Bleh, lost 6 times before I beat Sadahiko and Benkei (1st battle). Sadahiko's Star Explosion just screws everything up. Had to use Ibuki's Shield in the end.

I initially lost that fight because I thought Benkei/Patroka was the priority target, then just stomped Satahiko/Mikhail first because it would be less annoying to change target because of his taunt.

It’s a lot better to farm gold chips for 50% item drop rate. 9 out of 10 enemies will drop common core crystals once you have it on your party members. Zeoth Serpond in Temperantia is a good place to farm for them.

It unlocks a quest if you send an extra 90KG, but you can clear it only much later in the game..

currently on chapter 5, and I don't think I've had much trouble during the main story so far.

I think the only time I've died during the mandatory story fights was during the triple mob fight that guarded the hangar key/control panel in the factory in chapter 4 because Tora wasn't there to tank.

Yeah most of my deaths have come from non-story related stuff, and generally getting mobbed to death.

I'm quite sure I'm very over level for areas I'm in too which because I fight everything I see or at least think I can beat.

He will join you once you have to leave Indol for Temperentia, so pretty soon in your case.

So when the game asks me whether Rex should call her Homura/Pyra or Hikari/Mythra... does this choice affect the ending? Showing off those portraits just for two choices makes it feel a bit suspicious

Yes, significantly albeit subtly. Treat the question as which girl you like more or which one you're more attached to from a story perspective.

That choice affects how people will call that form and it does have some kind of effect for the end. Note that the event theater allows you to select which name was chosen so your cinematic replays won't be locked on the choice made in your current save state.
I personally went for Homura, simply because it makes way more sense regarding Rex's journey but also interactions.

Urgh, done with every superboss and quests, clocking 177h total, and that's funnily right before the new patch.
I don't exactly fancy the idea of maxing the affinity chart of every rare blade though, especially the likes of HLR or HP tanks.

I wonder if the easy mode for tiger tiger won't screw the ether or rare mod parts drop rate, but I guess it will be easier for an early modding. Gotta see the result in few hours.

• Fixed an issue occurring in the Gormott regular quest “A Young Man’s Prize,” where acquiring the Snow-White Rhino quest item at 7:00 caused the item to fail to be counted in the quest log, preventing completion of the quest.

I just got this game for Christmas, but I don't have the first game. How important is the first game's plot to the second one?

Also, I'm already aware that X isn't actually related to 1 and 2, but more of a spiritual successor or spinoff.

Not at all. You can play any of the two games in an order you like, and it won't effect the plot.
