Ever wondered on the purpose of Inko-chan in the show? The big clue is that it had trouble saying its own name. In a sense the bird symbolizes how the characters are forming their identities in the show. When Inko-chan finally managed to mention his name, it was at graduation time, when everyone had more or less had known their identity and figured out what to do with their lives.
I don't think this applies in the novel, but then again there was still senior year for the characters there. |

I really wish it hadn't been so predictable. I mean they did try to trick you into thinking the ending wouldn't be the one that is obvious, but in the end, it ends up exactly as expected.
That disappointed me a lot, but it was still an entertaining series. |

I totally expected the ending, but I was just hoping that my expectations wouldn't be fulfilled and they were going to pull a REAL twist by not ending it how everyone expected.
Oh well, I enjoyed it anyway. I suppose that is what matters. |

Some anime like to go the extra length of cementing a couples relationship, specially when there is no intention of continuing the series (whether it had been the light novel or the anime). This anime decided to go the more realistic route, they became friends, grew closer and developed more as characters while together, they went through trials and in the end have ended up together. I love it but it in no way has them A. Getting married (which as others have stated there was no need for that anymore). B. Went to the same college / lived together, etc. It just shows them together for a very short moment after they had been apart for a long time. The connection and feelings are still there but there is no guarantee that they will live happily ever after. As far as I am concerned that is an open ending. All we know from the anime is that everyone is content and per suing in their ideals and goals. Not that they have or will ever achieve them. I personally hope they stay together, get married, have a family (or whatever floats their boat), and grow old together. I guess we will never know for sure though. Hope you can see where some of us are coming from here. |

Guys come on. Do we really need some "5-10 years later" epilogue in every show to reassure the audience that the relationship lasts? Not every show needs to end with a wedding/marriage. They said they love each other, we're given no reason to believe they're being dishonest.
