I don't think it is a problem, at least not yet. If they keep trying to play stuff up in the future like "oh wow this character is totally about to die" it could turn into one, but there was a decent amount of tension in this arc without going overboard so I'd say the author played their cards fairly well.

Hey, yo. Just got into this series after some..."controversy" of the manga's localization translation shtick via social media and it is surprisingly amazing, given the fact that the artist is also responsible to Akame ga Kill series. Can't wait to see how things go onwards.

So, here is my personal speculations for scenarios sometimes during or after 84 onwards that may or may not be happening in the future. Take this with a grain of salt, please because I don't my speculations going like Red Hood (you know which).

1. Mira will going to give Yuki her own "reward" after taking a test drive of the Yuki Bike and go around beating some Shuuki as training. Sure, Mira NEED to muster her own courage to give Yuki her reward so that her defeat to Kuusetsu will not repeat itself, considering how sensitive Mira actually is behind her delinquent persona, but how will she doing it? And what properties Yuki gain from being a living weapon motorcycle? Tank durability?
2. Ren's emergency announcement. Whatever it is, it seems that the following aftermath of the Battle of Yokohama will double down the Mato Defense Corps' effort to secure the streets from the invading Shuuki, to the point even the Onmyou Agency may going to be involved, if this means getting some clues from their investigation about the 8 Thunder Gods. More about them later. Anyways,if Naon's flashback implies something, expect something fishy is going on whenever Onmyou Agency is invovled, such as a bit of "cleansing" if you know what I mean....
3. As of this writing, it seems to me that only Kyoka and Tenka meet Aoba's Former Human form back from what chapter (but I know is the Former Human Arc) and surprisingly neither of the captain told their team about it, for some reason (?). Why, just recent chapters, Tenka secretly meet with Aoba at the Hidden Village and they both seems having good terms, even though Aoba herself make it clear that her brother dearest is off limit. So, what is the consequences awaits for Tenka when she is caught redhanded for meeting with a Former Human such as Aoba? Can't her connection with the Azuma Clan solve her own punishment that is far worse than her demotion? More important question, how are Team 6 and Team 7, the teams who battled against Aoba and Coco and Naon, react once they know Aoba's Identity and will Yuki himself become a marked man by even the Onmyou Agency?
4. Speaking of the Thunder Gods, with Kuusetsu's soul resides at Yuki's mind, and if Ren's and Shikoku's account about one defeated god is anything by, this means that there are only 6 Gods are left in the story, with Shikoku, Rairen, Joryuu and the remaining 3 members in the story. We don't even know how does the 8 Thunder God's ranking system works, given how Kuusetsu's "birth" works but all I know is that the last three may be even more formidable for some reason: Either they are Shikoku's trump cards or the head honcho that has a highest pecking order than Shikoku. May expect a what if-a BIG one if you will-scenario when one of the last three will probably give even the Azuma Clan a run of their money, with one of them may force Himari/Fubuki to confront their own Dabi...

So...Chapter 84 (Raw) is already out and, somehow, I am the only one to notice it? OK...

Anyhow, here is my personal review/commentary for Chapter 84

1. So, the manga begins with Mira taking Yuki Bike a motor rodeo and the powers of the Yuki Bike is explained: Sonic Boom that is so loud that it forces Shuki to come out from underground, and a Flamethrower Breath breath that burn those Shuki into crisped BBQ. When the last one appears, both Mira and Yuki beat them by literally run over it.
2. After the trainning and test drive, Mira invites Yuki to get into her own jeep for a drink and each of them give themselves a toast...until she sees Yuki drinks her own lemon juice, which she gave him as "reward" may I add, then snatching Yuki's pineapple juice and drink it?! All because she thinks Yuki drinking her lemon juice as a indirect kiss? What a story but hey, you gotta give her credit 'cause at least she walks the talk, her. But wait, they're not done yet...
3. She then takes off her bandages and then tells Yuki to embrace her and kiss her directly. And, hoooooh boy, look how aggressive these kisses really are! Look at the (whose) hand print and see what I mean, and I'd better leave that to people's imagination to tell the whole story...
4. Anyways, the scene goes to 7th Dorm where Yuki, who is still flusttered over Mira's "reward", is greeted by Kyouka who congratulating him for the hardwork but asking him to train with her once he is finished resting, to which Yuki immediately complies afyer looking at Kyouka's look and tells her that they will certainly going to get strong, much to Kyouka's smile.

Anyhow, here is my personal review/commentary for Chapter 85

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 85:

1. The manga begins with Yuki is visited by...Ren, of all people? Strange, but doesn't she had one emergency declaration to announce? And where is Kyoka and her team now? Anyways, the commander eats the food Yuki cooked and after meal, Ren starting to give Yuki a reward and it is...petting the guy like a dog, much to Yuki's confusion and rightful so. What gives, though? Also, somehow, Yuki is bewitched by Ren's way of eating.
2. However, Ren's mood suddenly changes and tells Yuki that a normal him doesn't interests her? Huh. For the girl who is known "Earth Answer", she's sure a very picky one. Moving on, on her fight back, Ren remarks her plan to "discipline" Yuki after his Berserker Slave transformation ain until she can repay Yuki her first that but doesn't wanna talk about said incident despite vowing to come again. Last I check, she couldn't 't control her body from last time she gave "reward" to Yuki despite defeated the Berserker Yuki into a pulp, correct? So, what's are her chances to discipline Yuki then? Man, can someone force Ren to eat her own humble pie please? Even a Thunder God will do. Speaking of whom...
3. Joryu is sitting at a room by herself whilst recalling her memories with Kuusetsu who is obviously not around anymore. Physically. It seems the lost of Kuusetsu makes her really sad as we see her sheds a tear, implying her grief behind her stoic face. For a Thunder God and a special Shuuki, she know how to emote properly when lost, makes you wonder what, or rather, who was she originally prior to her goodhood...
4. Anyways, the manga chapter ends with a stinger where Shikoku, who seemly have a VERY annoyed look on her face, telling Joryu to get ready for the meeting of the 8 Thunder God. So, given Shikoku's current looks, it seems thay her relationship with other Thunder Gods are virtirolic at best but doesn't get along with the other gods (presumably 5, if the are 2 newcomers join tbe fray). Since they had the same goal in ensuring mankind extinction, will all 8 of them working together.

And, as preparation for the next arc, which I believe to be the 8 Thunder Gods Arc, the next chapter will be delayed to July 2nd, and this one will focuses entirely on the Thunder Gods' perception.

Chapter 86 is out and this chapter is entirely dedicated to the Thunder Gods themselves and one member may gonna surprise anyone...

Anyhow, here is my personal review/commentary for Chapter 86

The entire chapter dedicated to the remaining 4 Thunder Gods and their meeting to combat the Mato Demon Corp. Among the rosters are,

1. Jaku'un (若雲), the Helmet tall dude who seems to be an researcher of the 8 who claims that he has been researching the Demon Corps for quite a time
2. Naruhime(鳴姫) , the Thunder good who praised Jyoryu for
3. Fukuma (伏摩) another Thunder God ...looks like Ren?!
4. Daikyoku (大極), the leader of the 8 Thunder Gods (now 7 due to the defeat and demise of Kuusetsu), punish Shikoku for her failures by stabbing her to the back and warn her not repeat Kuusetsu failure again...and then tells her fellow gods Jaku'un and Fukuma not to blame her? Erm, boss? They aren't even jerkish to Shikoku.

Anyways, the meeting begin with the 7 discuss the change of plans, which Shikoku propose the "Day of Purification" . While Jaku'un and Fukuma seemly agree with the plan, Rairen, Naruhime and Jyoryu disapproves as they want to avenge Kuusetsu. That is until Jaku'un propose a better idea to have one their devotee to attack the Mato Corp instead, starting with Yumeji Shitamura the former captain of the Mato Corp. Rairen begrudgingly agree to Jaku'un plan and have Yumeji to prove hersef until Shikoku is going to tell her plan to both him and Fukuma about her plan and claims that they will not going to hold any punches to retaliate. Daikyoku is pleased with this idea and declare everyone to show their divinity since their mother's wishes to eradicate at least 1K people per day.

For those who wanna know about the Devotee

And I've got a funny feeling that there will more of these guys like her in future chapters, and the worst part that some of them only received them due to their corruption of their desires too.

Speaking of which, something big ia going on anf this latest chapter is only a prelude to what could be a gruesome battles for our MCs, especially Yuki who could be play an Achelies Heel for the Mato Demon Corps. if, a BIG if, his very existence gets the 8 Thunder Gods' attention, especially Taikyoku.

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 87:

The manga begins with another day of training but this time, Kyoka is teaming up with Yakumo of all people. Yakumo, being Yakumo, teasing Kyoka which makes her angry. Yeah. Anyways, Yakumo takes a flight with Yuki, in Jet Form, and greats a special moves known as NightStorm that creates a giant tornado that wipes away the clouds.

During said training, both Yakumo and Yuki see the gate suddenly cracking and they rush to entering into it in order to find out the enemy...only to arrive at an isolated island? Anyways, this begin a "private time" by having him to do massaging for her, and Yakumo tries to give him a reward...but their time is interrupted by Tenka who tells them with a straight face that reinforcement is coming. Yakumo then changes the subject by having Tenka to joIn the 3some but Tenka says that their mission is still ongoing while putting her hand onto Yakumo's forehead.

The final part of the manga gives a rather chilling note: Here, Yuki enters his dream world that is now taking a form of a riverside and Kuusetsu is now donning a schoolgirl uniform. Anyways, Yuki tries to ask Kuusetsu about the 8 Thunder Gods but she refuses to answer, although she does teases him with her body. Get it? Because she seduces him with her charm? Back to the point, Yuki asks Kuusetsu some serious question about what would happens to her if he dies, which eventually piques her interest and decides to tell him. According to her, her big sis Taikyoku is too strong and those who fight against will die, but even stranger is that she informs him that she did read some of his memories and tells him that he will be surprised to see one certain that god that is somewhat related to him, and then she disappears which leaves Yuki more questions than answers.. Either way, this . This final panel then see a worried Yuki takes Kuusetus's words seriously and having a bad feeling about their agenda.

If I am a same reader, I'm more concern about speculations about what Shikoku told both Rairen and especially Fukuma about their plan to crush the Mato Defense Force, given that Fukuma is too similar to Ren (unless the twist is that Fukuma could be Ren) that caused her to infiltrate into the Mato Corp. very easily. Even worst, if Kuusetsu's word is anything goes by, this means that Yuki must be protected from the 8 Thunder Gods at all cost.

OK, sorry for my late update of th manga because my own personal life is going on, and the only reason I deleted on the previous post is due to the duplicates. Anyways, here I go with the Chapter 88 and 89 psoilers.

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 88:

The entire manga is about Shushu spending her time with Yuki, from playing video games (obvious Street Fighter look-a-like) to even going out for shopping. During that time, they see a cat who is stuck on a giant fence and with Shushu's help, Yuki manages to rescue the cat. This makes Shushu see her capabilities of her power and Yuki's encouragement only adding her confidence that she will not lose to battle or love .

AT the Thunder God's lair, it seems that Fukuma is dancing a round in a good mood and she changes...again?! This time is Vavara of all people? Rairen is certainly not pleased by Fukuma's interest with humans, until Shikoku appears and tell both of them that th Devotee is on their move and they will follow suit at the same time.

And then Chapter 89 rolls in where something big is going on now. Who knows that Yuki is targeted along the way?

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 89:

The manga begins with Team 7, with the exception of Yuki, are undergoing some training as their preparation for their battle against the 8 Thunder Gods, and the girls going to Myoga's dojo. Speaking of Yuki, he going to train with Konomi under Myoga's suggestion, and the Myoga herself begin to wonder what kind of man Yuki is after Tobera talk about the guy, a lot. And she still want him to be part of the Azuma Clan.

We then see Konomi not only has a surprising stamina that even outrun Yuki, she also fight some Shuuki along the way by her own martial arts move. More of them are punches and kicks that defeated these monster. This makes Yuki excited as if hecan gaun new powers, like kung fu guy or something.

Little do Yuki and especially Konomi ever realize, however, is that Yumeji (whose face is revealed and she happened to be former Team 7 captain) and other 3 Devotees are targeting Konomi since she views her as an easy pick, simply because Konomi is younger. What adds the stinger is that Yumeji seems to have a rather sadistic intrigue towards Konomi simply because she is Kyoka's kouhai.

Spoiler for (Self-speculated) Manga Chapter 90-??? :

The training of 7th Unit is interrupted by the Thunder Gods' pincer attack: Yumeji and her fellow Devotees (pressumely all are girls) will ambush Yuki and Konomi whereas the Thunder Gods attack Kyōka and her team and Myoga.

Expect Yumeji initially belittling Yuki for being a male and views him as a weak fool, all the while ranting about Kyōka for her own defeat that resulted her banishment from the Mato Defense Force, of which was her reason she sold her soul to the Thunder Gods for more power. Konomi will accidentally cause Yuki to transform into his Slave Form (maybe a Kung Fu form, ala Chopper's Kung Fu Point) and this somehow give Yumeji an edge. Sure enough, this causes Yumeji angry about her another defeat to an upstart like Konomi but it's Yuki's Slave form cause her to change her perception towards Yuki and since he is related with Kyōka, she vows to break her successor former subordinate by any means, be it hurt (or kill) Yuki to his near death or even kidnap Yuki and hold him as hostage (given Kūsetsu's cryptic message to Yuki about something big will going to happen to him 2 chapters ago, after she read some of his memories).

Speaking of Kyōka, she and her team plus Myoga will be forced to fight against the 3 Thunder Gods without Yuki. 4 vs. 3. Shikoku and/or Rairen will be the one who taunt Kyōka for fighting with Yuki and claims that the devotee are cornering Yuki and Konomi as they speak. This, of course, shocks Kyōka as she trying to get to Yuki's side only to be interrupted by the Thunder Gods and the battle going separated ways. Shikoku vs Shushu whereas Rairen vs Himari, leaving Kyōka and Myoga vs . Fukuma. Expect Fukuma's shape shifting will confuse and demoralize 7th Unit by changing herself into fake...someone, including and especially Yuki, putting the 7th Unit is a severe disadvantage. Myoga then tell Team 7 to snap out from their despair and we are about to see her fight against either just Fukuma or all three of them. The victory will going be a pyrrhic victory for Team Kyōka and Myoga as the latter's health suddenly deteriorating which give either Shikoku or Rairen to finish her off, presumably killing Myoga or put her into coma. This, of course, make Team 7 furious especially Kyōka as they vows to not forguve the Thunder God for what they did to Myoga...only to be baflled when Shikoku tell them a cryptic message about the Day of Purification thing.

Or, alternatively...

Spoiler for (Self-speculated) Manga Chapter 90-???, Alternative mode:

Yumeji and the Devotees will attack everyone (that's include Kyōka and Myoga) and this forces Kyōka to confront her former commander during the battle. Yuki's Slave Form still going to be activated, albeilt

As for the Thunder Gods? With Fukuma's shape-shifting skills, infiltrating into the Mato Demon Corps' main headquarters and worse, they may injuring (or worse, killing) some of the commanders along the way is going to be easy for the gods. Also, because of Fukuma's shape shifting, Kyōka may be framed for "betraying" the Mato Demon Corps and she will be under trail by Ren for her "crime". A kangaroo court type of trail, given Renzs own beef with Yuki...

OK, I think it is time for the updates of this manga series pronto because it is out from the focus for too long. Pronto. This chapter and onwards, it seems that the Matou Seihei are begin their counterattack and, let's just say

So,

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 100 (Abridged version):

• Ren and the Onmyou Agency are checking the already dead (spiritually) Devotee despite she is healed from what, making Yumeji being the only survivor among the 14 captured Devotee
• Speaking of Yumeji, she is now at a hospital bed and through Kyouka's words, she finally responds with her fingers stroking some numbers that showcasing the coordinates of the Thunder God's location. With Yumeji may hold the only information about the Thunder Gods, Ren orders Kyouka to stay behind and also orders Monmyou Agency to keep Yumeji alive.
• Not only Ren visiting the Prime Minister and gain her faith to defeat the Thunder Gods, she also has her rare friendly moments with Bell by comforting her when Bell understandably wants to step down from the captain position even before the upcoming battle against the Thunder Gods.
• Arriving at the area, we see all captains (except Kyouka, of course) gathering at the place and Ren want to go down there alone. With Yuki.

And now, comes to Chapter 101 and...man, you can really tell how arrogant Ren truly is and one would know that her arrogant will end up costing the entire Demon Slaying Squad because she is just fighting the strategist among the remaining 7 Thunder Gods.

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 101:

• The manga begins with Ren and Berserk Yuki eventually arrive at Thunder Gods' headquarters and meet Shikoku and Jyoryu. Shikoku just tells Ren that the Thunder Gods are just relocating their headquarters and asks for
• Anyways, Berserk Yuki vs. Jyoryu begins and...surprisingly or not, Jyoryu easily neutralize Yuki with her stomp move. In full power. Keep in mind that the Berserk form is seemly Yuki's strongest here.
• Ren's turn to fight only to be cornered by Shikoku who is ambushing her from behind. However, Ren being Ren, manage to beat both Shikoku and Jyoryu with her spinning kick and she stabs Shikoku, only to see Shikoku slithering away and heading to the portal and leave, with her monologue seemly say something about things are going according to plan.
• The portal then disappears just as Ren is about to deliver her blow, and with no enemy at sight, she gloat that only she can defeat the Thunder Gods. I personally remark that she is lucky to not facing either Taikyoku or, even worse, Izanami because either one of any future chapters, she will be humbled.
• The chapter then ends with a cliffhanger with Yuki, now changed back to normal, has to confront Ren who is about to put a dog collar on him, presumably to avenge her last humilliation...
