The game is not worth playing if you're only in it just because of its popularity, honestly. I love it because of the community and the girls' voice.
However I have seen some guys who don't know a single Japanese word playing this.

It's a whole lot harder than it looks, and it looks like there IS such a thing as getting a particular ship type way too soon. See this? I've got Yamashiro (a Battleship), Hagurou (a Heavy Cruiser), and several light cruisers at level 5 (including a rare Yubari), and I don't have the resources to repair, refit, AND maintain them after a prolonged fight.

Oh hey, found the 4koma of the series finally. Kind of fun, and on some level it requires you to have SOME knowledge of the real-life ships' quirks and history to get the most value. For example, the joke about Abukuma avoiding Kitakami flew above my head, or Mutsu complaining about her third turret, but I DID get the part about Akagi's trauma, and how Kaga's terrified of both Shoukaku and Zuikaku (WE HAVEN'T SUNK YET!).

Also, Shirayuki is a big pervert in training. Fubuki better watch herself.

Makes me wonder if they're gonna use the 4koma as a base, or do soemthing else entirely.

While we wait, I registered for the game. At this point I'm at level 8, and a few things I've observed:

* Still not seeing Naka, despite her infamy as RNG saying "screw you!" However, I HAVE gotten 4 Isuzus now. Light cruisers are always welcome, but some of my Twitter contacts have told me that her real value can be seen post-remodeling (for her default equipment), especially since she has an early remodelling level (12). Haven't gotten any of mine to that point yet (highest is level 8), but I can see why people "farm" her.

* Speaking of Naka, I need to get both her and Sendai to unlock the third fleet slot. Apparently I need to focus on this ASAP, to be able to make the most of expeditions (and put all those kiddies, I mean, destroyers, to good use).

I swear, Kaga and Akagi are the best. As in actually funny and with yuri potential to boot. Though, as someone who loved Kiniro Mosaic, I feel more and more tempted to add a more popular choice to my favorites...

I don't think any historic knowledge is necessary to enjoy Mutsu's joke, though...
