The light wasn’t there anymore. The laboratory... had changed. She lay in the middle of it now and the door was closed. The lantern lay next to her, being the first thing she felt when she woke. Total darkness ruled. But that wasn’t the worst thing.

She could hear shuffling. And growling. That same growl she had heard back then. The beast was in this room, together with her. And she couldn’t see it.

Her heart was beating in her chest. She could both hear and feel it. She hoped the beast wouldn’t hear it. At any rate, it couldn’t see her in the darkness. If it could, it would have already been upon her. So she waited, her muscles frozen. Her breathing slow. Cold sweat flowing down her back.

The creature walked around, not doing anything in particular as far as she knew. As long as it didn’t walk where she was, she would be fine. She would be fine. Yes. She was sure of it. As long as she kept her cool. Her Mama always did and so could she.

The creature sniffed in the air and took a step towards her. Maybe she wouldn’t be fine after all. Where was the door? Two meters away. There was a faint light through the keyhole that made it possible for her to locate it. If she ran, she could make it out. And where would she run? The door on the balcony was locked. She needed a key-

That’s when she felt something in her pocket. She slowly drew her arm there, trying not to make a sound. She let her hand drift into the pocket and it touched something metallic. She felt it with her fingers. It had the form of a key. If it was the right one, she had no way of knowing. But it might be worth a shot...

She didn’t want to think about who had put it there. Or maybe it had been there all along. Either way, it was where it was. It was now or never. She could stay where she was, waiting for the creature to stumble upon her and end it all. Or, she could try to run. Without weapons, hiding and running seemed to be the best alternatives. After seeing what happened to the two scientists, she didn’t want to fight it.

She made up her mind and her heart started to beat faster. Adrenaline began to surge through her muscles. The time was now. Now or never.

She grabbed the lantern and got to her feet. The movement caused a ruckus in the silence and the creature growled at her. She ran towards the door and flung it open. Light flushed in and she, against her better judgment, tossed a view back.

She gasped, but forced herself to keep going. Her mind tried to erase the image, but in vain. She took the stairs in giant leaps and was in the chamber in no time. The dust that had frozen in time was thrown about by her body that rushed through them. The glass on the ground crunched continuously under her boots. The lantern made a metallic rustle for each step. And she didn’t look back. She knew the creature was right behind her. She could hear its growling, almost feel its breath. That was the worst feeling. She knew it was so close and could grab her at any moment... But the moment didn’t come.

She climbed the stairs to the balcony which was lit up by the moonlight . She almost flew up. As soon as she put her foot on the balcony she rushed towards the door and pushed the key into the keyhole. She prayed it would work.

A click was heard as she turned the key and the door opened. She retrieved the key, wasting no time and threw the door open. She got inside and closed it behind her, turning the lock. The second after the creature arrived and banged at the door. Vivio remained with her back against it, as the door almost flew off its hinges from the violent banging.

Then, silence. She listened intently. There wasn’t a growling anymore. Not a thing. The door was still and she couldn’t hear any slithering steps behind it.

Her heart began to settle. The adrenaline stopped to fuel her muscles and she slumped down, almost hyperventilating. Tears flowed again, more from relief than fear. She had made it across. The creature was locked out.

She sat there for a few moments, gathering herself. Though her lantern wasn’t lit, there was still light in this room. A few torches burned with vigour, providing the large room with light. It was circular, she now noticed, and in the middle there was a fountain. The water that poured filled the room with a serene echo.

Feeling calm enough to get going again, she got to her feet and approached the fountain. It was a grotesque sculpture that spit water from its mouth. It had the face of a baby, but the body was that of a snake. Its body had weird protrusions on it, to which she couldn’t find words. Vivio grimaced at it. She couldn’t fathom what a sick mind could come up with something like this. Ironic, she thought, considering what just had passed in the last hour.

Hour... The time. She sat down on the fountain’s edge and checked her clock on her wrist. When had she entered the facility? Seven pm. What was it now? Ten past seven pm.

She stared at the time. Then minutes had passed since she had tumbled down that hole? Impossible. Unless...

A sudden shaking interrupted her. The whole building had begun to shake, its groaning amplified throughout the structure. Dust tumbled down from the roof and pebbles of stones prickled the floor. Vivio tried to keep her balance, but failed. She was plunged into the water of the statue and everything went mute and blurry. She trashed around, trying to get up. It was suffocating, horrible. She was helpless for whatever could approach.

She managed to grab a hold of the edge. She heaved herself up and gasped for air. She hadn’t been under for more than a few seconds, but it felt like forever.

While underwater, she hadn’t heard the cave-in. The door from which she had come was blocked from rocks. Not that it mattered. She wouldn’t go that way anyway. Not with that thing out there. No, what brought her mood down was the fact that the matches and oil she had found was now drenched in water. They were still in her jacket that followed with her into the water. The lantern was utterly useless.

She crawled out from the fountain and tried to squeeze most of the water out of her hair and clothes. It formed a pool underneath her feet. It splashed when she stepped around in it. Echoes joining more echoes. But this time it wasn’t serene.

She noticed a door to her right. After drying up as best as she could, she picked up the lantern, as useless as it was, and approached the door. The closer she got, the more clearly she could hear... music. A piano playing.

She stopped in her steps and listened. She didn’t recognize the song, but it was sad. A sad song, for some reason. She started walking again. It wasn’t from behind the door. It was farther away. There wouldn’t be anything behind this door. Nothing.

The door was already slightly open when she got within her arm’s reach. She pushed it open to reveal a small room. It seemed to be a study, with a desk and a chair behind it. A lone window let the moon shine in and this time it was low enough for her to escape from. That was the first thing she went for. A way out of here, one she hadn’t seen before.

She put down the lantern and rushed to the window. She put her hands on it, greeted by extreme cold. She could barely see outside due to frost. Which didn’t make sense. But she had stopped to worry over things that didn’t make sense. She was way past that mark.

She rubbed with her hand to see if she could remove some it from the inside with her own body heat. It worked, to a degree. She wished she hadn’t when she got a glimpse of what waited outside.

A snowstorm raged. White snow flew around in chaos. She was no longer in Cranagan. Maybe she wasn’t even on Mid-Childa. Because here, she was in a castle. A castle high upon a mountain’s top. She couldn’t even see the bottom. It was all white.

She removed herself from the window and sat in the chair with an exasperated look on her face. An odd sense of hopelessness washed over her. Was there a way back home from here? Where was here? How did she get ‘here’?

She buried her face in her arms as she leaned down on the table. She was actually quite tired, she realized. Even after being knocked out two times. She checked her watch again. It still worked after the fountain, but it had only moved a minute forward.

Time. Did it move more slowly here? Or did it move normally, but the time that showed on her clock, belonging to Mid-Childa, was what moved slowly? Was this another dimension? Where time worked normally? An alternate reality?

She couldn’t wrap her head around it. A headache threatened to emerge. She was hungry and tired. She wanted to rest. The theories felw around in her head and she tried to stop them.

She decided that rest was a good idea. So she fell asleep. Plagued by nightmares.

When she woke up, everything was as it had been before. Nothing had moved, no creature had emerged. Except for one thing. Though she might have been too tired to realize it was there before. A device. It looked like a radio. It had a Play button, a Stop button and a Record button. She pressed Play, unable to think on anything else. It urged her to push it.

“The Portal! It has been opened!” The voice was grainy, old. “Why, oh why?! This can’t be happening! These creatures they... They were not created by our experiment! They came from the portal! We can’t get out either!” The voice paused. A paper seemed to be picked up. “What is this?... Dimensional space? A closed space-continuum? Impossible... We are walking in circles!” Vivio could hear the door break and the voice panicked. ”No! Monster! Get away! Get awa-”

The recording broke off into a scream and a high-pitched growl. Silence.

The door had been broken. But the one she had entered through didn’t look broken. Which meant...

She suddenly stood up, goosebumps all over her arms. There was another door in here and one of those things had burst through it. Where was it? She had to block it.

No matter how much she searched, she couldn’t find the door mentioned in the recording. Maybe it was hidden. But that didn’t make her feel safe in here. She searched the desk and managed to find the paper the recording had talked about. It lay underneath the desk, stained with blood.

The blood was dry, but had smudged out some of the text. The rest of it read;

June, 24th. 1940.

The creatures Gördinger said had been created by us... weren’t. He lied to us. Maybe he was brainwashed by these... these aliens. They came through a portal. Stein found it this morning. We call it the Dimensional Gate. If only the creatures had not... We could have researched it. Discovered the secrets that lay dormant in our world.

The portal was found in the lower levels of the fortress. How ironic, it was even inside the library. Ever since its discovery, we have not heard anything from the outside. It is as if we are shut in... A closed space-continuum. Or something. I do not know which.

But I think I know how to reach and close the portal, even from these levels. The hidden passageway. Though only I know about it. I need to share it with the others. But for whoever will read this, for I do not think I will be alive when this is read, the controls for the hidden passage is in the fountain room. You just need to-

She just had to be in a game. All the mechanics. All the clues. The blood that manage to smudge out the most essential part of the text.

She crumpled the paper and tossed it away in anger. A dimensional portal? That’s what she came through? And the only way to get back to Mid-Childa was to go through it again. Before it closed or changed dimensions.

The fountain room. She picked up the lantern and left the office, closing the door behind her. The fountain room, again. There had to be a switch here somewhere. She eyed the fountain. It couldn’t be that easy?

She stepped into the water and reached towards the baby’s face. She inserted two fingers into its eyes and her thumb into its mouth. Then she turned it clock-wise. The face turned with her and a heavy clack echoed in the room.

“This must be a game,” she said, shaking her head. “A sick nightmare. It was so obvio-”

Her sentence was replaced by a scream as the fountain opened in half and the ground on which Vivio had been standing disappeared. She fell down, hitting her butt on the slightly slanted ground. That didn’t stop her descent into the dark, however. She slid down, picking up speed. She tried to stop, or at least to slow down, but nothing helped. The round walls flew past her, and weird lights or shadows flew past her mind.

Slowly the decline turned into an ascent and the fall flattened out. She came to a complete halt in a new room with a few lit torches in it. The lantern wasn’t with her. She had lost it in the fountain room. She had to do without it, she couldn’t bother to worry about it. It wouldn’t bring it back to her anyway.

Her head was spinning from the rush. Her vision still rolled as she observed the room. It was no more different than the corridors she had walked through. In actuality, it was completely empty. She shook her head to clear it and got up from where she had landed. She stood up, listening. Silence. That damn silence that tormented her.

She approached the door and tried the handle. It wasn’t locked. She brought it down and let the door swing out. When the next room came into view she had to clasp a hand over her mouth to stop herself from screaming. Her heart went into a race of beats. Her blood froze.

The room was the most horrifying she had come across. The monsters all... stood there. A dozen of them. They were... sleeping?. Standing straight up, their horrible eyes closed. Their bottomless maws hanging open. But they hadn’t noticed her. Not yet.

She collected herself and took a deep, calm breath. Right, sneaking time. A stealth section. Dammit.

She got down on her knees and hands. She had decided to crawl. She didn’t trust her shaking legs to carry her through this room. Of course, that brought her closer to the creatures’ legs, which wasn’t particularly nice. But did she have a choice? No.

The room was too dark for her to see far ahead. Her eyes’ night vision had adjusted, but only as far as her hands reached. That’s why she crawled slowly, carefully. She planned her movements, as to not bump into one of the monsters. She crawled along the wall. The easiest method of navigating through a room. She was bound to encounter a door after a few meters.

Then she faced a problem. A bunch of the monsters stood in a line, blocking her path. She didn’t want to go around them. She didn’t know what she would bump into. But she had to. Again.

She turned left and tried to get around. The dust on the floor lay heavy and tickled her nose. Such brilliant timing. If she sneezed now it would all be over. She brought a hand up and scratched her nose. It helped and the tickling stopped. She sighed silently, smiling at the absurdity, and continued her crawl.

A door. She could faintly see it through the darkness now. The revelation brought hope into her heart and she sped up. A brief moment of success clouded her judgement.

Her hand slipped on the floor and she tried to retain her balance on the remaining one. She bobbed back and forth on all fours, or threes now, desperately trying to stabilize.

The sudden movement brought another layer of dust from the floor. She shut her eyes and focused hard on her balance, remembering her martial arts training. Even without magic, she could do it. It was easy. Just a little more...

She made it. She recovered her balance and she was stable again. She smiled and didn’t notice the sneeze that came all of a sudden. Not with her bursting heart.

The silence was broken. All of the monsters’ eyes opened at once, immediately focusing on her. Those dots of a dark abyss. Sucking her in. Warping her mind.

Now wasn’t a time to crawl. Now it was time to run. She got up on her feet and rushed to the door, throwing it open. Her luck meant that it was unlocked. All of the monsters roared and turned to charge after her.

It was a gauntlet. The final stage of the game. Adrenaline surged again. Her blood boiled. Now or never. Again. Her muscles exploded and she ran through the corridor. She ignored the monsters that kept pouring out of the doors that she passed. She could hear their exciting growling as she passed. Their breaths stank of rotten flesh.

The library. She could see it just ahead. A dim light in the darkness. A lighthouse on the dark oceans. Inside, the portal was waiting for her, and nothing could stop her now. She wouldn’t let anything do it.

The sheer number of monsters that ran after her created a vibrating echo through the corridor. She couldn’t hear herself think, she couldn’t hear herself breath. The noise and smells turned her head into mush. But she tried to ignore them. She had to.

Salvation reached her hands as she clenched the library door’s handle and flung it open. Empty. There weren’t any monsters in here. She got inside as fast as she could and searched for something she could use as a blockade. The bookcases were an apt alternative.

She hung on one of them, trying to tilt it. Outside the door she could hear the monsters approaching. Her heart skipped a beat as they began to rattle the handle. With one last mighty pull the bookcase lost its balance and fell over, across the door. Sweating profusely and breathing so fast she thought her lungs would burst, she backed away from the door and fell on her butt. She could still hear them outside, banging. Wanting to come in. To taste her flesh.

A moment of rest. That’s what she needed. And now that moment had passed. It was over as fast as it had come. She swallowed hard and stood up again. She ran to the back of the library, where the hole, and the portal, was waiting. She stopped underneath it and looked up.

Dark matter moved in slow-motion in the air a few meters over her. She could see the moonlight still shining in the dimension that was Mid-Childa. Though she hadn’t seen the portal before, it was there now. That was all that mattered. It wanted her to enter it. She would be happy to oblige.

She jumped and grabbed a hold of a broken ledge. She slung her leg up and got a good hold on the next part with her other hand. She slung her other leg up and repeated the process until she stood, balancing on the few broken, groaning, wooden edges that remained.

She could hear the barricade break. The monsters had broken through. It spurred her on and she climbed faster. She didn’t look back. She could hear the monsters down there, looking up, drooling. But not climbing. Perhaps they were too stupid too realize how to climb. Or they belonged to this dimension now. They still growled, though. That growling that etched itself into her mind.

One meter left, but the edges she could climb were now few and unstable. She tested them carefully before reaching for a new one. They held, so far. Her feet stood on two platforms, distributing the weight. Her hands searched for another edge. The portal was so close now. She could glimpse other dimensions within it. It was hypnotising.

For a brief moment she just stared into it. Into that dark abyss with unknown worlds. Then one of the platforms she rested her feet upon broke.

Her muscles, fueled by adrenaline, reacted reflexively and managed to grab a hold of another ledge. Her heart almost burst through her chest. That’s when she decided she was done.

She pulled every last power she had. All the reserved energy. Her muscles tensed and she half-jumped, half-pulled, reaching with a thin, outstretched arm for the Dimensional Gate.

“Ahh!... Oh...”

She woke with a short scream on the desk chair before she realized where she was. This was her room. In front of her was the computer screen, ‘Game Over’ written in damp red text. That’s right... Hadn’t she been up late last night playing that horror game? What was the name again... Something with memory loss.

She pondered for a while before shrugging and standing up. It didn’t matter. That was one hell of a nightmare she had though. She was glad it was over. She tossed a glance out her window and saw the bright light of the sun and white snow falling from the sky. A beautiful day. Christmas.

Mama! She missed her so much. She had to give her a hug right now. Stupid nightmare.

She pushed the handle on the door and opened it. The morning sun shone in and warmed her face. She closed her eyes and smiled. But a very cold wind was apparent. Very cold. Had a window been broken?

When she thought of that, she also remembered that there were no windows outside her room. Where did the light come from if...

She opened her eyes and stared straight into a snowstorm. On the snow-covered mountains far away, beyond the dark abyss, beyond the fortress she knew so well, the morning sun just rose towards the sky. The sun’s rays reflected in the snow, throwing themselves back at Vivio. Blinding her. And that’s when she knew that the Dimensional Gate had changed.

To Earth, Germany, in 1940.

Well, I should consider it a plus that at the very least, she survived! So there's still a chance she might get home! Right?

Lyos groaned as he woke up and stared at what he saw. "Uh..."

"Shhh!" He blinked as he saw Yuuno trying to quiet him down. "I got up and they were like this." He gestured to Chrono, who had Amy on one side of him and Filia on the other side. "I thought they didn't like each other though..."

"I decided that it's not right to be angry at Filia when she's suffering that much." Amy said as she raised her head to look at the boys tiredly. "Go tell Admiral Lindy that I stayed up too late, and I'm sleeping in." The two nodded awkwardly. "Get out."

"Right!" They both ran out, Lyos stopping to grab his sword and Amy rolled her eyes before flopping her head back down on the pillow and snuggling up to Chrono. She looked at Filia and sighed softly. That girl really was distressed, not that Amy blamed her. 'Maybe the captain will let her come to Earth for awhile?' Amy was more worried about Filia doing something crazy and stupid if she was by herself than anything else.

"Why'd you wake up so early anyway?" Lyos asked as he stretched his back, getting his spine to pop slightly.

"I don't know..." Yuuno chuckled, his face was slightly flush as he remembered how those two were cuddled up to Chrono. For some reason, he was getting flashbacks to when he and Fate slept with Nanoha, though in that instance, it was to calm the girl down so she didn't go crazy again.

At least Nanoha hadn't had very many dreams since Death Bringer had met his end.

"Hello, Yuuno." Lindy smiled at him as she saw him and Lyos walking into the dining area. "So, tell me, how are Amy and Miss Filia doing? Is my son still alive?" She giggled at the looks she was getting from them. "What? I saw them sneaking into your room last night."

"I think they're doing okay and I think Chrono's still alive." Yuuno chuckled softly, his face slightly red. "They were just sleeping though."

"Good." Lindy smiled pleasantly.

"Um..." Lyos frowned slightly as he looked at her. "No offense, but, where are you from?" He had never seen anyone wearing the clothes that she was, though it was similar to the clothing that most of Lina's group was wearing. Not to mention that weird thing that appeared in the middle of the table before. The best he could figure was that it was some kind of weird magic.

"Ah..." Lindy tapped her chin and thought about it. "Myself, my son, Miss Fate, Miss Nanoha, Yuuno, Shiro, Amy, and Mary all come from another world, like that person who taught you how to use your power. Lina, herself, originally came from this world, but was thrown back in time and ended up on one of the worlds from where we're from."

"One of?" Lyos asked, his eyes spinning as Lindy nodded to him.

"Yes. This world is on, what's called, the Ruby-Eye staff. The worlds where we come from are located on the Chaotic Blue staff."

Lyos scratched his head and frowned slightly. "How do you know she was thrown back in time?"

Lindy wasn't sure if he was just latching onto things that he could get his mind around or if he actually understood anything, but at least he wasn't asking for massive amounts of clarification. It was a touch confusing, no matter who you were. "Well, we weren't sure completely, but we decided to head back to our world for three days. The time to travel between the worlds takes about an hour or so... We ended up back in this world just an hour after three days after we left."

"Uh..." Lyos' eyes were swirling and Lindy shook her head.

"Sorry, more used to dealing with people who understand this." Lindy smiled at him. "We were gone from this world for three days and on our world for three days, so that's how we know."

"Oh." Lyos shrugged, it wasn't like he was going to need this information in the future.

Well it's 12:20 where I am, so Merry Christmas! I managed to throw sometime together in time. It's basically a retread of something I touched briefly on in last year's fic. So here's Christmas with Subaru and Nove!

“I don’t see why we need to do this…” Nove grumbled as she wrestled with a string of tangled lights.

“Because we’re the only two home.” Subaru replied happily as she adjusted the position of the tree. “Everyone’s been so busy that if we don’t get it done now we’ll never be ready for Christmas!”

“… I don’t see what the big deal with this Christmas thing is.” Nove huffed. Such data hadn’t been programmed into her knowledge circuits by the doctor so it probably wasn’t very relevant.

“But Nove, it’s Christmas!” Subaru faced her sister. Nove briefly pondered if the emission of sparkles was a special feature of the Type Zeros. “This’ll be your first Christmas so I guess you wouldn’t know yet, but it’s the greatest time of the year! There’s snow and carolling and candy and cookies and lights and wreathes and turkey and…”

“Okay, okay, I get it! Shut up already!” Nove plugged her ears to hide from her new sister’s ramblings. “But you can have most of that stuff all year round anyways!”

“But there’s also gathering as a family, having fun together, and being nice to other people!”

“… Again, don’t you do that all the time? Why is Christmas so special that we need to do all this decorating?”

“Uh… well…” Subaru’s mouth hung open as she couldn’t find the words. “… We also get presents!”

“Oh?”

“Yeah! Everyone buys gifts for each other and exchanges them on Christmas day!”

“Well…” Nove pondered. “I guess that’s not a regular thing…”

“That’s right!” Subaru nodded. “And Santa Claus comes and gives presents to all the good girls and boys!”

“Santa who?” Nove arched an eyebrow.

“Santa Claus!” Subaru fished through a box of decorations and pulled out a figure of a fat bearded man in a red suit. “He goes around the world in a single night in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. He visits everyone and goes down their chimney and puts a gift under their tree! He then gets to eat the cookies and milk that have been put out for him and…”

“Woah woah woah!” Nove held both hands in front of her. “A fat guy, going down chimneys, giving gifts to everyone in the world?”

“Uh huh!”

“With flying reindeer?”

“Nine of them!”

“And he does this in one night?”

“That’s right!”

“… Are you making fun of me you bastard?!” Nove growled and held up her fists. “I may be adjusting to society but I’m not a damned idiot!”

“Woah, chill out Nove!” Subaru held her hands up defensively. “Everything I said is true!”

“Like hell someone like that could exist!” Nove glared.

“But Santa is real!” Subaru stated firmly. “He does exist! Every year there’s always an extra present under the tree. Dad never remembers buying it but figures that he must have. One year I even looked in the closet where he hides everything and I didn’t see the gift that I got from Santa that year. There’s only one possible explanation!”

“… You’re sure about this?” Nove questioned cautiously.

“Of course!” Subaru nodded vigorously. “I wouldn’t lie to you!”

“…” Nove gave her sister one long, hard look. “… So this Santa guy gives presents to everybody?”

“Well, not everybody. He makes a list of those who are naughty and those who are nice, and the nice people get what they want.”

“… How does he know who’s been nice?”

“He just knows! That’s the magic of Santa!”

“… What do the naughty kids get?”

“They get a lump of coal.”

“… I see…” Nove slumped her shoulders. “Guess I know what I can expect…”

“Wait, what are you talking about, Nove?”

“Santa’s going to give me a lump of coal, right?”

“He wouldn’t…”

“You said it yourself, didn’t you?” Nove snapped. “He gives bad kids lumps of coal, and I’m a bad kid…”

“No you’re not…”

“Of course I am! How could you forget how I caused so much destruction? Hurt so many people? What I did to Ginga… What I almost did to Teana… I was horrible…”

“That wasn’t your fault, Nove.” Subaru crossed over to her sister and reached out to her. “We’ve been over this. You were just following the doctor’s orders. You didn’t know any better…”

“That doesn’t excuse anything!” Nove slapped Subaru’s hand away. “I wasn’t just following the doctor’s orders… I… I honestly wanted to kill you, you know! I was so angry and…”

“That’s all in the past, Nove. It’s different now.”

“No!” Nove pushed away. “I still won’t accept that you’re the older one!” She spun around and wiped her sleeve across her eyes. “Now let’s get these decorations up! I don’t want Santa to think we’re a lazy or cheap family…”

Subaru couldn’t help but laugh.

“Stop that, it’s creepy! Now get to work!”

“But there’s also gathering as a family, having fun together, and being nice to other people!”

“Santa Claus!” Subaru fished through a box of decorations and pulled out a figure of a fat bearded man in a red suit. “He goes around the world in a single night in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. He visits everyone and goes down their chimney and puts a gift under their tree! He then gets to eat the cookies and milk that have been put out for him and…”

“Woah woah woah!” Nove held both hands in front of her. “A fat guy, going down chimneys, giving gifts to everyone in the world?”

“Uh huh!”

“With flying reindeer?”

“Nine of them!”

“And he does this in one night?”

“That’s right!”

“… Are you making fun of me you bastard?!” Nove growled and held up her fists. “I may be adjusting to society but I’m not a damned idiot!”

“Woah, chill out Nove!” Subaru held her hands up defensively. “Everything I said is true!”

“Like hell someone like that could exist!” Nove glared.

“…” Nove gave her sister one long, hard look. “… So this Santa guy gives presents to everybody?”

“… How does he know who’s been nice?”

“He just knows! That’s the magic of Santa!”

“… What do the naughty kids get?”

“They get a lump of coal.”

So yea, with Vivio's fate disclosed, and well-liked it seems, I figured I should make an attempt at this.

This will be a story CYOA with Arisa Bannings as the protagonist. There will be path choices and decisions choices.

The paths are signified by only being two possible. It might be a shortcut, more story or a different route entirely. It affects the ending, of which there is two.

The decisions are three at a time. Two wrong, one right. If a wrong one is chosen, it will play out and then return to the right path. These do not affect the endings. Knowing me, the obvious one might not be so obvious. Or it is. Or not.

I don't know how this will turn out but I think it's worth a shot. Beware I do not beta this so some phrasing might be weird. I'll try and update after a minimum of 4 replies, as often as I has energy.

This first part is a bit short, just to get it started.

The year, is MC9X. Or 20XX. The place is Earth. The soul that stands out as a light in darkness, is Arisa Bannings. A newly graduated university student, she is currently unemployed. The job market in Japan, where she lives, is shot to pieces. The situation looks hopeless. She is almost out of money. What keeps her going are her friends. They support her and encourage her to keep looking.

And it was that... which gave her another chance. One rainy day, she received a letter from a man calling himself Sir Malcom M.Night. According to the letter, he was in search of an economist that could take care of his finances. Sir Night, describing himself as a successful businessman, lived not far from Tokyo in a mansion. His credentials matched those that Arisa checked up. He seemed legit.

Her friends encouraged her to go see him and she figured, why not? It’s a chance that was presented to her and it pays really well. Not to mention it’s relatively close to where she lives. She wouldn’t have to move. She could stay in the same city as her friends and family.

She took it. A job interview was scheduled the day after the phone call and she took the bus out to the mansion. It wasn’t quite as she had expected it.

“Well, this was... big.”

She stood in front of a large metal door. It was probably more than a hundred years old. It looked so massive you would need a bulldozer to break it down. Behind it would be the entrance hall to Roadside Manor, the mansion in which Sir Night lived.

She pushed the intercom next to the door. “It’s Miss Banning. I’m here about the interview.”

Nothing happened and no one replied. After a few seconds she started to check her watch and observe her surroundings.

“Really? No one is home? This suc-”

The massive gate suddenly clunked and swung open, slowly. The hinges whined under the rusty metal being rubbed together. It told of the sheer weight of the gate.

“I guess someone is home,” Arisa said and entered.

The entrance hall was huge, fitting the gate before it. A large red mat was spread out on the floor and the room itself was adorned with furniture and sculptures in a European style. It reminded Arisa of England... But only a bit. She hadn’t been in England for a long time, but even she could tell this was not in an English style. It was something else.

“Sir Night? Hello?”

Nothing. The mansion was silent and refused to reply to her shouts. She took a couple of more steps until she stood in the middle of the hall. She looked around, trying to see a sign of recent activity. Dust hang thick in the air.

She jumped when a loud noise echoed through the hall. She spun around only to find that the huge gate had closed behind her. The two tall windows next to it slowly darkened, shutting out the light on the outside. An impossibility considering their age. Unless the sun had already set. But it was in the middle of the day.

She could only hear her own breathing now. Fear crept bit by bit out from its hiding place. But what was she afraid for? Nothing, that’s what. Sir Night was somewhere in the mansion. Perhaps he was a trickster. There was a wide range of explanations for this. She would try and found out by looking through the mansion.

In front of her was a staircase leading to the second floor. To her right was a door that let some light slip out from inside. She pondered what way to go.

A: Take the stairs
B: Go right, through the door

I woke up to the sound of the alarm going off. I opened my eyes slowly and realized that the scenery was not my room-come to think of it, it wasnt even close to resembling a bedroom.

"Ow my head..." I slowly raised my hand to massage my temple for several moments before rising and sitting upright. "Why does it hurt so much? I know we werent drinking yesterday..."

I continued looking around the room behind me and noticed that the scenery was somewhat resemblant to Yuuno's place. I sighed in relief knowing that I was at least in a familiar place before something odd caught my attention. My brow creased together when I saw who was sleeping on the other couch. It was a girl with long blond hair and looked almost exactly (if not exactly) like me.

My eyes widened as a thousand thoughts raced through my head. "Alicia?!" was the first "No but shes dead! There is no way Alicia could be sleeping here right now! This must be some kind of dream or something." I pinched my cheek to make sure and swallowed my small cry of pain "Ok" I continued "I'm not dreaming, and I am 100% sure that is not me" I looked more closely "So...who is this?" I glanced around the room again "Yuuno! He should know!"

I began frantically running around the house looking for him as quietly and quickly as possible. For some reason my body wasnt acting the way it should. It was probably due to whatever was giving me the headache from earlier. I continued running around the house frantically searching until his image caught the corner of my eye

"Yuuno!" I called out as I ran back and collided with him "ack!" I cried as I hit the ground "Are you ok?" I asked as I opened my eyes "...!" what I saw...stunned me.

I was staring at the image of Yuuno Scrya...but in a mirror. His facial expression was just as stunned and worrying as I was feeling that very moment. To make matters even more complicated, the Yuuno in the mirror seemed to be mimicking my every move.

"No...way..." I breathed out slowly as I crawled forward towards the mirror "is this..." I looked down at my hands "me?" Panic started to settle in as I was becoming drawn to two facts: 1) the girl sleeping on the couch wasnt Alicia...so that means that 2) the person sleeping there is...

I frantically stood up and ignored the slight dizziness that came with it. I made absolutely sure that the body moving at my command was indeed that which I was seeing the mirror. Once I had gotten to that conclusion I ran back downstairs to the living room

"Yuuno! Yuuno!!" I started to shake him...her...me...whatever! At this point my body was asking for answers and right now he (who was in my body) was the only one who could tell me anything. "Yuuno!" I raised my voice, my actions being more and more frantic. It even got to the point where I was shaking myself-erm him just to get his attention

"Fate..." he started to wake up "What is going on so early in the mor-whoa!!!!" he-well she...argh!- jolted upright and started to get dizzy as well.

"Yuuno!" I grabbed my shoulders and looked into my own eyes-which feels very weird by the way-to make sure he was paying attention "What happened?! Why are we like this?! Why are you in my body?! How do we fix it?!" I just started firing.

"Fate!" he called through all the shaking "calm down!"

'Calm down'?! Did he just tell me to 'calm down'?! Maybe it was because my brain-or his brain-wasnt fully awake yet, but this was a rather dire situation! I looked down at my real body and noticed that the clothing was rather...light.

"Baka!" I yelled at myself "Why am I getting so embarassed looking at my own body?!" I shook my current head to try to clear my thoughts and couldnt help but blush as I coudlnt help but look at myself. "Ok...focus. The sooner we find the cause, the sooner we get things back to normal."

"Fate?" he called my name again "Are you calm now?" he gripped my shoulders-erm his shoulders, whatever! You know what I mean! "Let's analyze what happened" he sat up and began thinking.

I had to slap the hands away several times when I thought they were going to my chest instead of the chin where they usually went when he was in his "thinking" mode. The situaion itself was awkward enough, but the fact that I was staring at myself through another person's eyes made me more self-conscious.

"Ok, what do you remember?" he asked when both of us had finally calmed down "Think...anything at all."

"Hmm..." I racked my memory and concentrated on what happened "I remember us being in your special storage area for unknown lost logia" I started, trying to slowly peice together the sequence of events

"Right, I remember up to that point" Yuuno agreed "But what happened after that? Did you pick up something?"

"Umm..." I thought harder "I remember grabbing something that looked like a telescope and thought that it would be perfect for the training camp that Vivio was going to this weekend and-" my eyes widened as realization shot through me "Yuuno...was that a lost logia?!"

"A telescope looking device?" he started thinking as well "I dont remember having anything like that in there, where was it?"

"It was on the messy shelf on the third row near the back" I answered and watched as the color drained from his face "What?"

"That section..." he began "was for the unsorted and very dangerous lost logia" he gulped "even I know very little about those items. I was planning to start working on identifying them over the next few months..." he looked around "Where is the telescope?"

I frantically started searching the immediate area, but knew that I was basically just wasting my time. "I dont know...it should still be in lab!" realization dawned on me "But if its at the lab...how did we get here?"

We started at each other for several moments and coudlnt come up with any answers no matter how hard we tried. The only thing we knew was that we were in each other's bodies and that we were somehow in Yuuno's house instead of being in the lab.

"Someone had to have brought us here..." he deduced "Unless the effect of the logia includes erasing part of our memories. In either case we have several problems to worry about now."

"Which would be?" I started listing several of them already, but they were probably a little different from what his calculating brain was coming up with.

"For starters we need to figure out exactly what that Logia did, what happened afterwards, who brought us here, how many people-if any-know about the switch, and where the lost logia is now." he sighed "This is a bad situation all around: we know next to nothing and we dont even know where to start trying to fix this."

"We should list out our priorities first: which should be getting the logia back." I stated "At least then we can figure out how to operate it, right?"

"Ok, we should do that. So we gotta get back to the lab" he responded "But we absolutely cant let anyone know that we switched places" his expression became grim

"Huh? Why not?" I tilted my head in confusion "It would be better if we asked everyone for help in this matter wouldnt it?"

"That would be the ideal situation, however what if the enemy takes advantage of the situation and attacks us with one of our aces down?" his eyes became serious "I know you are a powerful mage, but I have never really taken any lessons in magical combat, not to mention the fact that you'd have trouble dealing with my powers because they are completely different from what you are used to."

"I see your point" I nodded "Alright lets go shower and get ready to head back to the lab and-" I cut myself off when he started blushing and looking away "On second thought lets just go"

"Agreed" he nodded and stood up "let's at least eat breakfast before-"

*beep*beep*beep* A monitor popped up with the words "Incomming call". It flashed for several moments before an image popped up on screen

"Good morning" the called greeted "You two doing well?"

"Great.." I thought to myself "As if things cant get any worse..." I cleared my throat and tried my best to respond, I am Yuuno Scrya right now so I should respond like he normally would in order to alleviate any suspicion that something might be wrong. "Good morning...Hayate~"

Other than that Merry Christmas! its 239am and the first break that I've had in the past 72 hours x.x hope you guys have a less chaotic time~

Huraker raised an eyebrow at Riksfalto, who was still just laying where she was, her eye closed. "Lazy." She moved to kick the sleeping Mazoku, only to find her foot stopped by a hand. "Well, looks like you've recovered."

Riksfalto smirked as she opened her eye. "I told you, only a couple of days." After letting go of Huraker's foot, she stood up. "So... What's our next move?"

"Well, honestly, I don't care what it is..." The two servants of Dolphin turned and gulped as they saw a certain Mazoku floating in mid-air. "But, I wonder, which one of you gave those Dragons extra power?" Xellos had his eyes open as he looked at the two in annoyance. "And I better like your answer."

"Dragons with extra power?" Riksfalto asked in confusion. "What the heck are you talking about?" She gasped as Xellos appeared next to her and stared her right in the eye. Hard.

"No, I suppose you wouldn't know..." He then turned to look at Huraker. "How about you, my dear? Do you have any clue why about forty Gold Dragons, including their Elder suddenly got more powerful?"

"Don't look at me." Huraker raised her hands up peacefully. "I've never been interested in those hypocrites. My interest was always that one boy. Anyway, you might try Sherra."

"I have tried, I can't seem to find her." Xellos grumbled as he stepped back. "Very well then." He faded away leaving a parting shot to the two. "I suggest that you two just sit back."

Riksfalto grumbled and shook her head. "Not going to happen." She disappeared into thin air. She had her own reasons for it.

Huraker shook her head and shuddered. 'Ruby-Eyes, dammit!' She cursed to herself. Had Xellos decided to deal with them, her plans would have come to nothing. At least he decided not to bother them too much. Still, she'd have to be careful. It was almost time.

And she had to admit, she liked the idea that she had gotten from those two girls better than her original plan.

Valgaav sneered as he saw the Golden Dragons flock around him. "Unbelievable, you dammed lizards would attack now?" He was almost certain he could find Jillas soon, he just needed more time, but then these creatures appeared in front of him. He growled as one, dressed in robes, with hair that was a mix of blond and black, floated forward.

"Valgaav..."

"You!" Valgaav's eyes widened as his pupils shrank when he heard that voice. "You're that bastard!" He gripped Ragudo Mezegis tightly as the Supreme Elder smirked at him.

"My name's Dyn, boy..." He snorted as he looked at Valgaav. "I suggest that you hand the Weapon of Light over to me."

"Or you'll kill me?" The metal blade disappeared into the weapon as it lit up to his will.

"Oh, you're going to die either way." Dyn nodded to him as he floated back and several of the Dragons' weapons started glowing red. "But we were going to make it quick and painless. Now you'll need to die painfully."

"Ruby-Eye Blade!" The Dragons called as one, the ends of their staffs becoming engulfed in red energy.

Erulogos frowned and gripped Bodigar, which Sirius had given him for his venture out into the world. "Guess I'll have to interfere."

"No you won't." His eyes widened as Sherra appeared in front of him, holding Dulgofa in front of her as she took a stance. "You sealed away most of your Astral Body, I know that, it's why you're not as dangerous as you could be."

"Light Come Forth! Bodigar, the Axe that Bashes!" Erulogos called out as the axe lit up and the edges became serrated. "Mazoku, if you don't get out of my way..."

"Sorry, can't do that." She smirked at him. "But give me that Axe and I'll gladly get out of yoru way."

Erulogos didn't answer as he swung his weapon forward, a wave of power flashing at the General, who disappeared, only to reappear in front of the Shinzoku, their weapons clashing. "You don't understand, what use could you have for these weapons?"

Sherra smirked at him. "Why should you care? We Mazoku are going to revive our master one way or another." She chuckled at the way he growled and the two disappeared from sight.

Meanwhile Valgaav had taken the fight to the ground when it became too obvious that in the air, the Dragons had too much of an advantage. Not to mention that spell, whatever it was, was strong enough that Ragudo Mezegis couldn't cut through it like it should have. He jumped back as a Dragon tried to take his head off. "Too bad." He hissed, his wings becoming visible as his hands and arms got covered in dark scales before he gripped his weapon with both hands and fired a powerful lancing shot that bisected the Dragon neatly. "Dyn, you coward! First you come to my people, saying that you want to make an alliance, and then you kill them! And now! Now you make a deal with a Mazoku for more power?!"

"It's not different than what you did." Dyn said as a pentagram lit up around Valgaav. "Making a deal with the Demon Dragon King, Gaav..."

"I was dying!" Valgaav hissed as the Zelas Brid snapped at his body, tearing into his flesh. "At least I have that excuse!" He cut through the binds of light that were coming out of the ground before leaping away when a Chaotic Disintegrate crashed to where he was a moment ago. "You can still use your original magic?!"

"Of course, unlike you," Dyn held a hand up and bent his fingers like he was trying to make a fist, before pointing it at Valgaav, "we're not Mazoku."

"Damn you." Valgaav fired a blast at another Dragon, who sliced it in half with the Ruby-Eye Blade.

"Supreme King with the frozen soul.
Grant me the power of your icy rage!
Dynast Breath!"

"What?" Valgaav gasped as his body was completely encased in ice in an instant.

Dyn pointed down at the frozen body and the Dragons nodded, five of them rushing towards his frozen form to shatter and destroy him.

Moments before they got to him, the ice shattered from within as Valgaav let out a roar. Glaring at them all, he snarled. "I'll kill all of you before you leave here today."

"Big talk from a traitor." Dyn spoke up as he snapped his fingers.

"I would rather be a traitor to my dead race than turn on my companions." Valgaav blocked one attack with Ragudo Mezegis.

"Big talk from a Mazoku, let's see what you can really do."

"GLADLY!" Valgaav screamed as his aura snapped around him and he let his rage flow through him. He was going to need all the extra power he could get to deal with these enemies.

Miles away, unknown to the fighting that was going on, Gourry stretched as he walked around town. It was going to be the last day that any of them were going to be there, and he wanted to see if there was anything interesting in town or not.

"Kitty!" He blinked as he heard an old-sounding and raspy voice call out from the alleyway. "Here kitty. Where did you go?"

He blinked and looked as he saw someone covered in a brown cloak. "Excuse me? Are you looking for your kitty?"

"Yes... My kitty ran under this building and I'm afraid that my old bones just aren't as limber as they used to be." A shaky finger pointed to the small hole under the building in question. "Would you be a kind lad and get my dear kitty for me?"

"Aww... Sure." Gourry smiled as he got down and crawled into the space under the building. "Are you sure that the cat's in here?"

"Yes." The old person called out. "Just keep calling for kitty."

"Okay." Gourry looked around, but couldn't see anything. "Kitty?" He moved forward slightly and blinked as he found something round in front of him. "Are you kitty?" Picking it up, he blinked in confusion. "This doesn't feel like a kitty... Though it's hissing like one." He laughed and started backing up so he could get some better light, before the "kitty" in question exploded in his face, sending up a lot of smoke. "Hey! What the heck?" He coughed as the smoke filled his eyes and lungs, causing his eyes to tear up in an instant.

"Hahahahahahaha!" The "old" person laughed before grabbing the Sword of Light and throwing the cloak off, revealing Jillas as he ran from Gourry. "I got it! Lord Valgaav will be so happy!"

"Hey!" Gourry coughed as he got up. "Get," he coughed again as he ran after Jillas, "back here!"

"Lord Valgaav, I'm coming!" Jillas threw a bomb behind him, which blew up some trees, knocking them over and blocking the way for Gourry to follow.

"Dammit!" Gourry hissed as he grabbed the trees and threw them out of the way. "Come back with my sword!"

"AHHH!" Jillas screamed as he noticed that. "What are you?" No normal person had that much strength! He pulled out some more bombs and threw them at the ground, causing several explosions as he ran as fast as he could.

Gourry coughed and shook his head. "No..." He frowned, before turning and looking as he heard his name get called out. "Lina..."

"What the heck happened?" Lina stared at Gourry, his clothes were a mess. "Don't tell me you were wrestling a pig or something."

Gourry shook his head. "I went to find a kitty that was under a building, and when I got it, it exploded and then this person stole the Sword of Light and took off and made more explosions."

Lina stared, before growling. "Just great." She closed her eyes for a moment. "Hey, Lindy, can you get us all to the ship, looks like something's changed, we need to group and plan."

"Not a problem, just give me a moment."

"What's up, Lina?" Gourry blinked as she smiled at him. "Whaaaaa?" He gasped as he disappeared in a flash, before he reappeared on the ship in orbit, along with Lina and the others, who got there a moment later.

"What's going on?" Fate asked, and gulped as she saw the serious look on Lina's face.

"We need to get to the big table room." Lina nodded at Fate, before smiling at Filia and Lyos, who were looking around in confusion. "Sorry about the sudden trip, but we needed to make a quick stop."

"Where are we?" Lyos asked and blinked as Lindy walked into the area.

"You're on the TSAB ship, the Arthra..." She looked at Lina. "This better be important."

Lina nodded at her. "Seems that the Sword of Light was stolen."

"WHAT?!" The others yelled and looked at Gourry, who held up his hands.

"Sorry, I was trying to help someone find their kitty and they tricked me." Gourry rubbed the back of his head and laughed nervously.

"Ah, you're all here." Mary smiled as she saw the group. "I was just going to call you when the teleporters went off, so I came to see what's going on. Anyway..." She smiled and held up a golden triangular pendant. "This is for you, Fate."

"Bardiche." Fate smiled and took it from Mary. "Are you okay?"

"Yes sir. Fully ready to go."

Fate nodded and looked at Mary as she pulled out the Blast Sword from behind her and nodded to Shiro.

"Anyway, the problem was that you couldn't sheath this, right?" Seeing the nods, she pulled out a metal sheath and dropped it straight down, before shaking it back and forth slightly. "Problem solved!"

"How..." More than one person said at once and Mary smirked at them.

"I'm a mad scientist, you should know this!" Mary laughed for a moment, before calming down and explaining to them. "The metal is nearly unbreakable on its own, so, I just found a way to break the metal down to it's core components through analysis. Using that, I managed to synthasize metal that's just as durable. But the true power of the Blast Sword is that it absorbs magic to get stronger, harder and sharper. So, I had to make sure that the new Blaster metal, as I'm calling it, could absorb the magic FROM the Blast Sword to strengthen the sheath. It's not quite as good as the Blast Sword, but unless you use the sheath to block the Blast Sword or something like it, it should be able to keep the Blast Sword from accidentally cutting through the sheath." She tossed the sheathed weapon to Shiro, who caught it. "Oh! And Chrono, Durandal got fixed." She held up a card and tossed it to him.

"...You were busy." Chrono admitted and Mary just laughed at him.

"Oh, don't worry, it was easy to fix that. It only took us like fifteen minutes."

"Captain!" Amy's voice was heard over the intercom and most of the group jumped in surprise. "We're seeing a major fight going on only a few kilometers from where Lina's group was."

"We should go down there and..." Amelia blinked as Lina held up a hand.

"Not yet, Amelia. I want to make sure that we know what we're getting into."

"Of course." Lindy smiled as they headed for the bridge.

"Try to not let it overwhelm you." Zelgadis said, even though he was looking around with wonder on his face. "I still can't believe that something like this exists."

Lina shook her head. "At least you're taking this better than I did for my first few months on Earth."

"Really?" Nanoha looked at her mother in confusion. "What was so hard about it?"

"I was suddenly thrust a few hundred years into the future in terms of technology, it was loud and I wasn't used to any of it."

"Oh." Lina smiled at the confused looks that the children all had. To them, such technology was pretty common-place, but it had been extremely new to her when she landed on Earth.

"I have it, now I need to..." Jillas gasped as he saw a woman appear in front of him. "You... You're like Lord Valgaav..."

"Not quite." The woman smiled at him pleasantly. "My name is Huraker, but, yes, I am a Mazoku."

"What do you want?" Jillas asked as she shook her head.

"Nothing much, I'm just going to send you to your master, he's in danger of dying right now." Jillas' one good eye widened.

"Lord... Valgaav..." Jillas whimpered and gripped the Sword of Light tightly. "Take me too him."

"Of course." Huraker smiled as she teleported Jillas to Valgaav's location. "Let's see what happens next." She chuckled and disappeared.

Sherra grimaced as she and Erulogos faced off against each other warily. Her body was covered in nicks and cuts that were healing up, though she had given pretty good, considering that his body had cracks all over it. "I'd suggest you give up." If he had his Astral Body with him, she wouldn't have stood a chance, as it was, she was barely able to keep up with him.

"Why don't you, Mazoku?" He snarled and held Bodigar in front of him tightly. He knew she was right, unless he killed her now, she was going to kill him. "I can't let these weapons fall into your hands."

Sherra chuckled, before disappearing and reappearing beside him, Dulgofa stabbing him in the side. "I told you, you should give up." She was lucky, she knew it too. Grabbing Bodigar from his hands, she smirked and kicked him away as he grabbed his damaged side. "I'd suggest you take care of that before you die... Shinzoku." Still, she was too worn out to do much else. Turning and snorting as she saw Valgaav fall to his knees as the last four Dragons, and Dyn surround the hybrid. "Oh well, they'll get that one for Lord Dynast." She chuckled and disappeared.

"D...Dammit." Erulogos growled, before disappearing as well. This wasn't going to end well.

"Lord Valgaav!" Jillas gasped as he saw his master on his knees, bleeding freely from several wounds. Around him were dead Dragons in piles, their blood tainting the grass red.

"Jillas... Run..." Valgaav gasped as he tried to stand up. "Just run..."

"Lord Valgaav..." Jillas ran to the injured hybrid's side and glared at the Dragons. "Leave him alone!"

"Ah, another Weapon of Light." Dyn nodded as he saw the hilt in Jillas' hands. "I'll tell you what... Give us the weapons and we'll kill you quickly."

Jillas snarled as he recalled Valgaav coming to his aid in the past. "Lord Valgaav... He didn't need to come and save me... He came to me when no one else would, saved my life and protected me when I was in trouble. And..." Jillas grabbed Ragudo Mezegis from Valgaav's weak grip.

"Jillas, what..."

"You expect me to leave him alone?! Even if he's like Lord Gaav was, he's my friend."

Valgaav stared at Jillas in shock. "Jillas... You... Knew?"

"How touching..." Dyn said as he towered over them. "Now then... Just..."

Jillas growled and gripped both tightly. "I won't let you harm Lord Valgaav!" He screamed, both weapons lighting up in response and blasting a powerful shot forward, killing the Dragons on either side of Dyn in an instant. Tears leaked out of Jillas' eye as he crossed the blades. "I won't... WHAAA?!" The two weapons resonnated together and started merging, creating a powerful force of energy that had everyone looking on in shock.

"You fool..." Dyn grumbled and looked at his remaining followers. "Let us retreat for now, the power will kill them off and we'll just come back for the weapons." The other two nodded and disappeared.

"What should I do, Lord Valgaav?"

The hybrid grimaced, was this it? Did his ambition end here? "I... Don't know..." He admitted, groaning in pain.

"Quick." The two blinked as they saw Almace, holding Nezzard, appear before them. "Cast a Black magic spell at me. I can combine it with my Holy magic to beat this."

Valgaav groaned, but wasn't in the mood to argue. Concentrating what he could, he fired a sphere of Black magic at the Shinzoku, who combined it with his Holy magic and fired it back at the two weapons, causing them to forcibly cancel out and power down.

"I warned you, didn't I?" Almace walked over and picked up Ragudo Mezegis and Gorun Nova. "Do not cross these weapons with each other." He sighed as he saw the dead bodies and closed his eye. "Farewell..."

"Wait!" Jillas held a hand up. "Lord Valgaav needs help, please help him!"

Almace looked at the two, before sighing. "Very well..." He disappeared, along with Jillas and Valgaav, leaving a field of dead Dragons behind.

I woke up to the sound of the alarm going off. I opened my eyes slowly and realized that the scenery was not my room-come to think of it, it wasnt even close to resembling a bedroom.

"Ow my head..." I slowly raised my hand to massage my temple for several moments before rising and sitting upright. "Why does it hurt so much? I know we werent drinking yesterday..."

I continued looking around the room behind me and noticed that the scenery was somewhat resemblant to Yuuno's place. I sighed in relief knowing that I was at least in a familiar place before something odd caught my attention. My brow creased together when I saw who was sleeping on the other couch. It was a girl with long blond hair and looked almost exactly (if not exactly) like me.

My eyes widened as a thousand thoughts raced through my head. "Alicia?!" was the first "No but shes dead! There is no way Alicia could be sleeping here right now! This must be some kind of dream or something." I pinched my cheek to make sure and swallowed my small cry of pain "Ok" I continued "I'm not dreaming, and I am 100% sure that is not me" I looked more closely "So...who is this?" I glanced around the room again "Yuuno! He should know!"

I began frantically running around the house looking for him as quietly and quickly as possible. For some reason my body wasnt acting the way it should. It was probably due to whatever was giving me the headache from earlier. I continued running around the house frantically searching until his image caught the corner of my eye

"Yuuno!" I called out as I ran back and collided with him "ack!" I cried as I hit the ground "Are you ok?" I asked as I opened my eyes "...!" what I saw...stunned me.

I was staring at the image of Yuuno Scrya...but in a mirror. His facial expression was just as stunned and worrying as I was feeling that very moment. To make matters even more complicated, the Yuuno in the mirror seemed to be mimicking my every move.

"No...way..." I breathed out slowly as I crawled forward towards the mirror "is this..." I looked down at my hands "me?" Panic started to settle in as I was becoming drawn to two facts: 1) the girl sleeping on the couch wasnt Alicia...so that means that 2) the person sleeping there is...

I frantically stood up and ignored the slight dizziness that came with it. I made absolutely sure that the body moving at my command was indeed that which I was seeing the mirror. Once I had gotten to that conclusion I ran back downstairs to the living room

"Yuuno! Yuuno!!" I started to shake him...her...me...whatever! At this point my body was asking for answers and right now he (who was in my body) was the only one who could tell me anything. "Yuuno!" I raised my voice, my actions being more and more frantic. It even got to the point where I was shaking myself-erm him just to get his attention

"Fate..." he started to wake up "What is going on so early in the mor-whoa!!!!" he-well she...argh!- jolted upright and started to get dizzy as well.

"Yuuno!" I grabbed my shoulders and looked into my own eyes-which feels very weird by the way-to make sure he was paying attention "What happened?! Why are we like this?! Why are you in my body?! How do we fix it?!" I just started firing.

"Fate!" he called through all the shaking "calm down!"

'Calm down'?! Did he just tell me to 'calm down'?! Maybe it was because my brain-or his brain-wasnt fully awake yet, but this was a rather dire situation! I looked down at my real body and noticed that the clothing was rather...light.

"Baka!" I yelled at myself "Why am I getting so embarassed looking at my own body?!" I shook my current head to try to clear my thoughts and couldnt help but blush as I coudlnt help but look at myself. "Ok...focus. The sooner we find the cause, the sooner we get things back to normal."

"Fate?" he called my name again "Are you calm now?" he gripped my shoulders-erm his shoulders, whatever! You know what I mean! "Let's analyze what happened" he sat up and began thinking.

I had to slap the hands away several times when I thought they were going to my chest instead of the chin where they usually went when he was in his "thinking" mode. The situaion itself was awkward enough, but the fact that I was staring at myself through another person's eyes made me more self-conscious.

"Ok, what do you remember?" he asked when both of us had finally calmed down "Think...anything at all."

"Hmm..." I racked my memory and concentrated on what happened "I remember us being in your special storage area for unknown lost logia" I started, trying to slowly peice together the sequence of events

"Right, I remember up to that point" Yuuno agreed "But what happened after that? Did you pick up something?"

"Umm..." I thought harder "I remember grabbing something that looked like a telescope and thought that it would be perfect for the training camp that Vivio was going to this weekend and-" my eyes widened as realization shot through me "Yuuno...was that a lost logia?!"

"A telescope looking device?" he started thinking as well "I dont remember having anything like that in there, where was it?"

"It was on the messy shelf on the third row near the back" I answered and watched as the color drained from his face "What?"

"That section..." he began "was for the unsorted and very dangerous lost logia" he gulped "even I know very little about those items. I was planning to start working on identifying them over the next few months..." he looked around "Where is the telescope?"

I frantically started searching the immediate area, but knew that I was basically just wasting my time. "I dont know...it should still be in lab!" realization dawned on me "But if its at the lab...how did we get here?"

We started at each other for several moments and coudlnt come up with any answers no matter how hard we tried. The only thing we knew was that we were in each other's bodies and that we were somehow in Yuuno's house instead of being in the lab.

"Someone had to have brought us here..." he deduced "Unless the effect of the logia includes erasing part of our memories. In either case we have several problems to worry about now."

"Which would be?" I started listing several of them already, but they were probably a little different from what his calculating brain was coming up with.

"For starters we need to figure out exactly what that Logia did, what happened afterwards, who brought us here, how many people-if any-know about the switch, and where the lost logia is now." he sighed "This is a bad situation all around: we know next to nothing and we dont even know where to start trying to fix this."

"We should list out our priorities first: which should be getting the logia back." I stated "At least then we can figure out how to operate it, right?"

"Ok, we should do that. So we gotta get back to the lab" he responded "But we absolutely cant let anyone know that we switched places" his expression became grim

"Huh? Why not?" I tilted my head in confusion "It would be better if we asked everyone for help in this matter wouldnt it?"

"That would be the ideal situation, however what if the enemy takes advantage of the situation and attacks us with one of our aces down?" his eyes became serious "I know you are a powerful mage, but I have never really taken any lessons in magical combat, not to mention the fact that you'd have trouble dealing with my powers because they are completely different from what you are used to."

"I see your point" I nodded "Alright lets go shower and get ready to head back to the lab and-" I cut myself off when he started blushing and looking away "On second thought lets just go"

"Agreed" he nodded and stood up "let's at least eat breakfast before-"

*beep*beep*beep* A monitor popped up with the words "Incomming call". It flashed for several moments before an image popped up on screen

"Good morning" the called greeted "You two doing well?"

"Great.." I thought to myself "As if things cant get any worse..." I cleared my throat and tried my best to respond, I am Yuuno Scrya right now so I should respond like he normally would in order to alleviate any suspicion that something might be wrong. "Good morning...Hayate~"

Other than that Merry Christmas! its 239am and the first break that I've had in the past 72 hours x.x hope you guys have a less chaotic time~

"WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!" Amy yelled and looked at Randy, who shook his head.

"I don't know! The reading was off the charts! If it had gone on any longer, it would have threatened the whole planet!" Randy shivered heavily as the readings were still coming in. "Such power... It's like... Like..."

"SSS, huh?" Lindy said as she walked in, her face cast in a serious look. "Can we trace them?"

"Actually, now that our scanners aren't being screwed up by the over-flow of massive magic, we're getting several high energy readings from the planet." Randy said as a screen came up, revealing what had happened on the planet, just as everyone came into the bridge.

"Valgaav..." Filia said softly as she saw him injured and laying there, and Jillas grabbing the Weapons of Light and holding off the Dragons. "I'm sorry."

"He can't hear you." Chrono spoke to her softly. "This is just showing us what happened after the fact... Wait! Rewind this... Now, sector 2 C and enhance."

Everyone gasped as they saw Sherra shoving her sword into Erulogos. None of them knew him, but the fact was, she grabbed a Weapon of Light and then disappeared.

"This is bad." Lina muttered to herself. "That was Sherra... She's not working with Valgaav anymore it seems like. And if she has one of the weapons..."

"Then Dynast has it by now." Zelgadis muttered and narrowed his eyes. "I don't look forward having to fight a Lord. Especially one with a Weapon of Light."

"Where would she go?" Gourry asked and Lina sighed heavily.

"Probably to the Kataart Mountains." Zelgadis muttered softly. "That's where most Mazoku call home these days anyway."

Lina frowned softly, there was something that she was missing. "Can you follow them?"

"Not a problem actually..." Randy said as the scanners picked up the teleportation directions. "After we were able to account for the massive energy differences, we've found where that Valgaav person went to."

"So, we're going to go down in force and deal with him and..."

"No." Lina interrupted Chrono, who stared at her. "I'd like to, but there's something else right now." She looked at them seriously. "Dyn wanted Filia to break the barriers on that temple for him. Filia, you, me, Nanoha, Amelia, Shiro and Gourry are going to go there." She looked at Zelgadis. "Zelgadis, you, Fate, Lyos, Yuuno and Chrono should go after them. Valgaav's injured right now and we can find out what's going on from them exactly." And if he tried to fight back, it would be better to have two people who could use Holy power go against him.

Zelgadis nodded and looked at the others, to see if any of them had any objection to this plan.

When no one spoke out against it, Lindy nodded. "Alright then. Be prepared for anything."

"We will." Chrono said as he went to his group, they were going to teleport first, since there was a signal they could trace.

After they were gone, Lina had Filia point to where the Ancient Dragon temple was. "Are you sure that I can do it? I mean, all my power was sealed away..."

"I suspect that you can still break the barrier, even with your power sealed up." Lina muttered softly as she put a hand on Filia's shoulder. "Because, in your current state, Dyn wanted you to break that barrier."

"You ready?" Amy asked as the others stood on the transporter, getting a nod from the others.

Eh, you know, I wasn't sure if I should say something, but I guess sentimental is the mood of the hour, so...

This was the first place I ever posted on AS, right here in this thread. I came here just looking to read some decent fanfiction, and honestly, my time on these forums has turned out to be deeply fulfilling in more ways than I could have dreamed. You're all wonderful people and getting to know you has been an experience I wouldn't trade for the world.

So... It's a bit late to be saying this, but Merry Christmas, all of you. I hope you had a great day, and have a Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you this time next year too.

At which point I will have maybe actually finished a story.

Thanks I certainly like to think I bring something to the table, but I know there are times I can get all whiney and annoying, going on about how I'm no good because I'm not popular or whatever. Even though I know I have a few dedicated fans out there.

Thanks Though I don't think anyone here hates me. Are indifferent towards me, perhaps, but no downright hate... Though if I'm wrong I'd hope they'd feel free to point out the problem

Anyways, thanks for that review too. This is the first time any fic of mine has reached 100 reviews.

Thanks, though again I'm only a hassle when I'm whiney, which is thankfully not all the time

As for updates, those are on the back burner because I have another job I'm long over due on: Gotta review those episodes of Super Robot Wars! Then I have an assignment for this correspondance writing course I'm taking.
