I share similar belief with you there. I believe in God but i don't follow any religion, instead i look at other religions or philosophy and take what i believe is right or just.

For me, religion is something that cannot be preached to others and must comes from yourself.

So what will you do if what you believe to be "right and just" is, in fact, totally abhorrent and rejected by society at large?

i ll be burn at a stake? hahaha

depends i suppose, if after reexamining that belief and i still throughly believe it in my heart, i ll keep on believing it... whether it be genocide, homosexuality or not washing my socks.

All religion builds on faith and conviction... my own is no different from others nor better.

Well-said. Perhaps this kind of consideration---personal beliefs, I mean---should be put in the "Life" thread...

I see myself as having an Agnostic/Atheist/Buddhist flavour.

The agnostic/atheist standpoint largely covers my belief system (in regards to a higher being etc.), where I flit between the two on a daily basis

The Buddhism influence is more a philosophical appreciation.

Well growing up in my family with my parents, grandparents etc. I've never been Catholic or believed in any religion. During primary school I was forced to do religion. Which I really didn't like since most of the stuff that got told I was told different from my family. So in other words I'm Atheist

It will be a long time from now probaly when I'm around 20 or so and I have kids they might be the same. But it will change if the husband/boyfriend I'm with is Catholic or anything then we'll leave the choice to the kids. It's pretty suprising how I'm already thinking about my future at such a young age

I see myself as a christian, I know that's quite a wide term now a days, I guess I can specify it a bit by saying I'm a protestant. But frankly I don't care much for grouping people, in my eyes there are christians and non-christians, and that's it :P

Agnostic Atheist right here.

For those of you that might not know the specific categories of Agnosticism it basically means that "I don't know, but I don't think so." It doesn't mean that I'm closed off to the possibility, but it means that I tend to be a bit skeptical about the existence of a higher power.

While religion interests me, I think a person's religious affiliations are less important than their actions towards others. I personally don't understand how some people can do the things they do in the name of religion... it's monstrous.

Another agnostic here.

Although I'm more prone to think the way Woodchips described, I do think about the possibility of a higher power - although differently from the religions we know. That's another story though ;D

I worship god as a christian but I take the view that in all religions he takes form (yes even those that have 30 gods or so). I don't care if people think of me as a person who hates taking sides... I just think that it would have saved alot of trouble over the years if people thought the same
