By theory: possible, in practice: stupid and impractical

I don't know

Depends on the sword, I guess.

I tried holding two Claymore replicas but my left hand gave up pretty quickly.

Ofcourse you can do it with an IS...case in point: Akatsubaki.

Mormons? Their group is one of the many sects of Christianity.

@ Box - Planning to give Ichika three fighting styles: Single sword, Zweinder, and dual wield.

Side note - What's the difference in this group in particular?

@ Eras
Well, depends really. I think it is possible as box said, but it was purposefully decided in ST that no, you can't.

Reason: Muscle memory and combat style.

When Houki use Uchigane with double, 1.7m katana, things go a little awkward and Tabane has to reduce the size of Akatsubaki's swords to 1.35 m. This is based on anime depiction, where Houki's sword are nowhere near normal length of I.S. sword, being under 1 meter by my estimation.

Ichika can't use that technique at all because he isn't ambidextrous, as the result he has two sword, one 1.6 m (right hand) and one is 1.2 m (left hand), therefore, he adopt normal Musashi-style nitouryuu. On the other hand, he also adopt Kojirou-style Ittouryuu with oversized sword (I.S. scale 2.1 m Nodachi).

But the Akatsubaki weren't holding longswords.

My 2 cents:

Dual-wielding is not possible by normal human capabilities. However, with an IS, it would help in getting a good grip on those heavy weapons on each hand BUT it would still require great weight control if you want to fight efficiently.

Well it's very complex but basically it rose from the Latter Day Saint Movement which was founded by some dude in the 1800's.

You don't think Katanas are long?

On dual-wielding: it's definitely possible as long as you're strong enough.

Is it normal to use metal swords as props in a play? Also, can one sword cut another?

@ Box - Damn, wanted to make one of the characters a Mormon Religion diversity ftw.

Standard katanas are long. But from what I see on the Akatsubaki's... I dunno. They're pretty small in proportion to the IS.

Yes, by human scale, 80 cm for Katana and 40-60 cm for Kodachi. I.S. has 1.7 m Katana, and therefore we adjust from that.

False assumption, Eras was talking about combat usage.

1. Probably in professional, broadway style play. I doubt school ALLOW such thing (unless we're talking crapstick that is I.S.A.)

2. Nope, but it can broke. Katana is notoriously easy to broke in combat.

What I said, probably just anime-thing though.

No way, a Claymore would still be called a long sword even if you happen to find one that doesn't look too long.

EDIT: Ninja'd

Do you mean dual-wielding doesn't work in combat? You just need to use short-swords.

Dual Wield Claymores are deadly.

Side note - In most anime, who do Japanese worship/pray to? I can't figure it out.

Sword cutting another sword?

Myth busted!! There's no way you can cut a sword with another sword.

Watch the Mega Movie Myths episode of Mythbusters for proof.

Majority of those shrines are Shinto, that, or Buddhism.

Need to separate the character's religions. So far I have "Shinto, Naytheist, Christian, Mormon, and God Complex".

@ Jak - Thanks
