Corpse Party (PSP)
You can tell from the title: this visual novel is all about fun and games, created by 5pb and team GrisGris. Localized by XSEED and will be released this fall.
Corpse Party follows students in Kisaragi High School. Their school was built on top of an elementary school that was torn down following a series of murders. Now, they have to deal with a school filled with corpses and ghosts. Features Highly-detailed 2D graphics with a 16-bit flair, giving it a uniquely distinctive look and feel and leaving just enough up to the player’s imagination to enhance the impact of its already deeply disturbing plotline. With the aid of headphones, players will hear characters speak to them from the corner of the room, directly into their ears or even from inside their own heads to create a chilling 3D audio experience. Through various actions, decisions and sometimes even knee-jerk reflexes, the outcome of the story will change. There are no Game Over screens here: only dozens of brutally detailed, agonizing and heart-wrenching scenarios branching off of the one true path that might lead to the player’s eventual salvation. More info can be found here. “I ate my friend today. What else was I supposed to do? I was starving.” Last edited by Nihokon; 2011-09-05 at 09:15. Reason: a little something |

Yeah I saw this on IGN a few days and subsequently checked out the trailer... Disturbing to say the least... Intriguing, but very disturbing.
...No doubt something to keep you company for Halloween next month.

Yes, Corpse Party: Blood Covered and Corpse Party: Musume.
I haven't read them, though. Nor do I plan to do so. I'll spare the horror and surprises for the game. |

I believe it's supposed to be both ? At the very least it's gonna be disturbing... At worst I probably would have problems sleeping as my head replays certain scenes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....

I for one and looking forward to this. I mean, it's technically a visual novel (at least all the sites I have seen label it as such but I know that it also has gameplay elements) and a horror game, so I am all for it. I need more games for my PSP, that poor thing is so unused with me.

Yeah, I've been interested in this series for a while, now. It's certainly good news that the awesome folks at XSEED are bringing this over here.
BTW, I really hope this also means that we'll get a localization of Danganronpa, another high school horror-type adventure game for the PSP (though this one is a lot goofier in tone, and is actually a lot like the Phoenix Wright games, since there's even courtroom "battles"). I could easily seeing that game being brought overseas by either XSEED, Atlus, or Aksys...... |

Can I be honest, that a candle flickering on the middle of your desk in the wintry December makes the game a whole lot scarier, ironically?
