Its based on a light novel thats published under the seinen(young men's) light novel label Fujimi Fantasia Bunko.
For now there are 6 volumes released of this light novel.

There's also a light novel that is a collection of short stories of BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS and its called BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS S - BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS collection of short stories (Ｂｌａｃｋ　ｂｌｏｏｄ　ｂｒｏｔｈｅｒｓ　Ｓ　ブラック・ブラッド・ブラザーズ短編集).

The short story light novel is serialized in the seinen(young men's) novel magazine Dragon Magazine, and published under the seinen(young men's) light novel label Fujimi Fantasia Bunko.

For now there are 2 volumes released of these short stories light novel.

There's also a manga thats called BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS which is a completely original story (meaning its not based on the light novels), and its serialized in the shounen manga magazine Dragon AGE.

Ah, no specific date announced yet, but its scheduled to be broadcasted this year (2006).

Ahh also, just in case:

Dragon Magazine is a seinen novel magazine (a novel magazine for young men).

The light novel label Fujimi Fantasia Bunko is a light novel label thats aimed at male audience, some sites are mentioning it as a seinen light novel label and others as a shounen light novel label.

In here I put the genre as seinen anime, but it wouldn't hurt if you called it a shounen anime since some sites are mentioning the Black Blood Brothers as shounen light novels.

Hi i saw a new series when i was in japan it was cald Black blood brothers and it was realy cool but i dont under stand japanese so i wounder if any Fansubers are working on this serie that woude be so cool

And the "Bro-ther, brother, etc" scene was just funny. As was all the abuse. I'll be following this.

I'm totaly going to hell for saying this, but I laughed during the Bro-Abuse, I suppose it was for the most part deserved on the smaller one's part.
Not quite sure about the 3rd or 4th time, but it was funny, Tom and Jerry Violence always inokes a chuckle from me.

Spoiler for Episode 1: The only thing unique about the vampire cliche is that the protagonist (Jirou) wields a blade, but other than that, I can't empathize with any of the characters, as their background information is hardly explained in the first episode. Therefore, I only get the impression that Jirou is a nutcase, and his kid brother Kotarou doesn't fare any better, being an extremely annoying existence. I'll give this show several episodes for the plot to develop before I hand out my veredict. It's a shame that Kamiya Hiroshi had to step down for the role of Jirou due to a car accident, not that his replacement Sakurai Takahiro is shabby by any standards. kari-no-sugata Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005	Spoiler for ep1: I can't say I particularly like Jiro's character design - that hat just doesn't work. Okay in the first scene though. Rather pales in comparison to Hellsing (for example), even the TV series. Maybe there's some potential there. But, I can't say I enjoyed the battle scenes. Either stupidly one-sided or strangely even. Okay if you like shouta-abuse I guess
