This translation methodology discussion is interesting, but not really best-suited for this particular topic. I also imagine that should be a number of other similar topics elsewhere, since this issue comes up from time-to-time.

I'd ask that we try to keep this thread more focused on this particular anime.

To be told, I'm actually really scared. My expectation for this series as a whole and for certain scenes are currently so high I don't know if it's even possible to match it. I mean I can't help but feel some how, some way, censorship is going to make its way into this series. I just hope NOTHING gets blacked out or represented in a way that makes it less "steamy".

Since I view anime and original source as separate I don't care what was throw or redone as long it feels rigth. Since I don't read novels it's ll new to me. My only expectations are:

1) Not over the top phylosocial, draggy dialogues.
2) Not too experimental (wonder if there will be Madoka references?)
3) Hope new cast won't mess up. My concern goes to Iguchi and Maya - Kamiya gives me too much Arakawa vibes.

Well as long there will be some Mayoi and Kanbaru it can't be bad.

The thing is that its Recruit who has Araragi vibe, not Araragi having Recruit vibe.... >_>

And I must say, that's good, because Recruit needs more of funny harmless evilness for being as much likeable as Araragi. So even the slightest vibe is good.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

It's not like I hate Recruit or something. Just that I don't like him as much as other characters of Kamiya. And no, I'm not an Izaya fan (It's funny, but even if I really enjoy him a lot as Araragi, I like Kamiya the most in his "nice young man" roles, like in Natsume Yuujinchou).

Oh how sweet and inocent you seem to be. No over the top "philosocial", draggy dialogues from Nisio? Not to experimental from Shaft and Shinbo? Oh you're in for a treat indeed.

Gosh! I really enjoy explain myself again and again.

1) What i ment is certain shows suffer from long dialogs the reason why i dropped C3 and Majikoi. There was not much to read between the lines. Bake had plenty of jabs flying around but Nisio is in dangerzone it can change pretty quickly. Part of me always wished Bake would pumped on action part.

2) I personally don't want to see more than it had been real life bodies flying around, hands in cast, collage.

3) As for VA I guess my expectations are too high.

Geh it only will lead to overcriticism and disapointments.

But if you've already watched Bake, how can you expect Nise to be different in long dialogues? I don't think action is the strong point of the series.

Shaft knows way to escape from censorship. Such as, that gore scene we had from Araragi vs Rainy Devil.

lol... Nisemonogatari has like 2 times more of lengthened talking then Bakemonogatari. Thus, you will be disappointed, since monogatari series was NEVER AN ACTION ORIENTED ANIMATION. It was always DIALOGUE FOCUSED series. You are missing entire aspect of the strength that this series had.

Geez, it's SHAFT. They will keep exact same style from Bakemonogatari, and that is given thing. You are expecting very wrong thing from this sequel.

I mean, you are contradicting yourself. I'm not even sure if you watched Bakemonogatari, at least according to your 'overcriticism' and 'disapointments'.

Where did you hear that? Page-wise, IIRC Bake was 400/450 pages, while Nise should be around 300. Considering we have less episodes, the ratio time/dialogue shouldn't change much.

I thought Nisemonogatari is even more extreme in terms of getting off-the-road with dialogues. Nisio himself said he wrote it with 200% hobby attitude. That is something that Candyshark was mentioning, I think.

Dialogue is dialogue whatever the subject. Even Bakemonogatari was full of dialogue, in fact it was cut here and there to make it fit in the anime, not to mention the stillshots full of writing. Nise will probably be the same.
