There is showing different sides of the same character, and there is replacing the character with a different but similar one for the purposes of a joke. The first is fine, and is what happens in Vivid. But the second is the case in Vivid Life. Now we can either treat all of this as having happened in one continuity, and that the charcters are simply schizophrenic and change depending on what kind of "camera" is watching them or we can treat content that uses these altered (not those that simply show another side of their character) characters as taking part in a AU 0,5 universes off from the main one.
Anyway I'm unilaterally dropping this in future because I have abused this thread with this enough. |

Considering that movie will deal with Amitie and Kyrie from Gears of Destiny games and that many people might not have played them (because they don't know Japanese, don't own the game or PSP or donl't like this genre of games), I'm among them, it would be nice if there is some way to find out what ws the story behind Gears of Destiny and Amitie and Kyrie's involvement in it.
Well for your enjoyment I trawled the old GOD thread and found that one user there did a synopsis of every stage of the game. For a game there is quite a bit of story coming with it so without further ado he following is a synopsis of the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's PSP game Gears of Destiny: Sequence 1 - https://forums.animesuki.com/showthr...60#post3919060 Sequence 2&3 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1191 Sequence 4 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1211 Sequence 5 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1215 Sequence 6 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1288 Sequence 7 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1306 Sequence 8: Part 1 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1414 Sequence 8: Part 2 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1448 Sequence 9 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1450 Sequence 10 - http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...postcount=1524 Sequence 11: Part 1 - https://forums.animesuki.com/showthr...32#post3938232 Sequence 11: Part 2 - https://forums.animesuki.com/showthr...29#post3939729 Sequence X (epilogue) - https://forums.animesuki.com/showthr...66#post3944666 Also on youtube the following sequences or parts of them have been subbed in English: Sequence 1 - only the introductory part Sequence 9 in it's entirety Gears of Destiny subtitled version - an ongoing effort Even what little is available in English, if the character don't change, should give you an idea of the new characters. Basically Amitie behaves as if she has been transplanted from Guren Lagan (everything is about fighting spirit) while her sister and probable antagonist is a smug edge lord. In the game they mention that there are other Gears of less than human variety so that might be where the mecha/robot army is coming. The conflict in GOD largely stemmed from the fact that Kyrie wanted to get her hands on the crystal Examia that was part of the defense system of the Book of Darkness (there is more on that in the synopses) and Materials in the end played a big role on avoiding it's complete activation. In the movie it's possible that they'll keep the crystal as a point of contention between the protagonists and the antagonists and ditch all the rest of the lore about Unbreakable Dark and Materials. Okay, Kyrie and Amita, they are not uprising. The motherly figure might be since in GoD they weren't human, but she might not be their mother. But who is the younger girl with Kyrie? I don't think it's Yuri, she is a blonde.

Thez shouldn't exist since Reinforce was sealed. So without the Darkness of the Book of Darkness rising again and making them in the image of the girs who defeated it, they don't exist.
@JINNSK I'm sure you meant "friend" given their chest ot chest scene in the PV. |

Despite its popularity, I am someone who has yet to see or get into any Nanoha stuff.
So my question to those fans who are deep into it already: Are the movies a good/decent gate way & "shortcut" to get into the series as a whole? No major missable interesting plot or characterizations so far & stuff like that?

Well Movie 1st is since it leaves out some of the early installation weirdness, but it also drops due to the time constraints some of the character building between the leads. So as an intro it probably is not bad, as long as you do see the first season at some point. Second season on the other hand was pretty tightly paced and is arguably the pinnacle of the show. It's movie therefore does not live up to the expectation IMO.
They never made the moves for any of the seasons after that, and this one is a thing of it's own. So my recommendation would be go for the Movie 1st to give you a taste for Nanoha (only understand that there is more character stuff and plot in TV show) and then go for the A's TV season. There is really no reason tu hurry since the things after StrikerS (and to some after A's) are not as good as the stuff that came before. |

I personally think that Movie 1st is way better than the series. They cut most of unnecessary SoL parts but added so needed characterisation for Fate and Precia and it has better quality overall, so I personaly have similar opinion as 4th Dimension: watch the movie first and S1 later when you have time. I know a lot of people who watched S1, disliked it and dropped the franchise.

I think you should probably watch the series first because while the movie is so much be it does get confusing if you haven't watched the anime itself, either you watch the anime first then the movie or you watch the first movie to get yourself into the series and watch the anime to understand more

Can't believe I missed this PV through my ME:A romp
Somehow, this PV seems kinda lacking in comparison to the previews for the 1st and 2nd movies, though at least we know what to expect now. Also, is that Nanoha's Fortress Mode from Force in action there?
