As for Satou himself right now, he actually does seem to make a flying fortress, but appearently that's still work-in-progress and seems to pale in comparison to the "subdimension" world he made for himself and his group, but I guess the highlight is probably still the space lab he created for dangerous experiments. Oh speaking of which, did you know that after defeating the space kaijus that attacked the world tree, Satou later had to fight kind of eldritch abominations in space? It actually felt like Satou's hardest fight up until then, even though it didn't really give that impression. Unfortunately Satou's SAN points are already long at negative infinite, so the lovecraftian beings' struggle was in vain... they tried to "take care" of his common-sense-chan right in front of him, little did they know that his common-sense-chan was already a broken, hardcore M by that point. I might be exaggerating about all this, but it sure felt it happened like that. Don't blame me if my memory of the events were entirely off, OK? I might have been influenced by the comments section while reading the WN a little bit~ though. Tehe~

^I only just realized that timing-wise, people might mistake this for Overlord S2 EP2, due to Lizardmen.
Also... stamina/SP bar? That's new. I don't think I have ever seen that in the WN or manga versions... Aside from that, we actually get to see adult Suzuki Ichirou's face for once, not just some shade for his face, like in the manga.

The assholery of him killing dragons for fun was changed for self-defense, huh?
I pity anyone in Crunchyroll who's in charge of translating this Those flashing notification boxes must be annoying as hell In anime he looks like a normal human being with feelings

give it up... recently even flags don't work on him anymore. He went and said, after making an attack, "did we get him?" to an enemy, but the enemy was actually bloodily sprawled defeated on the ground for real. So if you ever go against him, then know that omae wa mou shindeiru.

Anime ep 1 is here! Time for bashi-........ N? It's actually quite, no, really good lol
Impressions : 1. Zena looks like Main Heroine 2. ED song is awesome, OP song is meh 3. They went out of their way to show that lost kid scene to establish that Satoo not a lolicon 4. Yes, Satoo, anime version is so different from the WN's Sugar, so from now on I'll call anime Sugar, Satoo 5. Yep, all the logs and notifications remain untranslated, freaking things so small not even Japanese would bother reading them though 6. Satoo is so expressive 7. Production value is great, far better than Grancrest, seems to be using marvel style dark filter or something though Weird things : 1. Level 310 got damaged (large wound) by the spear of that last lizardman, when rammed by wyvern and fell from the sky did no damage, wut? 2. Do Japanese never cover their legs with blanket when they sleep? lol Seriously, in anime they always only cover up their stomach

First episodes are always visually stunning it'll only get worse from here, at best we can hope the quality doesn't drop too much from here on out. Was it just me or was it way too slow pace wise? Like I expected Satou to at least arrive to the first town by the end of the first episode.

BTW, the worst about this episode was definitly the subs. The worst thing they did was not translating the titles he got, as well as not translating the most important parts of the logs, like, I asssume, probably mentioning something about "dragons", though if this follows the same storyline as the manga (and therefore, by proxy, LN version), then the things about the a certain being having lost it's "life" won't be mentioned until later. Also, did you guys notice the "Satoo here!" catchphrase? It actually appeard!

So the the first episode was nice, though I think anyone just watching this without reading either the manga or the novel would have found it very blah.
It looks like they mostly kept to the character designs from the manga and novel and they are not trying to rush though the slower parts of the story. And let's face it there are many slow parts to this story. Spoiler for Spoiler:
From what I can tell this series is either going to be one season covering the first two Novels or,most likely, they are gearing up to do two seasons back to back. I am judging this by the pacing from this first episode and the opening. The only time you will see Mia and Nana on the road with the rest of the group will be at the end of season one. This is why I think there is a high chance of this running for two seasons. |
