Fun ep and a good lead-in to what looks to be the main plot here, and a much nicer one than the other Nanoha series:
Spoiler:
Got to see the breaker pretty quick, and just as destructive as I expected. It just isn't a Nanoha series without seeing at least one blast capable of turning a fair-size city into a mile-deep crater. A little surprised Nanoha used Blaster though. I guess they adjusted Blaster mode so it doesn't injure its user anymore. Of course, I'm only a little surprised by this; it's not exactly the first time a "dangerous" technique known for its potential to harm the user was used for a season only to later become a completely safe device and standard equipment. On one last note, I loved the part where they showed the girls following the battles. Somehow, their crying with exhaustion and overexertion was just adorable. Something about the looks in their eyes made me think they resembled scolded kittens. |

All Unison devices can adjust their size. Just that larger body consumes much more energy so theн prefer fairy-sized one than on duty.

This is like the relaxing Nanoha, low stakes version, and it's very fun to watch. |

Mm, I'm satisfied with the overall result and performance of the fighters of the battle. I think the previous episode carried most of it and delivered but this one was neat too.
Hyped to see the upcoming tournaments with a lot of potential candidates to win.

Goliath's Broken Magnum ROCKET PUNCH looked less epic in the anime than in the manga for some reason, but damn if Corona calling out the attack wasn't adorably awesome

After rewatching, I was reminded of one or two other semi-serious fights I've seen before. Battle keeps getting bigger and bigger, until the two fighters launch attacks that make many nukes feel inadequate, but it ends with a simple fist-fight after all the big power's been exhausted. Bonus for Vivio knocking Einhart out only to be taken out by an accidental unconscious flying foot (wouldn't even call it a kick since Einhart was out cold and her foot was just following standard physics at the time).
One thing I wondered though was why that was the end of it. Subaru still has 60 and Corona has 30 HP left. Why are they not allowed to try and win it for their side? Corona certainly looked like she couldn't move and finish it, but Subaru looked like she at least had enough strength for one last punch. Is there some sort of rule that says anything under 100 is considered absolute immobilization? On another note, a thought struck me when I heard Corona can make golems in DSAA matches, and considering the golem's size: "All right, I'm going to CRUSH that little r--- wait, where's the ring... wait, WHAT IS THAT THING!!!????" Caro shoots him for unfaithfulness and straying eyes. Speaking of which, Nanoha should have a spinoff of Erio Mondial, as a Shounen protagonist finding himself stuck in the Action-Harem Fantasy (IS, DAL, Blade Dance, Trinity Seven, etc) genre and scenario.
I am hyped for Eremiah Siglinde, a walking concentration of awesome in a teenage package. My main criticism of this episode however, is that the Inter-mid tournament structure wasn't as clearly explained as the anime format could have potentially afforded. I understand that there are preliminary qualification rounds, but the difference between the Novice and Elite Classes, and subsequent rounds after the Prelims wasn't made clear. Also, it wasn't made clear whether earlier stages are instant elimination knock outs or group stages. So, when the group was asking Nove about how far they likely could end up going in the tournament, the answer suffered from the lack of sufficient exposition about the tournament mechanics, to give that answer meaning.
