Plot Synopsis

Female police officer Kawai had enough of a career she wasn't even that into and was about to hand in her registration, when the unthinkable happened—she met the new, female director of her station! And after spending a little time with this gorgeous role model, Kawai realizes that maybe she isn't quite done being an officer after all.

Pretty fun Opening showing off the cast and our leads together in their daily police work. Also a shot of Kawai's butt .

How could you end up regretting meeting a beautiful, stunning, woman who ends up becoming your partner? When she ends up getting you to stay in the job you wanted to leave .

Kawai is hopeless everywoman who wanted a steady job but ended up stuck as a police officer because it was, for some reason, the only thing she was cut out for, and now she has to live with the constant paperwork, hassle, and jeers from being a Japanese policewoman .

And then we get Fuji who is much more dutiful and passionate about the job, maybe even too much, although she's got a steely resolve and poker face, but a bit of an angry side she has to temper...she's also not one to mince words, even if she'll only curse you out under her breath. Already she and Kawai are making for a fun pairing .

Kawai's paired with someone who used to be in criminal affairs (basically the detective branch of the Japanese police from what I recall) for five seconds and they already catch a serial burglar. Like, wow, Fuji is good .

I wouldn't think to have a rookie question a serial criminal to learn advice, but I guess that is a prime learning opportunity for someone who has been in and out of prison and dealt with the police as much as this guy did. Also wasn't expecting his sendoff to prison to be fairly happy, but hopefully he sticks to the straight and narrow moving forward .

Fuji has a point that they shouldn't assume all policewomen are good with kids or should be used as poster girls, but she probably shouldn't say that women wouldn't join the police if they're nice to kids .

Imagine having emotional trauma over handing out tickets because of something you went through as a kid .

I'm glad the lecture to the kids went well and Kawai got to deliver a good speech, although Fuji then had to go and ruin it with the little girls who were inspired by them by freaking out because she was turning into the poster girl. Couldn't stick the landing that time, Fuji .

Imagine your dad showing up with sake because he needs money for visiting adult websites...although it did lead Kawai to realize that ticket that traumitized her so much ended up helping her dad drive safer so he never made his daughter that upset again, which is sweet .

I guess one of the perks of the job is when you get to chase down guys who call you "hags" and take their license away .

The Ending is pretty nice with a fun theme and showing off Kawai and Fuji in various outfits! These are definitely two lovely ladies .

Episode 1 is.......fine. Nothing spectacular or really special. The comedy is not bad although there are things that these Japanese officers are complaining that I don't really get. My most basic question is, do Japanese civilians who got tickets can really badmouth the police officers so openly & in-your-face like in this episode without suffering any kind of additional penalty or warning?

The animation & "cinematography" though.....is very static to the point where I feel like I'm watching motion-comic. I mean, I still need to see how they handle emergency situations but boy, I miss YUA already:

I thought the banter and reactions from the leads was pretty on-point...and in a country like Japan, maybe that is how it works .

This seems more like a pleasant slife-of-life series so I wasn't expecting all that much action.

How can you know something is "on-point" when you're not sure about the things they're talking about?

As far as Kawai and Fuji's conversations? I don't think those were particularly vague for the most part.

You can have SoL with energetic direction & animation. Do I need to give you a long list of SoL shows from Kyoani, PA Works & even JC Staff which are visually more lively than this?

I dunno, this doesn't strike me as a "lively" show that would really need to show off that much. It's competent and kind of a slow-paced series, and I think it has fitting animation in that respect.

Even though it's a comedy, this show seems to have a more realist vibe to it than say, You're Under Arrest. Actually, this show reminded me of YUA live action. It actually felt a bit like live action, only animated. lol

Even the voice acting sounded more naturalistic then what you usually heard in anime. It sounded like live action too.

Well, I'm not sure about the authenticity of all the police-things they're talking about. So, I'm in no position to say that what they're talking about is "on-point". The banter itself is not very natural for me and feel more like manzai (especially when Fuji did some weird things).

It feels like they were discussing general police things like their role in the public, their civil duty, how the public responds to them, what they can learn from, etc. It felt pretty natural to me, but to each their own .

The show definitely tried to be a bit lively with the banters between the girls with the crime department-guy and the old officer only for it to fall flat.

That was all driven by the dialogue though...and I guess the reaction faces, but I thought those were handled well.

Agreed that it's nothing spectacular I can see myself dropping it a few episodes or who knows maybe it improves a bit and becomes worth watching all the way till the end. I did like the cynicism though and supposedly the mangaka did work at the police for 10 years so this anime will probably be closer to reality compared to YUA.

I don't know about that.....

Yeah, it has kinda the same vibe. It feels slightly more rugged, more natural, than the YUA anime. This show feels a bit like that too.

I decided to give this a watch because why not, new anime, might as well and I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot more than I expected.

Fuji's dark mode with all that language is rather funny, I kinda understand how she feels though.

It's a thankless job a times, a lot of abuse for just doing their job.
