The plot had an ok pace during the episode despiste they choosing to rush and compress some events of the manga/LN beggining. Some manga chapters were really boring due to this. The fighting scenes were a bit poor in execution though. Is this 12/13 episodes? The reduced amount of episodes, aka 1 Core, is what is causing several shows to come out as rushed adaptations.

I think it will only be 12 episodes. Main website lists 4 Blurays to be released from Mar 2022 - Jun 2022 (presumable 3 eps per Bluray). https://tensaiouji-anime.com/bd/tokuten.html |

I'm reminded of a dumb LA movie I was made to watch in Japanese class years ago, centered on a group of boys who somehow ended up in a synchronized swimming club. They begged a dolphin trainer to teach them, and he just used them like slaves and dumped them wherever he could in hopes they'd give up, only to be shocked that the crap he put them through actually made them good at it.
Definitely not "Realist Hero". More like an antithesis to it. But fun to watch back-to-back, switching from an outsider who's determined to make the kingdom that took him in into a powerhouse that can take on the world to a lazy bum who, despite being raised as the heir, just wants to improve his country's value enough to sell it but instead ends up stumbling into more and more wealth and power. |

There is few issues like not even single archer on main battlefield, but it mostly made good sense and author either understand politics and economics or have enough common sense to fake it.
So basically Realist hero, but good.

This was a bit weird. Not terrible, but just felt off. I sure hope that isn't actually the OP. Just a string of what look like cuts from the show itself. Just a clip show presentation with some music in the background. One of the more awkward feeling OPs I've seen in a while. Even the ED was basically that. Although hey...it had a border around the clips .
Episode was still fine. But can tell how much they are trying to hurry it along. Another anime that just seems like a quick trailer for the source material instead of standing up on its own. At least the comical element should remain good. The Prince too good at what he does and sets himself up for success despite not wanting that. Going to be ruling that Kingdom with his lovely assistant for a long time.

Sometimes its best to just start at the point they wanna focus than compress 2 volumes in 2 episodes. They will focus on a certain character introduction and make the show from there. I assume next episode we already meet most of the characters. The interview with the ambassador, who has the same seyuu of Rias Gremory, was too fast.
The intro also focused too much in a Blonde Lady. I wonder if she is related to the Emperor that was announced dead on first minute of the series... Last edited by nfsac; 2022-01-11 at 16:34. |

Actually really enjoyed it. I could tell things were compressed, but they did a good job of making it comprehensible. Followed the logic of the Prince, and understood why the battle went the way it did.
Love the MC, one of my favorite archetypes is the lazy MC who thru misunderstandings or luck of trying to get out of work, just creates more work for him. Different from asshole MCs, where the person here is lazy, but he's not a lazy asshole. Battle scenes were serviceable, not fancy, but it showed clearly what was going on. Only thing I was unsure of was who the ambassador was, future episodes will probably show her again, but I guess the small kingdom and everyone else is under the umbrella of the Empire, and that was who the ambassador lady was from? Or was it a neighboring empire from their border

It would also require them to have decent archery equipment (in large quantities), which judging by the information in this episode (kingdom having no resources, cavalry limited to leaders) they probably just can't afford. (Though that does raise the question how they managed to get all of that armor.) |

Out of the new three shows aired in the same day, I like this one the most.
MC is so entertaining to watch. His assistant and sister are cute. I will also give them a thump up for not using Ugly 3D Solider CGI in battle scene.

Hm, not too bad intro (budget issues aside), I find Wein entertaining. He's definitely not dumb, his plans all sounded at least somewhat sensible, just that luck and misreading people are tripping him up. Well, part of it is also that he doesn't factor in that everyone else is much more reckless than he is.
Even hearing comments about rushing, didn't expect them to get that far in one episode. I worry a bit about the rest of the season's quality, but I'm already interested in picking up the novels now. I'll probably follow this series, at least the premise is relatively simpler. |
