Not really. The Raptors are purely automatons, with no living components to them. Combat Cyborgs are still living, breathing humans, and thus are entirely different when it comes to ethics.

Raptors are aotomatons in the sense they have no human will to speak off but they're flesh drones. They're more or less the amalgamation of the Numbers and the Marriage.

Source? This is the first time I've heard of the Raptors having any biological components.

Going to re-read Raptors NEXT Design and Ch. 16 but IIRC something about the matter was in fact mentioned.

And talking about that. i wonder if we will manage to meet the original source of the genetic code for the Raptors, maybe a powerfull mage or an expert soldier? An old retired badass that was awesome in his youthfull days? or probably a famous bounty hunter?

There's nothing about biological components for Raptors mentioned in Record 16.

Heck, it even mentions stuff like OS and batteries. These things are pretty much androids.

Yeah, there was no mention of them being biological. They're just remoted controlled machines like our present day bomb disposal robots.

I'm pretty sure Combat Cyborgs also need OS and batteries to operate their bionic parts correctly xDU

Nothing suggests that. But I suppose their OS would be the human mind and their power source would be the same as ours.

Initial translations remarked about them being "alive". Later translations say that there's no trace of living components inside them--and thus far everything has suggested them to be entirely mechanical in nature.

Well, it's one thing to say that, but he actually bothered to give them humanoid appearances and faces. There's no way it's going to be that simple. My money's on them going Geth and aquiring "life" on their own.

They're to be remote controlled like the GT Robos or Endlaves. Having them humanoid in shape would allow the operator to have a better handle on them.

That and they need the humanoid shape to wield the AEC Armaments, as their profile mentions.

I'm aware of how many people found the Raptors' appearance ridiculous when first introduced, but I imagine they'd look much more intimidating once you attach a Strike Cannon and a Fortress unit on them.

And took away the helmet. Even if it didn't make them resemble a certain squeaky voiced robot, it still looks silly. You could replace it with some kind of mask or visor if you don't want their eyes to show and have it be no different.

I'm betting on at least one Raptor actually becoming a character, and he'll probably take it off at some point then. Having your eyes show means you're important, after all.

Justin: Yeah, that'd be one way to add another 'male' character :3

Make them look like Zero Zerker or the Kerberos Panzer Cops from Jinroh (I really hope someone have watched that movie). Because those silly helmets makes them look like mushroom dude from Super Mario.

so how far away are we from an accidental robot rebellion?

AI in Midchilda is pretty advanced. Just look at Intelligent Devices

It just takes one machine to interpret its orders in an unusual way
