The Nobel Peace Prize has plenty of questionable winners, ranging from Obama to Al Gore and Anwar Sadat. So what would Putin win it for?

At least it is not as bad as the Nobel Prize for Economics.

Based on the actual candidates, my vote would gladly go to Malala Yousafzai for her sustained work to push for better education for Pakistani girls and, indirectly, all girls of the Muslim countries... all of that despite the assassination attempt on her.

I would vote Alex Ferguson for creating a football team worthy of envy and bringing EU together through EuroLeague.

The only reason EU came together is because of football/soccer. All other reasons are bollocks.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said pollution is a major problem and the government will “‘declare war’’ on smog by removing high-emission cars from the road and closing coal-fired furnaces.
We know it has to happen eventually. The Communist Party, no matter how corrupt, is always prepare to tackle any issue that could jeopardise its rule. And pollution has officially gotten so bad that they can't ignore it anymore. Social unrest could really happen if enough people feel desperate, and it seems China has decided to advance from the artificial industrial revolution, to the next stage of actually not poisoning their own country.

This really was inevitable. Every nation has to go through with it. We just wondered exactly how far China was willing to tolerate the toxins before they had to do something. It was amazing how much they did manage to tolerate. But what has to be done, has to be done.

Who knows? People with the right to nominate don't have to justify their choices.

Also, Stalin was nominated twice. (In 44 and 45.)

Yeah, I heard reports of either debris or signal from the flight 120 nm south of one of the Vietnam islands, nothing confirmed yet though.

I hope they at least find the wreckage. I hope there are some survivors, but it's looking grim with no contact after nine hours.

MAS KL-Beijing Flight MH370

A bit more on this flight:
Navies from Malaysia, Vietnam, China and Philippines is searching in the area.
Singapore Air Force is sending a C130 to search, with another on alert. <= I'm slightly surprised, since I thought the Fokker 50s were the SAL plane in the RSAF inventory.
Some Italian sites claim the Italian in the passenger list is not on the plane and had lost his passport in Thailand in 2013. Make of it what you will (tabloid folder I think).
This airframe apparently had a ground incident where it's wings hit another plane, it's wingtips were cut off in this incident.

And no Casualty Conductor or Bunny Psychic to solve it this time.
