Happiness seems to be one of them for Kyouka, Pyramids don't hug people. And I can't help but think there is more to her demanding a wedding per episode so far than her desire for fireworks and cake. Ouka's unwillingness to see there marriage as more than a fake for the mission does seem to sadden her a bit.

Ouka's willingness to say no to her makes it all the more important to her to sway his opinion. As far as we can tell he's the only person she knows who tries to relate to her as an equal.

Think you have a good insight on it. Plenty of people like a challenge, what they can't have, those willing to stand up to them. Ouka is certainly going to look at things his way and will clash at times with how Kyouka looks at things. Though of course when he does praise her or compliment her its because that's how he feels. Not because he thinks that's what she wants to hear.

After the first episode wasn't sure how those two would interact. But does seem like it will work out somehow. Sometimes Ouka will win out and sometimes/many times Kyouka will have some fun.

It does seem like Ouka is starting to get used to life with the "family" at least. As FlareKnight said also, he only does compliment her because that's how he feels. He's not exactly the person to just shoot lies off to get her off his back. He's an honest person, which I like about him. XP

This spring has been a major treat for me . There are lot of animes out on my favorite genre and this is one of them . I like supernatural and this anime satisfies my taste . Also the comedy element is an added bonus .

This is one of the most entertaining shows this season. I freakin' love the main characters. Especially Ouka, Kyouya, Yuuka, Ginka, and Chika xD Kyaaa!

Yeah, knew that. Was watching on Niconico and there was a commenter who kept on complaining about how they weren't following the novels and spewing out other related stuff too...

Hah, forget comedy, this episode was almost pure drama/serious moments.
Overall, it was a good episode. Though only thing I have a problem with is that the great and powerful Himemiya family simply lost... just like that. And they didn't play any role at all. The only people we see get defeated are nameless grunts. The actual family didn't even make an appearance and it ended just like that.

Ginka was the star of this episode. He even managed to get Senko (now Chika) onto his side.
By the way, the part where he talked like some Yakuza-guy was too cool. He needs more moments like that.

Ouka and Kyouka take a step down this episode. Ouka really just didn't do much except knock out a few soldiers. Kyouka was just plain loud this episode, and not in a good way. She had a "serious" moment, but regardless, I didn't find her enjoyable this episode much. Though she did use her cellphone ability to get Senko into the family.

Hyouka and Teika didn't get much spotlight either, except attacking a few guards.

Gekka... can use telepathy?! o_o;

Yuuka was... well, Yuuka. Kind girl. Her family sucks... Wonder if we'll get to see her demon form or something, if she has one.

Senko... Truly a pitiful and pathetic person... *glares down at her*
I guess I should feel sympathy for her, and I did a bit during the last half, but it doesn't change the fact that she spent half of the episode abusing Yuuka, hitting her, and dumping water on her. And she didn't have good reason either. Wants to drag Yuuka back so the one who suffers is Yuuka instead of her... Damn little thing...
Though now she's okay and won't attack Yuuka anymore. I guess she'll become more likable now.But still...

After episode 1, I'd have never thought that the show would get SO dark and dramatic in parts. The first half of episode 3 had some pretty harsh drama elements, and also some (purposely ugly) violence. I'd have thought it would be all-speed-craziness comedy, but not so, it clearly alternates.

That notwithstanding, there's always enough comedy to lighten the mood again. Hyouka took the cake this episode - having him fess up to Kyouka right before the Himemiya mansion blew up, and the subsequent Kyouka rampage had me literally laughing tears

On the downside, this episode's animation was very uneven in some parts, which looked like the results of some kindergarteners. I'm a little bit shocked at that and hope that this won't become the norm.

What I find remarkable: I've come to like every single character in the family. Which is very unusual for me. And I suspect that Chika will be a very enjoyable addition

OK.....it wasn't as hard to watch as I thought. Some scene took some cringing.....especially the flashbacks.....they were painful to watch. Ginka was AWESOME this episode with his "Just an ally of justice" and "Despite how I look, I'm pretty string". And he IS pretty strong....almost everyone is. Hyouka had to hold back during the final confruntation so he would not kill anyone. Ouka once again proved he can fight. Kyouka is way stronger then anyone though she was, as she kicked the most ass. Even Ouka was wondering where that incredible power was coming from. Also...they blew up the mansion.

SO.....except the ass-kicking at the end, and a couple of coments by Kyouka, there was not much comedy this time, even less then last episode. We explore Senkos past. She was indeed the last Solitary Doll, and she eventually broke. She did on to Yuuka as was did onto her. She had an encounter with Ginka when she was little, when Ginka promised he would save her, but he did not. That was the moment she truly broke. Meeting Ginka again reminded her of that pormise and along with the interference of "somone" (you should know who) she was "fixed). After they attack the Oni mansion for some payback, Kyouka gets her into the family by using her ability to controll minds to make the lab think she is also a child of Enka. Senko begs Yuuka for forgiveness....and Yuuka, of course, forgives her.

Interesting things this episode:
- as I thought, Senko was not really evil as much as broken
- Ginka was AWESOME in guy-mode, speaking and acting like a yakuza
- don't piss of this family unless you have and army or two
- Gekka is way more then meets the eye. She seems to have an ability simmilar to Kyouka's
- The Destroyer still has good candidates: Yuuka (Dark side), Kyouka (to powerfull), Gekka (big mystery), Ouka (amnesia, and my money is on him). I don't think the others could be The Destroyer, but this show is full of surprises.

I've just found my favorite character for this series

The resemblance is uncanny. Her actions, emotions and tragic past is just that which resembles mai gin sama. Even if it isn't T rie voice her, I still think Haruka Tomatsu is doing a great job in voicing the mature like qualities which a Gin sama clone should possess (and I've just found out that she is a fairly new seiyuu...well with a voice like that I hope she gets more jobs ^^).

But yea, This episode broke off from the comedy into a more serious tone (surprising here). I can totally feel sympathy for her because of her past. I was totally screw up and still was until the family released her from the oni family as well. She is "crazy" in a way, but that is forced onto her for her own survival. I also feel sorry for Yuuka seen as she is also innocent, but in such a case, I can't blame anyone other than the Himemiya family (burn them!! T__T).

Senko's past self is also very cute! but her crying broke my heart (on both accounts in the flashback and her crying on the bed ;___; ).

I'm also surprised that Ginka has met young Senko before, but it took him a dam long time to save her from the clutches of evil.

Gekka can mind rape? (oh my god O.O).

Well the second half of the ep was a load of fun. I mean the family completely smashed the Himemiya mansion, and what is descruction without one final nuke to finish things off, Hyouka is the man . Kyouka also did her bit in desctuction by destroying the mona lisa painting ~ that was hilarious.

But yea, the new addition to the family is well appreciated. BANZAI!!

Well, that was a good deal darker, but I expected that. The batshit is still there. Disappointed that they didn't smash the parents and only killed some random goons. It could be that the Himemiyas will return. I hope they get their asses kicked good. I suppose since she's been evil for her own survival, this is why Seiko has an SM fetish -_-

I'm quite confident that directly facing the Himemiyas will be saved for a later episode. Granted I could be wrong, but still.... Either way there wasn't enough time in the episode for a proper confrontation with the parents anyway. I get the feeling that was mainly done as gesture towards both Yuuka and Chika. To essentially show they don't approve of how the family treated them.

In any case while she had a well let's just say rough start, I think I'm going to like Chika over all. Especially with Kyouka as her mother now. Also maybe it's just me, but some ways it almost feels like this series could be used as analogy for adoption.

Looking at some of these opinions, I've just got to put in my two cents.

Spoiler for if you don't already know about Senko:

OK, I don't think people should look down on Senko/Chika so much. True, she did horrible things to Yuuka. She tried to make Yuuka's life every bit as horrible as it had been, and to force her to go back to being the "solitary doll" that everyone abuses to relieve their own stress, simply so that she wouldn't wind up being forced back into that position in Yuuka's absence.
However, I don't think you can simply say that she was being selfish and trying to escape her own pain. From Senko's point of view, Yuuka had in a way given her her only hope at some degree of happiness. Yet suddenly, Yuuka just up and leaves, forcing Senko back into her old position.
Yuuka hadn't simply run from the horror, she'd dangled hope in front of Senko, then snatched it away and obtained more than Senko had ever dreamed of. More than all the pain, all the torture and cruelty, this must have seemed like the most terrible thing anyone could do to her. She'd seen happiness, which made the pain all the worse, and then this little girl had crushed her completely, reducing her to less than she had ever been, and claimed a paradise to which she had no right. Such an affront could not be forgiven; a betrayal so cruel demanded retribution. Senko had been left with nothing, and all she could do was take back what was hers.

Like I keep saying, Senko was never really EVIL. She was brought up in pain, and mostly only knew how to give others pain. The ones who are to blame are the ones who started the tradition of the "Solitary Doll", and the ones who enforced it. At least one of Senko's parents could have been against it, but weren't. THAT is unforgivable, and those "parents" should have their asses handed to them by the Enka familiy. Chika will probably fit right in, since she's just as messed up as everyone else in the family. I doubt the Oni family will try anything, but if they do, you can be sure they will recive Kyouka-sama's Divine Retribution.

BTW, anyone know how many episodes this show will hava? AniDB says 13.......but AniDB also said that Bleach had 52 episodes, so.........
