Episode 10:
Well, it was a bad rainy episode. Now it's a worst-case scenario for the School Living Club as not only Kurumi got bitten, but the whole school is being stormed by a zombie army!

The earlier episodes of Gakkou Gurashi are akin to a bright light at the end of a dark tunnel, providing a comforting beacon of light to lead you out... then in episode 10 you discover that light is attached to a train speeding towards you while you're tied down to the tracks.

Happy fun times are officially over people

Kurumi ;-;

Because of joint issues I have not posted much in this thread, but I just want to say (and I made a similar post on another forum):

Thank you Houbunsha.

Thank you Lerche.

Thank you Norimitsu Kaiho.

Thank you Masaomi Ando.

Thank you Sadoru Chiba.

Thank you Inori Minase.

Thank you Ari Ozawa.

Thank you Mao Ichimichi.

Thank you Rie Takahashi.

Thank you Ai Kayano.

And most of all, thanks to all the tireless animators and illustrators for whom we all owe a deep debt of gratitude.

Thank you for making me remember all of the reasons that I love this genre.

EDIT

And if I'm still alive and haven't gone broke I WILL be buying this on DVD or Blu-Ray and maybe also a copy of the manga now.

Yep, they're all gone, and it's all because of Taroumaru.

Is it bad that I was more concerned with how weak the shovel will be as a weapon after those deep bite marks compared to what happened to Kurumi? I mean, what will they fight Megu-nee with now? Rii's kitchen knife? It doesn't have the same reach as a shovel!

I'll laugh really loud when it turns out that the crazy one becomes the lone survivor.

I wouldn't blame it on Tarumarou. The pup got loose from his collar once before, so they should have tightened it or locked the door.

Anyway, Tarumarou's fate shouldn't be a surprise given all the clues that were dropped...his image on that horror movie ad in the mall, his first escape from a loose collar, his sudden reconciliation with Miki in ep 9, and the ending of Miki's book in ep 10...the signs were all there. The one thing I find more unbelievable with the anime change compared to the manga is how he managed to survive all by himself in a mall chock full of zombies for days but gets killed by one lone zombie overnight. He was really a victim of a plot vice.

Similarly, when Kurumi asked Rii to kill her/them should she/any one of them get bitten was definitely a foreshadowing to this.

I swear the anime producers are sadists (and so are you with your sig...>_<) . The mangaka wasn't as bad as this.

...well, your suspicion about that ED scene may be true.

So with the OP and ED scenes...I notice that Yuki's cup was beside the book but then it ended only with her hat and Miki's cup. Then the new ED scene of them all disappear in that chair scene. I suspect two possibilities: Miki or Yuki have the highest chance of being the last survivor if they go that route...or they all die like suggested in the ED scene.

Maybe he got hypnotized when he saw Megu-nee too, just like Kurumi

Why did he even run to that particular place at that particular time? I won't even pretend to know what goes on in the mind of that dog

I do realize that blaming Taroumaru is kind of unfair. Even if he was on a leash, the zombified students would've overrun the barricades anyway due to the downpour.

If these zombies still retain their memories, then can we say they're really dead?

I thought about this and the only reasonable explanation I could come up with is that he bit Megunee instead of the opposite.

Yea its a bit weird, he really didn't seem to be in danger and he never met megu-nee in the anime so he wouldn't be offset by her appearance.

What gets me more is...quite the yuki change my leaving out a certain scene and adding a couple others here.

It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. It is however a fight you could not have won against the final boss...

Salutes brave Taroumaru!

Only explanation I can come up with is that he approached Megu-nee for some reason and ended up getting to close to her.
