Souma's words are telling at the end, when he has this realization of him 'needing' to have his own cooking. You can tell its his shortfall atm, should he be in a similar match in the near future.

I am not sure what you are disagreeing. Are you saying that "originality" was not something that looked to have been a natural advantage to Hayama due to his specialization in spices while Soma did not seem to have a speciality?

Though I do wonder whatever Ryo's speciality was (if he has one), it seems like the image of Hayama holding the rapier under Ryo's chin as the victory for Hayama in meeting Ryo's challenge from their draw.

I too agree both Soma and Ryo can overcome the hurdles and improve in lots of areas. Probably would very much need to if they want to stand at the top of Tootsuki.

Kinda feel Soma, Ryo and Hayama is giving off a Big 3 feel even when we have a supremely talented Alice in the sidelines. This does seem like a very top heavy generation when we bring in others Takumi, "Hishoko", Mimisaka, Megumi, rest of Pole Star 1st years, Hojo etc. Feels other authors also use this tendency where the generation of the MC is given some kind of golden generation treatment.

Not really. I was just pertaining to the perceived 'unfairness' when it comes to Hayama.

Remember that all 3 were almost dead even in their respective dish, & its not as if a large chasm separated them, in terms of cooking abilities.

Its like the LDMR-theory, & to move higher, the amount of effort put in would invariably increase exponentially. Hayama gets the 'easier' way out, due to his nose.

Hayama won because of the 'exclusivity' of his dish, not what you're thinking above (of course, Jun is what gives him the strength & motivation to strive for excellence).

I see what you are saying. It would be ridiculous for any competitor to not use their advantage.

I am quite satisfied with the result. Looking forward to see how the 3 (and Alice and the rest) develop in the rest of the series.

And I hope Hayama is not (cliche-ly) totally curb stomped to hype up someone in Top 10.

Hopefully there is another Erina tasting Soma dish (or maybe a reverse where Soma taste Erina's) in upcoming arc. Erina doesn't have to say "it's good" yet when tasting Soma's but her expression should get Soma to understand that he is getting into her. It is after all one of the long running plot points that Soma initiated in the beginning chapters.

Hmm...According to the chairman there wasn't actually any losers.
The judge believed that in terms of skills all three cooks are the same. Hayama and Kurokiba both demonstrated their ability to select the best ingredient while Souma wins in terms of creativity. As for the tastes all three dish are fantastic.

The reason why hayama won is because when the judge tasted his dishes they are able to 'see his face', meaning that hayama's dish leaves a stronger impression 'of the chef' out of all three dishes. In other word, the judge thought that hayama's dish is one that only he could have made, and out of all three contestant Hayama is the one with the most distinct style, hence the judges respect him more.

So really it has nothing to do with taste of the dish.
And now that I think about it I kinda agree with the judge.

Like the judges have said, in terms of skill and ability all three are the same, but if you look at the style of cooking Hayama is the most unique one. Kurokiba is fixated on leaving impact through the taste of his dish. Souma rely heavily on his creativity to overcome his obvious inexperience. Only hayama was able to create dishes that demonstrate the superiority of a particular style/method.

Certainly Souma's dish was full of creativity, but if you remove creativity there's nothing about his dish that leaves an impression the same way hayama's does. In all likelyhood, Souma would've probably won if he made a dish from his own restaurant using the required ingredient. Instead, his dish ended up being more about 'evening the odds' than 'demonstrating his superiority'.

Does this mean he's a lesser cook than hayama? Certainly not. It just mean that the ingredient chosen for the final match placed him in a very obvious disadvantage that he was forced to address, which might have dictated him to create a dish that may have been able to stand toe to toe against other contestant's dish, but not enough to win.

Kurokiba's dish is even less than Souma's in that regards. It's just a dish. A very tasty dish with a strong impact, sure, but it doesn't perfect anything or make use of anything, whereas Hayama's dish stood out due to the perfect blend of spices.

I hate to say it but I think Hayama deserves to win just a little more than the other two contestant.

Well your getting off topic, and my feeling towards a characters motivation is still on point as it related to the story and Mc . AS for shit posting I felt my wording wasn't very harsh at all aside from showing me stating my thoughts on possible plot tools.
AS for those sites you mentioned i don't post/comment in any of them so I'm drawing a blank on the reference.

As for the actual details whether its true or not will remain to be seen, but i seriously hope it won't be used on soma.

It's got NOTHING to do with love or emotions either.The judges didn't say anything about that.Dude won because his research in spices was so advanced that he reached an unknown territory.The judges are basically saying that other talented chefs could have done what Soma and Mad Dog did but only Cuy Boy could have made what he did.

yeah this result does seem like a slap to the face to the readers, hayama won because he made a dish only he can make, i could have accepted this if not the previous chapter, with the previous chapter having a talented opponent beat the try hard mc because of his talent almost makes that entire chapter feel unneeded and pointless if your going to have this kind of result then you put the previous chapter later during the rematch in which the MC wins not in the match he loses because he doesn't have the same natural talent as his opponent that's like taking the naruto and neji fight and have naruto lose it just doesn't work

The reason authors usually have to bother with this kind of "love power" in the first place is because fans wouldn't shut up if he just says Souma is worse than Hayama. But of course, you can't satisfy everybody, and there will always be whiners.
