Related to the "Espadas" question... is there some Japanese folklore or such that gives significance to a group of "TEN" swords/warriors, etc? I mean, this is NOT the first time we have seen a group of "ten elite warriors". In Rurouni Kenshin, Shishio Makoto's group was called the "Juppon Gatana", which oddly enough, translates to ... yep, you guessed it..."Ten Swords"!!

Out of curiosity, why can everyone fly in Human world but not in Aizens world or Soul Society? and what does it take to fly?

As far as I can recall, Nothing has been said directly about the ability to fly but, its possible the don't loose the ability to fly it in Soul Society or Hueco Mundo (Aizen's world)

Spoiler:

I guess is has to do with How one person can control his Riatsu, sort of like DBZ.also that ability could be related to that they are basically spirits, and they can put their body to that purpose, which I see it as floating and not really flying...

Is there a back story anywhere in the manga of how and why Hitsugaya decided to become a soul reaper? And if so what chapter is it?

Going by the recent anime eps, Cirucci said it when she was fighting Ishida (right after she sawed off part of her released form). The translation I saw though, was "failure is not acceptable".

I have a question of my own:

Spoiler for manga, HuecoMundo arc:

Are you sure? Because I googled his/her name, and most of them came up as him/her being a guy... I guess it's possible to tell by how someone refers to themself?

Hard to say what Rin's gender is everytime i watch the ep I change my mind. Rin's VA, Miho SAIK, is female and mainly plays female rolls but that doesn't mean too much.

As for trying to id Rin's gender on how he/she speaks there are a lot of girls that speak like guys or tend to stay somewhat gender nutral in how they speak.
