Common Sense

We mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been
with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long
ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having
cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the
rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and
maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children,
are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer Panadol, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a
student; but, could not inform the parents when a student became
pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better
treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault. Common
Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise
that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap,
and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He
is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else is to
Blame,
and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone.

Got this from my brother in an email, thought it was rather amusing
And rather sad too, considering it's all basically true.

Radiosity - I'm having a fit trying to figure out whether you are mocking common sense or trying to provide us with semi-useful knowledge. Though like you said, all of these are 99% true to their word. Hahahah ^_^

the penis requesting a raise!
Dear Management,

I, the Penis, hereby request a raise for the following reasons: -

I, do physical labour;

I work at great depths;

I plunge head first into everything I do;

I do not get weekends or holidays off;

I work in a damp environment;

I work in a dark workplace that has poor ventilation;

I work in high temperatures;

My work exposes me to contagious diseases

Sincerely,

The Penis.

Management Response: -

Dear Penis,

After assessing your request and considering the arguments you have raised, the administration rejects your request for the following reasons: -

You do not work eight hours a day;

You fall asleep after a brief work period;

You do not always follow the orders of the Management team;

You do not stay in your designated area and are often seen visiting other locations;

You do not take initiative;

You need to be pressured and simulated in order to start working;

You leave the work place rather messy at the end of your shift;

You do not always observe necessary safety regulations, such as wearing the correct protective clothing;

You will retire well before you are 65;

You are unable to work double shifts;

You sometimes leave your designated work area before you have completed your assigned tasks;

And if that was not enough, you are constantly seen entering and exiting the work place carrying two suspicious looking bags;

Sincerely,

The Management.

Yeah, I know. I was the first to post about his thread, till after I posted. Catgirl, I believe moved it to the "A Laugh A Day Thread." It sorta deserve it own thread, but I believe that it would've been unpopular with the crowds to get enough posts.
