I'm guessing he "camp" or "cheesy" more than "gay"?

How can people have sex without penetration occurring? That's a small minded way of looking at it. The shows I claim are gay give off a certain vibe. Maybe people without a gaydar don't pick up on that. An easy way to check is to search for the title in question on a doujinshi/porn site. If you get overwhelmingly hit with yaoi stuff, the show is most likely gay.

Another easy way to tell is the ratio between bishounen and bishoujos. Not to be confused with the ratio of boys and girls. There's a huge difference. Take Psycho-Pass for example, the protagonist Akane isn't a bishoujo. But most of the guys are bishounen (Shinya, Nobuchika, Shuusei). Though, if you can't tell the difference between bishoujo and girl (bishounen and guy) than the first method will be easier. For example, Tomoko from Watamote is a bishoujo (a kimoiko). Marnie from Omoide no Marnie isn't.

This is similar to figuring out who is and who isn't a trap, just much easier, since bishoujos almost always fall into a stereotype.

Why does any of that matter? A good story is still a good story.

That's some impressive and ironic Freudian projection from someone calling things gay based on simple cartoon character designs.

I understand the concept on fujoshi-pandering and yuri-pandering and I'm pretty confident that I understand it faaaar better than you. But it's often apparent in the writing. Character designs alone don't cut it. Just because a certain fanbase takes it that way doesn't mean anything. It certainly didn't mean shit to a co-creator of Tiger & Bunny. Not every thing is a calculated move and I don't think you have the ability to judge that well enough. For example, Psycho-Pass character designs are simply based on Akira Amano's concepts. Akira Amano being a well known shonen mangaka that just happens to have a penchant for style. It doesn't make them gay. These were then streamlined into Asano Kyoji's take and that's just the way it came out. You're just seeing things that aren't there.

Yeah this "Gaydar" need to be fixed fast. Character design really doesn't make anything gay. Plus no character design can be less gay then monkey with afro...
