Almost every show feature them - mascots.
They can be cute, but they can also be annoying as hell.
With their strange behaviours, even stranger looks, constantly making "pika" or "puu" - noises, and in most cases, they have absolutely no purpose in the show, other than just being there to annoy the main characters as well as the audience.

Have you met one of those abominations, that were so uncute, so useless and so awfully obnoxious, that made it painful to watch the show and/or ruined it completely for you?

Tell me your No. 1, and please explain WHY it's the most annoying critter on your list.

My No. 1 most annoying creature?

That would be Plue from Groove Adventure Rave.
That "thing" is ugly, badly designed and unfortunately of such importance to the story, that it gets a considerable amount of screentime every damn episode. Of course it makes those mandatory noises, that no one understands, is always in a TREMBLING state, makes the characters debate what he's saying or what he is most of the time.

Plue was cute IMO. Probably Wiz from DN Angel....I just couldn't get passed how much it reminded me of Ryo Ohki from Tenchi.

Not sure if Kon from Bleach counts since he can talk, but that's pretty much the reason why I find him so annoying.

Porun almost singlehandely killed the Pretty Cure franchise in its first year.

Not only does he say "-popo" way WAY too much, but he's also whiny and conceited and not even that cute and a cry baby and a coward.

He was so awful the writers created a sub mascot character just to annoy HIM in the second season

The perverted alligator from He is My Master. The anime was already horrible without him. He was REALLY CREEPY and I was like WTF? An alligator?

Yea, I'll have to say Kon aswell. At first when he was introduced he seemed cunning and fairly intelligent, but then his IQ took a sharp drop once his story was over and was relegated to 'mascotism'.

I can't actually think of any other mascots that I find annoying. There are quite a few I like actually, like Botan from Clannad and The Aria President.

Ah yes, those are just like Kon.

Ririn, Noba and I forget the last one's name... yea, it's just Ririn that is the annoying one. She has a bit of a short temper.

The Haro from GSD and heck even 00 . I find them annoying as hell and not even remotely cute or likable . I dont know its the flapping of ears or the robotic voice . Always reminded me of Dumbo =/
