bad english.

Q: In Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, Kyon asked Mikuru about "where's our Delorean". Did he really means this? Or was it just the equivalent term in English?

Same question was asked here actually

Kyon is just asking whether there's a time machine, but a.f.k. likes to spice things up with some references.

Actually, the CoalGG sub had the reference. All the others (including a.f.k.) translated it straight.

And yes, that is the DeLorean being referred to.

It's a good reference, and absolutely the kind of thing Kyon would have referenced if he had seen Back to the Future. I'm pretty sure he hadn't, but it's the kind of thing he'd say.

Problem is.. Mikuru would most likely have no idea what he was talking about. And of course, his line actually uses the words "time machine" if one listens. Never "spice up" if it actually introduces more problems... it is roughly the same as if I say "Don't cross the streams", I'll bet half the readership will simply blink (people in RL life certainly stare at me blankly if I say "because it would be bad.")

Or think you're referring to Bob and George...

"Cross the streams...."

1980's American movie references seem to abound still in this day and age.

If Kyon hadn't known that Mikuru was actually a time traveller it certainly seems the kind of thing he would say half-jokingly, ey?

I mean, yeah, you're right, but I hate lawful stupid translation jobs with a passion.

There won't be another new episode until June 18. Sorry.

So did they air the "old" EP 2 for S2?
If they did, why no1 dig the thread up?

Technically, it's not S2. It's S1 with fun new tidbits thrown in to appease the fandom, until we (theoretically) get a large chunk of new material that happened after the original S1.

And so, we get Mysterique Sign (I think), which has been discussed thoroughly.

Its not exactly 'tidbits' either, Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody which was just shown, is one of the most important chapters of the story.

What's happening now is that instead of just airing a second season, they are reairing the original 14 episodes combined with more episodes and airing them in a chronological order.

The original 14 episodes themselves were picked from various volumes of the novels. Because the novels themselves do not tell a completely chronologically linear story for various reasons. It can and was presented in a seemingly random episode order with a couple of handpicked chapters to arrange an anime season where the stories will support each other.

With this reairing, they're going to add another chunk of plot and various related chapters right into the original 14 episodes. And they've decided to let it run chronologically.

For whatever reason the old episode threads are not being used even though they are being aired. Of course the base confusion factor is involved, since the old episode threads are listed in the original airing order, which is vastly different than the current chronological order. (the episode that aired this week was Episode 7 originally by the episode thread title. However it was also the original 8th episode chronologically before this new season started. It is now Episode 9 chronologically. It is the same episode (Mysterique Sign) no matter how it is presented...just the numbering conventions make it difficult to relate to which one is which and what one someone is talking about at a given time).
