I'm still quite impressed by Rimuru's abilities. At one point in the episode, it gave an impression that Ifrit would be able to kill everyone present until our slime kun made its counterattack. Quite frankly, I think the episode felt emotional enough. Tsundere dragon is back too!

Anyone else think the music in the show also improved? Felt like it made the latest episode more impactful.
Ifrit attack phase really nail it
sinister boss fight.. it really remind me of FFXIV Ifrit battle

Otherwise this person couldn't even know Dragon Quest and therefore this reference in particular.
It's in the Light Novel.

*****, for his part, just laughed it off. “I was just imitating what I saw in this video game I played,” he said. “Though, of course, you can do anything you want in a game. You can have monsters that say, ‘I’m not a bad slime, you know’…or even have them join your party!”

He was always a joker like that. Monsters becoming your friends? That sort of thing could happen only in your dreams. The world I was born in had almost been razed to the ground by war. Had it recovered to the point where it could create people like him—people who never seemed to have a care in the world?

He explained to me that these “video games” were children’s toys that let you experience a full story yourself…so if Japan had recovered enough to give children dreams to play with, it must have become a wonderful place. So I listened to ***** stories, thinking to myself about a home I could never go back to.

While this episode has very good production value, I'm not exactly sold by the direction as a whole. The way how Shizu's backstory was exposed was pretty dry to say the least. But again, that's probably the source material that just went with that kind of stuff. Back when I read the manga, I couldn't really care much about her, nor relate how the adventurers party would consider her as a true companion considering they didn't really do much together. And of course, there isn't really any explanation why they weren't surprised they were about to be killed by a "hero".
I hoped the anime would have expanded that issue a little better, but they went a bit too faithful, so yeah.

No, that has nothing to do with Shizu or Rimuru's powers. The moment a monster is named by someone with magic powers, they automatically receive a portion of magic from that person and evolve accordingly. That's a general rule and that's why Riguld was surprised Rimuru would give them names just like that.
This is a reference to RPG in general: it is a universal rule in any form of RPG that all monsters are merely referred by the name of their species. If a monster has a name, that means they are pretty much unique and are generally dangerous.

Correct, but also proves the point about the Anime only content.

I liked this episode a lot. Shizu backstory is very sad.

Also we got the answer about the timeline, in both the worlds (our and this isekai) the time run the same way. She spent 50 years walking that world, probably she kept her youth thanks for Ifrit inside her body.

And Rimuru fought well, but to me it would be better if he was not completely invulnerable to fire.

Please no more OverPowered protagonists, like in ISEKAI SMARTPHONE and DEATH MARCH. Let Rimuru play in NORMAL MODE or even HARD MODE!

Yup. To be honest this sort of thing somewhat spoiled the episode for me as well - a few too many things happen "just because" from the viewer's perspective. Felt a bit "by the numbers" at times. I had similar issues with the WN but hadn't gotten the same feeling in the anime until now.

You might like Kumo desu ga, nani ka (so I'm a spider so what) as it starts on "INSANE MODE"

That's how good the series is. The episodes are standard length yet feel so short because you're not paying attention to the time. you're just focusing on the show and how great it is.

I can elaborate on both of these. They're using material from the LN for the part with Shizu's past and the reason they consider her a close friend already is because they've been traveling with her for a good long while since from Guild HQ in Blumund to where they were is a one month trip by foot. That's why they looked like crap when they reported back to the Guild Master and were so pissed that they had to go back there so soon.

Rimuru can't copy Ifrit's powers and appearance until the djinn is dead, right? Would it count if the dragon kills it? Are fire spirits even killable or will they just disappear if extinguished?

I don't think that's a requirement. All he has to do is eat and analyze it.
