BACKGROUND

Antigone's story started about three or four generations ago, in 1947, when a
female midchildian mage, named Lea Cardellino, ran away from a fight that turned
out for the worse.
Tracked down and severely wounded, Lea has to resort to multiple interdimensional
portal spells to escape her foe. She ended up on Earth, in Greece, during the
post-WWII greek civil war, with almost no magical energy left, her linker core was
damaged by both the fight and the overuse of her spells, on the brink of death,
where there are little to no magic and no way to get back to her homeworld.
She was found along with her device, that reverted in its sealed form as a notebook,
by a royalist army grunt who assumed she was one of the victims of the war. Her
wounds were critical to the point she was left mute even after she recovered way
later. She has fallen in love witht the soldier that nursed her and married him
after the war was over, founding a small library business with him, keeping her
sealed device in a safe.

Generations later, Antigone was born, Lea, whose husband has died of old age, has
witnessed a magical potential in her great-granddaughter, but knowing that she would
pass away soon, she configured her device so it would activate when it would come
in contact with Antigone, and left a letter for her, hinting clues that would
lead her great granddaughter to a treasure. Lea then joined her husband, knowing
that her remaining power has passed on Antigone.

Since her childhood, Antigone was seen as a nice, friendly but sometimes odd girl who
has an interest in occultism, unusual for a girl of her young age, an interest that
was upkept by her familial environment.

She was ten when her mother gave her a letter written by her late great grandmother,
hinting her about a treasure she has to find by herself.

She did and unlike most of normal people would do in her situation, she found a lot
positive things and a source for happiness when Lea's device, she renamed Arcana
Antediluvia, bound itself to her.

As a mage, she learnt to send an astral copy of her person to become friend with
transdimensional entities she would call later in battles got caught in. This is
how she bound her linker core to various creatures, especially a warrior named
Arngrim who would be his main protector against her future troubles.

She used her powers to travel through the world, but also learning the languages she
needed. What she enjoyed the most were the visits of ruins belonging to lost
civilizations and encounters of people she managed to befriend with her friendly
personality.

It was during one of her trips she has found the other half of the sea dragon pearl
necklace. Informed by her device, she looked for the other half of the necklace,
fearing what would happen if it fall in ill-intended hands.

It was the beginning of her short-lived rivalry with Pranee that would draw the
intention of the TSAB, and its intervention.

After the TSAB got an explanation from the both girls regarding everything about
their past and how they got into contact with magic, it offered the both girls
to join them, so their skills would not be wasted.

Antigone accepted it as an opportunity for many wonderful encounters. Before to
leave Earth, she sent a letter to her family, only telling them she has found her
path in life and that they should not worry about her.

In Mid-Childia, she learnt a lot of things from Caro regarding the art of summoning
and support magic, while the enforcer department is trying to find out the truth
behind the origins of Antigone's device.

Now, she is in Kyoya Kibagami's crew, in charge of the paperwork, ship's archive and
scholar task, assisted by Sieraza.

POWER

Antigone's power lies in summoning and support magic, she tries her best to stay
behind the frontline, providing support to her partners, something quite troublesome
when both Kyoya and Pranee tends to rush head first, without much second thoughts.

DEFENSIVE ABILITIES

* Barrier Jacket: Antigone's barrier jacket appears to be like a witch's robe with a
cape. A look at her ID pic will give you the idea.

* Trojan Wall: Her staple autoguard spell. It won't take much from strong attacks tho.

* Silver Aegis: It appears as a shining white light shield that can take powerful
attacks, only from a given direction.

* Andromeda's Chains: Antigone's bind spell, it first appears as a transparent
golden magic bubble that encase the enemy while dozen of energy chains will shoot
around him/her from thin air, bounding the target.

* Deadalus' Escape: This is how Antigone break a binding spell. How long it will
take will depend on the spell's complexity.

* Medusa's Gaze: This set-up a trap around Antigone that will cast a blinding
light. Just like the description, it will blind the attacker for a few seconds.
It's a counter-attack spell that comes handy when Antigone is dealing with
rushers, and needs to buy some time.




OFFENSIVE ABILITIES


Antigone's offensive relies on her summons. She gained them through her astral
trips in various planes of the multiverses, often linked to Earth's collective
subconscious.

They goes as follow:

- Kelpie, The Water Stallion: Antigone summons a water horse that can carries
on and under water, even providing her the oxygen needed to survive underwater
and lessening the pressure a bit, it's down to 30 meters where she start to
feel the pressure.

- Pegasus, The Mistral Mare: Antigone summons a copy of the mythical horse.
This is her main mean to get airborne. Pegasus will carry her from point A
to the closest and safest place, the speed being limited by his own natural
speed.

- Stymphalian birds, the brass feathered pests: She summons a flock of a four
birds as big as big vultures. On her command, they can fly to the enemy,
harassing him with beak or talon attacks, or shooting with their brass feathers.
They can only stay in this reality for two minutes. Then they disappears, while
Antigone has to wait for a while until she can summon them again.

- Arngrin, the Bear-coat Berserker: Antigone calls the famous hero to assist
her. He fills the same role as Lutecia's Garyu. He is a powerful warrior that
can give Signum a run for her money if he is properly supported by his mistress.
He will stay in the material world until he wins the fight or is defeated.
Antigone cannot summon anything else when Arngrim is summoned. If Arngrim is
defeated, Antigone cannot call him for some time.

- The Golem: Its her most powerful summon and the one that hog the most resource.
It can compete with Caro's Voltaire and obey to the same restrictions as the
dragon. It appears as the stone statue version of wierd mix of king kong and
a roman gladiator.

- Antigone has other summons, but they are either more the utilitarian kind
or for the sake of entertainment.

TRIVIA

Antigone often get, unintentionally, bullied by Pranee over her birthplace. The
thai girl liking the movie 300 a lot, maybe even too much.

She is one to get embarassed by her large chest and often wears baggy clothes
or ample robes that could hide her assets. This could explain why she was not
harassed by Kyoya yet. Sadly, it has not gone unnoticed by Pranee, Shamal or
Hayate.

She loves Caro and Erio, trying to act for them like a good friend, the oneesan
kind.

She have a very positive view on things, bordering on naive.


INSPIRATIONS

- Take Akari Mizunashi from Aria series, pour her personality in a gothic girl
to twist an archetype loading with prejudices, add a spoonful of wiccan and
occultism nut, and a load of servants as summons. There you have her.

- Some may think that Antigone + Arngrim = Ilya + Berserker. It was not intended.

- Expect a lot of "Ahee" from her.

- She was the hardest to justify when it comes to how she gets her hands on a
device.

Also I feel that Koji got a bit too insubordinate and familiar with Chrono considering the rank difference between them. Chrono feels rather OOC in this chapter as well. He's usually rather by-the-book most of the time so him actually hitting Koji does not seem to compute.

After all, Crack doesn't turn into Khrack until it is cast in a storyline; if you'd like to intervene, this is the best time to do it!

"Grief, despair and a slow, painful death to those who bear the Golden Crest! Eh~Mwahaahahahahahaha!!!" It laughed in a crazed manner before warping away.

Chrono sighed, (Wishing to become stronger to protect everyone, if he pushes too far, he'll be consumed by it. Or even betray that wish.)
(But I'm sure he'll be fine, he has Maren on his side.) Fate smiled. (Even since the two started working together,they have both improved.)

At the infirmary, only the two of them were there, sitting on one of the beds.
Maren treated the small cut on Koji's lip.

Having settled down, Koji's right eye returned to its normal color.
"...Maren." He said, staring at the floor.
"Yes?"
"...Sorry you had to hear all that." He apologized.
"It's okay..." She paused, "Here, some ice." She gave him a small bag of ice.
"Thanks." He took it and put it next to his left cheek.

Maren sat by his side, staying silent for a while, but then spoke, "You're frustrated about it, aren't you?"
Koji remained quiet.
"You couldn't possibly know that the incident three years ago would affect you now." She said.
"Still..." He looked at his right hand, making a fist. "After hearing that...I was being spied on all this time...I feel like a rat in a laboratory."
"Koji-sama..." She looked at him.
"I...I even dragged you into this, Scaglietti knows about your past."

"It can't be helped..." She said.
"But, if the information leaks out..." Before Koji could finished he saw Maren shake her head.
"If it does, I will face it head on...because I'm no longer who I was back then, humans aren't the only ones who change, everything does." She smiled, "Don't worry about it, it's not your fault."
"Maren..."

Koji looked down at the floor and sighed, "Hearing you say that makes me feel like a coward..."
"Koji-sama?" She blinked.
"I'm afraid that Fate-senpai and the others find out about my ability...and that because of it, they'll fear me and distance themselves from me."
Maren held his free hand, "No..." She shook her head "That's impossible...I've only known them for a couple of months but I'm sure they wouldn't do such a thing."
"Maren..." He looked at her.
"I believe that you were meant to have this power, and use it for the good of others." She held his hand tighter.
"Koji-sama...believe in yourself, in your ideals and beliefs and in your way of life. Believe in those that you trust, believe in me...I will stay by your side and support your decisions." Maren smiled at him.
"I..." Koji hesitated.

Seeing her smile, Koji looked down at the floor and sighed, "I'm such an idiot..."
"Eh?" Maren blinked.
"I pretend to act tough and carry all of the burden, even if it's too much, I bear with it...that's the way I am, it's hard for me to change that."
Maren leaned onto him, "I am here for you...I have pledged eternity to you, and sworn to be your strength, so...I'll help you."
"M-Maren?" Koji said surprised as he was pushed down.

The small bag of ice fell on the floor, Koji wore a disoriented expression as Maren looked at him.
"Allow me to carry some of your burden..." She said soflty, blushing.
Koji looked at Maren, who was on top of him, only now he noticed how good an Enforcer's uniform looked on her, the black of the uniform contrasting with her crimson hair...just perfect.
"a-ano...Maren, we're on Chrono's ship...the infirmary even, someone might come in." He said.
"I don't mind if we're seen..." She replied, pressing her body against his. "This is the best way to make you forget about your problems for the time being."
"E-eh?" Koji started sweating.

But then, Maren simply rested her head on his left shoulder, closing her eyes, "Can we stay like this for a while?"
"Y-yeah...as long as you want." Koji sighed in relief as he understood, (Thank goodness, for a moment I thought she was...) He pushed the idea aside to avoid further stimulation.

The two stayed quiet for a while, enjoying the moment.

"Koji-sama, may I ask a personal question?" She spoke, still with her eyes shut.
"Sure." He said without hesitation.
"Have you...fallen in love before?" She asked, in a shy tone.
"A-ah..." He wasn't expecting that...
"Have you?"
"Well...back then, I don't know if I could call it love...I was still a kid." He smiled.
"How was it, that first love?"
"Like I said, I don't know if it was love...but still...it was a painful experience." He brought his right hand, touching the red bandana on his forehead.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked..." Maren apologized.
"No, it's okay...I'll tell you."

It happened when I was about 5 years old...heh, when I think about it, life was so simple back then.
I often went to a park near home where I played with other kids, and one day I met her...
She was sitting on a bench in the park, crying, I had never seen her around before.
She had long black hair, tied with a big ribbon at the end, like Fate-senpai does nowadays.

I approached her and asked "What's wrong?", she looked at me with her clear blue eyes and said that she got separated from her mother.
I helped her find her mother, we became friends, and started playing together since then.

It turned out that her health wasn't that good, and she got sick, I visited her everyday and played with her, when she couldn't play, we talked about all sorts of things.

The last time I talked to her, she said that she'd get well soon and then we'd play outside again, like we used to.

Chrono sighed, (Wishing to become stronger to protect everyone, if he pushes too far, he'll be consumed by it. Or even betray that wish.)
(But I'm sure he'll be fine, he has Maren on his side.) Fate smiled. (Even since the two started working together,they have both improved.)
(I hope you're right...reality can be cruel, it'd be best if he learns that things don't go the way he wants them to.)

At the infirmary, only the two of them were there, sitting on one of the beds.
Maren treated the small cut on Koji's lip.

Having settled down, Koji's right eye returned to its normal color.
"...Maren." He said, staring at the floor.
"Yes?"
"...Sorry you had to hear all that." He apologized.
"It's okay..." She paused, "Here, some ice." She gave him a small bag of ice.
"Thanks." He took it and put it next to his left cheek.

Maren sat by his side, staying silent for a while, but then spoke, "Koji-sama, please don't blame yourself on what has happened."
Koji remained quiet.
"That incident was three years ago, how could you know that it would affect you now." She said, trying to cheer him up.
"Still..." He looked at his right hand, making a fist. "If only I..."

Maren grabbed his hand, and shook her head, "It's not your fault. The past events led to this situation, it may have all been planned or it was even a sudden whim of fate...but it happened, it can't be undone anymore."
"But I...unintentionally entered people's heart and-" But he was interrupted.
"That may be true, but think of the good things you did with it."
"...I helped people with their problems, cheered them up."

"And opened their eyes, saving them from their own guilt..." Maren held his free hand, and looked at him.
"Maren..." He looked at her.
"I believe that you were meant to have this power, and use it for the good of others." She held his hand tighter.
"I..." Koji hesitated.

The small bag of ice fell on the floor, Koji wore a disoriented expression as Maren looked at him.
"Allow me to carry some of your burden..." She said soflty, blushing.
Koji looked at Maren, who was on top of him, only now he noticed how good an Enforcer's uniform look on her, the black of the uniform contrasting with her crimson hair...just perfect.
"a-ano...Maren, we're on Chrono's ship...the infirmary even, someone might come in." He said.
"I don't mind if we're seen..." She replied, pressing her body against his.
"E-eh?" Koji started sweating.

But then...Maren simply rested her head on his left shoulder, closing her eyes, "Can we stay like this for a while?"
"Y-yeah, as long as you want." Koji sighed in relief as he understood, (Thank goodness, for a moment I thought she was...) He pushed the idea aside to avoid further stimulation.

The two stayed quiet for a while, enjoying the moment.

"Koji-sama, may I ask a personal question?" She spoke, still with her eyes shut.
"Sure." He said without hesitation.
"Have you...fallen in love before?" She asked, in a shy tone.
"A-ah..." He wasn't expecting that...
"Have you?"
"Well...back then, I don't know if I could call it love...I was still a kid." He smiled.
"How was it, that first love?"
"Like I said, I don't know if it was love...but still...it was a painful experience." He brought his right hand, touching the red bandana on his forehead.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked..." Maren apologized.
"No, it's okay...I'll tell you."

It happened when I was about 5 years old...heh, when I think about it, life was so simple back then.
I often went to a park near home where I played with other kids, and one day I met her...
She was sitting on a bench in the park, crying, I had never seen her around before.
She had long black hair, tied with a big ribbon at the end, like Fate-senpai does nowadays.

I approached her and asked "What's wrong?", she looked at me with her clear blue eyes and said that she got separated from her mother.
I helped her find her mother, we became friends, and started playing together since then.
She was cheerful, kind and a bit of a crybaby, but it was fun to be with her. During that time, we went everywhere together...but...it didn't last long...

It turned out that her health wasn't that good, and she got sick, I visited her everyday and played with her, when she couldn't play, we talked about all sorts of things.
Then, one day, when I was visiting her, she started coughing...it was the first I saw so much blood.
She was taken to the hospital...and I went with her.

The last time I talked to her, she said that she'd get well soon and then we'd play outside again, like we used to.
She asked me to hold onto the ribbon she used to tie her hair until she got better, it was a promise...

But, that promise was never fulfilled...she died a few days later.
I got the feeling she knew she wasn't going to make it, and since then, I started using her ribbon on my forehead.

"The feeling of losing someone important, I don't want it experience it again." I said to myself.
So I chose to become stronger, it was when it started...

"Koji-sama...I'm sorry." She looked at him with teary eyes.
Koji smiled at her, "It's okay, Maren, it happened a long time ago." He ran his fingers through her hair.
"So...that girl was your first love?" She asked.
"Who knows...I'm not really sure." He sighed.
"It must have been." She assured him. "The way you spoke about her, she must have been really important to you."
"Yeah..." He closed his eyes, smiling.

After being quiet, Koji opened is eyes and spoke.
"Then there was that time, after I met Signum-san, Hayate-senpai and everyone else."
"Eh?" Maren blinked.
"That one was more of a crush...but I got rejected the moment I confessed." Koji blushed as he tittered.

"An infatuation?" Maren said. "Oh, you must mean Suzuka-san, right?"
"Geh? H-How do you know?" Koji looked at her surprised.
"Hayate-san showed me an album filled with picutes. And she told me about the time when you were attached to Suzuka-san."
"A-ahh..." He sweatdropped, (Hayate-senpai...I just hope you didn't distort the facts...)

"Hayate-san said that you used to ask Suzuka-san for swimming lessons."
(Well...that is true.)
"And when you clinged to close to Suzuka-san, Arisa-san would try to separate you."
(Also true...Arisa-senpai is very protective of Suzuka-senpai when I'm around...and those glares she throws at me.) He sweatdropped.
"And that you once took a bath together..." She said.
"N-Not true!" He said out loud, blushing wildly.
"Is that so...?" Maren blinked, "The way Hayate-san told it, it sounded true...during a trip to the hot springs."
(H-Hayate-senpai...why did you told her that? It was an accident! And it only lasted like 50 seconds before I got slugged by Arisa-senpai.)

"Still, people of Earth are amazing...even without magic power, Suzuka-san was on par with Fate-san in physical activities." She rememebered.
"Yes, Suzuka-senpai is quite an athlete." He nodded.

Thinking for a short while, Maren spoke, "Koji-sama..."
"Yes?"
"Do you...like women with long hair?" Maren curiously asked.
"E-Eh?" He blinked. "W-What makes you think that?"
"Well..." Maren thought, (That girl had long hair, Suzuka-san has long hair, Signum-san has long hair, Rein has long hair, Cinque-san has long hair...)

(F-for some reason, I get the feeling Maren is comparing the people I know and sorting them...) He sweatdropped.
"Should I let my hair grow longer?" She asked him.
"E-eh??" Koji imagined her with longer hair...and turned red, he shook the idea away. "M-Maren...just be yourself, you don't need to change to please me, I like you the way you are." He replied.
Maren's smile widened from those words, "Koji-sama!" She hugged him.
Koji held her back, "Maren..." He said softly.
"Koji-sama..." She looked into his eyes.
"Maren..."
"Koji-sama..."

They moved their faces closer and closer until...
"STOP RIGHT THERE!!!" Yui and Rein shouted as then came in.
"WAH!?" The young couple is startled.
"As Rein thought desu~" Rein floated next to Yui, with her hands resting on her waist.
"We can't even leave you two alone for 5 minutes that you get all love-love" Yui pouted.
"True desu~" Rein nodded.

"W-well...the events sorta developed this way..." Koji sweatdropped.
"Is that so?" Yui raisen an eyebrow, "Then..." She smirked, "I want to snuggle up to Onii-chan too~" And jumped them.
"Ah, Yui-chan, wait for me desu~" Rein joined her.

"PUAH!" Koji let out as Yui landed on him.
Maren held on to Koji while Yui intruded in their 'alone time', Rein snuggled inbetween them.
"m-minna...you're all a bit-eh?" Before he could finish, three pairs of eyes locked on him.
"We are a bit what, Onii-chan?" Yui glared at him menacingly.
"N-nothing...nevermind." He looked away, (Girls sure don't like to be called heavy, do they?) He sweatdropped.

"But...it's good to see Onii-chan went back to his normal self." Yui commented.
"Agreed desu~" Rein added.

Koji was forced to stay in that combination of comfortable and uncomfortable until the Claudia reached its destination.

I'm thinking of making an inbetween chapter (aka Chapter 23a) focused on Zafira, as in "A day in the RF6", maybe even from Zafira's point of view.
To, you know, unshaft the Shafted One for a while

After that, work on the following chapter, "Second Date", that takes place a week or so after this chapter, jumping back into Maren's Route.
And with this chapter, Maren's older sister, Scarlet is finally introduced

Uhm... What was this supposed to clean anyway? I see no changes.

Relic 11 is still Relic 11 for story purposes (I.E. Koji is still convinced it is Relic 11, hence nothing changes) he is still harem master Koji, his powers remain the same, no changes in Treize... In fact, now that he has yet another dramatic past, things are only going more downhill for Koji.

I loved Koji when he was the random TSAB clerk who had a good score with Maren (whatever happened to the calm, emotionless Maren anyway?). Now he turned into some cliche shounen Mary Sue with multiple dark pasts, inexplicable and sudden connections to castmembers, a harem and powers to expand that harem.

And did I spot Arisa/Suzuka in there? Or was that simply Arisa spotting that Koji is a baaad choice in boyfriend?

Relic 11 is still Relic 11 for story purposes (I.E. Koji is still convinced it is Relic 11, hence nothing changes) he is still harem master Koji, his powers remain the same, no changes in Treize... In fact, now that he has yet another dramatic past, things are only going more downhill for Koji.

On the subject of harem: Like I explained, harem doesn't necissarily mean Koji loves them, as long as they love Koji, they're part of the harem. It's part of the shounen system. I never really commented on them untill recently because I thought it would quiet down when Koji and Maren got serious several chapters back, and Rein would move on (Can't really comment on Yui because... well... different type of relation) instead, he only got more girls interested in him.

On the subject of Treize DNA: My apolagies, I must have missed that.

On the subject of dramatic past: There is nothing wrong with them at all, I mean, just look at Keroko's profile. Drama? I'd say so. I don't mind Koji having a dramatic past, not at all, but he's getting more of them. First there was the experiment thing, his powers, then Jail's involvement, and now the hospital girl? Don't you think that's a bit... much?

On the subject of Maren: Personal opinion. Sorry, should have been more clear on that.

Oh, and one thing I should make clear. I'm not doing this because I dislike Koji, not at all. I like Koji, I just don't like the way his development is going. Guess you could say I'm actually protective of Koji. Kinda like when Tk kicked my rear back during my 'lolz! Keroko is Vivio's prototype!' days.

However, considering that one of the numbers, I’ve forgotten who now, said that the blast that…again one of the numbers fired at the helicopter wouldn’t have killed Vivio. She would’ve survived the blast unscathed. At least from my understanding of it.

Indeed. I had actually originally planned on having the jam actually destroy the thing internally which would result in him getting Gundober sooner, but I thought better on it and have decided to withhold it for now
