Interesting to see the reaction of the East Suruga alumni who came before Maya and company and how they're definitely way more aggressive in regard to that topic. Saya and Nozomi being rookie A Ranks doesn't help either. It's as Coach Sakashiro told to Ujibe-sensei at the end of the East v West arc: the pro players would have their eye on the current Setouchi alumni now that they've turned the tables. I wonder if Maya and company get the same kind of scorn from their upperclassmen Suruga alumni in the pro field, seeing as they're the first Suruga graduates who lost to the west.

Good point, I never thought about the Suraga players and how they may be looked down by the east pro players for being the first ones to lose. Most of them are pretty strong girls though, so they should be fine. And should be the start of a generation of east players that respects the west.

I'm curious if the five butts are all or mostly from the east. Were we ever told where Tsurugi is from?

I see, thanks for the correction. Wouldn't that be technically illegal in Keijo regulations? Rules being only use chest or hips to sink your opponents. Then again, regulations say nothing about legal substances / herbs so maybe that's a loophole that Kaoru took advantage of.

I don't think we have any information to that (I could be wrong). We'll probably find out more once her inner cover profile is released in volume 12 this August. I'm going to take a wild guest and say maybe a lot of them are from the East. During the arc where Tsurugi debuted, Ai rejected the idea of using the Ass Armor. Then a bunch of Keijo / Butt Engineers walk in and cheer Ai on, one of them even going in English "WEST HIP TRUE, WEST HIP LOVE". So perhaps this suggests that a huge chunk of Japan's strongest Keijo players (five butts included) are East alumni.

Finally, a new color spread after 13 or so chapters without one. This time unlike the previous laid-back / group shot color spreads, this one is more battle oriented as it focuses on Saya and Nozomi's match against Oshiri and the two other East alumni.

Nozomi's getting her ass handed to her taking on three opponents at once but despite this she continues to encourage Saya. We get some brief flashbacks of Saya's school years prior to enrolling in Keijo. Turns out she was the type who isolated herself from her peers, teachers and classmates because she wanted to focus on getting stronger. It also shows that her uncle to some degree is aware of her inner conflicts.

End of the chapter finally has Saya using Shiri Batou / Ass Draw, resulting in one out of their three opponents being knocked onto the ground. So we have two more chapters to go for volume 14. This fight's either going to end next chapter with Saya, Oshiri and the other girl sinking or maybe Sorayomi will stretch it to chapter 137. Sort of hoping it'll end next chapter just so 137 is a breather for whatever is to come next after this arc.

That being said, I hope we see other Setouchi alumni again, particularly Usagi, Kotone (due to her family's connections) or Mio. We saw Hanabi, Non and Saya again this arc so that was a nice treat.

Then Nozomi tells Saya to join them on the hellish training menu that Sumire came up with (the one Nozomi, Sayaka and Hanabi have been at some chapters ago). But first they need to "take care of the laundry" (in Nozomi's own words).

I think we will probably see Saya using more, different butt techs. The girls apparently came up with multiple good techniques, checking on Saya's comments when looking at it back on end of chapter 132. Plus even if really strong, if you have just one skill, it's easier for an enemy to find a way to counter it.

Regarding the east x west, I do think somewhere it was said the west was almost dying off, but I'm not sure. Need to check again sometime. We saw Mio again this arc, what?

What do you all think of how XEBEC adapts the designs for the anime? I think they look pretty good. Compliments Sorayomi's style nicely.

I wonder if Maya and co's generation are going to change the widespread notion of East Pro players looking down on the West. The 11th East vs West War ended in much friendlier relations between Suruga and Setouchi so I cant imagine Maya and the others having that same kind of arrogance (especially when the other pro easterners most likely look down on them for losing to the west). If anything, Maya and the others most likely regard any western opponent they get in the race as an equal than someone from the losing side.

I'm digging how much implications Sorayomi has placed in the East v West relations in the Keijo industry and how this is going to weave the rest of the manga's story.

Funny how Sayaka says "well, it was okay, but if it was me I could link with Nozomi better..." when Nozomi and Saya fight together to defeat the former track and field girl. I guess since that previous arc the author wants to throw a bit of yuri fanservice here and there!? T

he butt smell girl shows her true power, when she releases a lot more of butt smell and smells it herself she enters battle mode becoming quite stronger (and ending all sentences with "butt"...). Fight will probably end next chapter just in time for the end of a volume.

Well, the Sayaka x Nozomi innuendos / ship tease has been going on since the start of the series so can't say I'm too surprised. I still remember Nozomi rescuing Sayaka like some knight in shining armor when the latter got confronted by guys who wanted to hit on her during the Kyoto arc.

The fantasy bits with GIANT ROBOT PILOT Nozomi caused by Kaoru's powder illusions were hysterical.



Also, apparently boob-butt clashing can cause mini mushroom cloud explosions. This manga is a fucking blessing.

Nozomi and Saya's combo attack shot in the last page was great too. So guess I was right about this fight being dragged on to the next volume (15) but I'm giving it like one or two chapters max until it concludes. Next chapter is most likely gonna be the end of it seeing as Kaoru's already used up her trump card.

Nozomi and Saya rubbed their boobs (well the swinsuit) against each other to generate a static electricity spark that set the butt odor on fire causing the explosion. Saya came with the idea when she noticed it's smell was similar to turpentine, which is combustible.

Looks like the match is officially over. Nozomi sank too since Saya's butt accidentally lost its grip on her. Really glad that Saya's found peace in regard to her mother's wish and what she herself wanted to do.

Near the end of the chapter, none other than "Five Butts" member Tsurugi Fuyuyu reappears...alongside another Five Butts member.

Starting with the funny cover, then the reaction from everyone when Saya lost her butt grip on Nozomi, and then the new revealed goketsu member, Uzuki.

Funny moments aside, the whole scene with Saya and Nozomi talking was pretty nice. And then her mother spirit writing on the air"butt love 尻愛".

One interesting bit of info, Tsurugi Fuyuyu is the 賞金女王 (Prize Queen). I'm not sure how it was translated on the chapters released in English, but that was the title Kotone's mom and Ujibe also held, which I believe means she is currently the one at the top of Keijo.

Isn't her name "Yuzuki" from what I understood in ch 139, her name is written as such. Or was it differently written in 138? I forget.

Well, we've been had! Yuzuki isn't an old lady in reality. That was just a mask.



Yuzuki looks pretty cute although chapter shows her with plenty of arrogant expressions compared to Fuyuyu who comes off as more humble.

The Goketsu are really free spirited though, to the point they casually dropped by Nozomi and co's dorm. Though part of this was because Uncle Kogatana was already acquainted with them.



After some chit chat, Yuzuki basically asks if Nozomi and the others are up to challenging her in an exhibition race...to which they all accept without hesitation. Although justifiably, Sumire is skeptical towards the idea. On the day of the race, Sayaka basically tells Nozomi that "you're both the same" that leads to some realization near the end but I'm not sure about the context entirely. Race starts off with Sayaka activating K-Acceleration right off the bat and once Nozomi's realization comes into play...well...



Yeah, this match is definitely NOT going to end well for Nozomi and pals next chapter. As expected of a Goketsu member.

@-Breakthrough- Yeah, it's Yuzuki, I somehow mistyped it.

Spoiler for 139:

Yuzuki is funny, she even forgot she was wearing a disguise, and she really love bathing on the spotlight.

Nozomi get curious about Yuzuki's parting words, where she says they both carry the same butt. Then when Nozomi asks the others what kind of techniques Yuzuki uses, they say she uses the same as Nozomi (they're famous so it should be common knowledge, but Nozomi doesn't pay attention to those afterall). And we can see that in practice in the end where she seems to be both nimble like Nozomi and uses a likely stronger version of the vacuum butt (with the added 元祖 in the beginning of the tech name, that means something like original / founder).

Also interesting that similar to a previous situation, Fuyuyu was about to fight Yuzuki if she kept causing trouble for the place. She seems to be the honorable kind that won't let her peers do things that would dirty the name of the east, of the top 5 and of the sport.

I'm curious how this will affect the girls (expecting them all to lose by a lot). It should be obvious that as they just started on A class, they are still far away from the goketsu who are the top of the S class. But still should be a blow to them

This chapter really shows the difference in power between then girls now and the goketsu. Even easier to compare with Yuzuki using consecutive vacuum butts, aiming it so the vibration would ricochet in the wall and actually hit Hanabi, and easily blocking Nozomi's.

Wow, Sayaka and Saya got annihilated in the span of the first few pages. It wasn't even a match.




Although it was really cute seeing Sumire play big sister and save both Sayaka and Saya after they sunk.



Of course, unsurprisingly, both Nozomi and Hanabi remain pumped up despite the brutal one sided defeat they witnessed before their very eyes and we Fuyuyu being understandably concerned.

Again, without any notion of surprise, Nozomi and Hanabi get their asses (no pun intended) handed to them.




It speaks chilling layers when a power house like HANABI KAWAI is driven to give off this horrified look that anticipates sheer defeat.

Yeah, like you said, this is definitely going to be a gigantic blow to the girls' pride. Next few chapters are probably going to go back to character development / SoL after nonstop chapters of Keijo fightin'.

That being said, I really like Yuzuki so far.



Her dynamic with Fuyuyu who plays the "straight man" to her comical nature is amusing to watch play out e.g. here, Yuzuki asking for a mike from Fuyuyu who flatly refuses.

Sumire's moved back to playing the big sis / mentor role after dealing with her personal issues/fears from her character arc during the match against Meiko. However, I also hope we see her in action more during future chapters only because right now she's a pivotal element in Nozomi's life. Heck, I'd like to see Sumire and Kyouko Shirayuki meet sometime since their juniors are good friends (Hanabi is currently training under Kyouko).

Her role right now is more like a teacher, someone wiser and stronger than the main girls currently are, and that role makes me think the next big fight with her will be against Nozomi and/or Sayaka, but likely only around the end of A class. Actually, her being the "final boss" of A class similar to the final one for B class would be a nice way to wrap it up, and would make it so they start S class as equals.

Oh, adding up, Kyouko x Sumire would be an interesting match, didn't think about that one.

The ranks were based on the entry test for school and they never really reevaluated it, which is why the 4 girls were just added as 11-14 after becoming elite class. So Mio was first because she got the better grades when entering the school.

I do agree she is likely quite stronger than everyone else on their year, considering she was able to make quite a difference on her war match, while always seeming like she wasn't really trying. She also was able to do the training Nozomi was struggling with on Kyouto at first try. But at the same time, she was also beat up after the training with Kyouko on chapter 59, implying she was defeated like the others.

It would be nice if we get her arc soon, as I really like her. But I'm really wondering what her "problem" going to be. The only idea that comes to mind right now would be too similar to Hanabi, as in she being the kind of person that excels at what she does and so get bored with it (like winning the swimming Olympics after only 5 years since she started swimming and then abandoning it).

There is one interesting line from Mio back on chapter 55, where she tells Nozomi it was nice seeing all of the 3 coming together for Kazane, and that she was jealous of their bond / friendship. It make me think that while Mio acts friendly. she may actually be a lone that don't actually make deeps bonds with others. I may be just reading too much into it, though.
