If he can't beat the crap out of her, then my interests in her is zero. Hilda is pretty good for the comedy and wrong perceptions.

Most people don't like future events being spoiled, so i was looking out for them.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean in the context of my post. I'm saying the OVA skipped their actual fight.

Also, it's not like Hilda is competing with her. You can take both. They're different characters with different personalities and with different roles. It's like saying that Hilda isn't as funny as Furinchi, so I have no interest in her. That just doesn't make sense. They make each other funnier by their interactions.

Thanks for pointing it out, although I already saw it. Usually, I don't like spoilers, but it felt more like an introductory episode. It did not spoil any plotline.

AH HAHAHAHAHAHA

AH HAHAHAHAHAHA

That about sums up what I thought of ep 2, other than the overuse of the zapping, plenty of laughs to be had and lovely Hilda-chan!

Ah Furuchi, your mind is always on the important stuff

Although I do not know what events will come, I do hope that they minimize the very common tournament theme that is so prevalent in many shounen stories (Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragonball and Dragonball Z, Tenjou Tenge, History's Strongest Disciple, Air Gear, Ikki Tousen, etc.). It is overused and would be refreshing to show something different. Naruto managed to limit itself to one tournament, which is good. Bleach avoided altogether, and One Piece avoided that format as well.
what Bleach did had to be worse than any tournament battle manga I've read. the skills and battle twists were boring...

All I am saying is that it would be refreshing if Beelzebub refrained from using such an overused theme. As for Bleach, opinions will vary depending on if you are a fan or not, and I will leave it at that.

Don't worry, Beelzebub is quite original. Actually it often parodies and makes fun of cliches.

Parodying cliches does not make something original. It makes it self-aware, but even the most self-aware stuff can use the same cliches that it parodies. Heck, it's more likely to use them because it knows it can get away with it by turning it into a joke. Even if the joke lasts one panel while the cliche lasts the rest of the series.

I don't think Beelzebub is terrible or anything, but it doesn't get a free pass just by sometimes parodying things.

I said "it's original and it parodies", not "it's original because it parodies".
Let me make it clear: Beelzebub itself doesn't have cliches (or at least too few to be noticeable).

I don't really understand what makes it original? demon theme? delinquent theme? gags? care to elaborate a little? it's still just a mainstream battle manga, but people who like battle manga/anime will still find enjoyment since it is slightly better than average due to the gags, even if it's only slightly (purely my opinion). though the story did improve after Ishiyama arc, with more interesting hooks. that said, for the relatively new serializations that are being made into anime, I'm looking forward to Toriko. the theme is not entirely original but like one piece, the world setting is and pretty interesting. and a couple years down the road, Enigma

LOL... watched the OVA, and yea, it's basically a summary of the manga (also acts like the summary of the anime too)

Tho... the OVA have some funnier scenes than the anime... donno why, but I kinda liked the OVA better than the anime...

The original - baby demon king? (I haven't seen any other manga or anime with a baby demon king as one of the main character... at the very least, all I know is baby "delinquent"... but not a demon king)

that might be the case; well it at least has to have that much or it'd have been cancelled early, but I don't personally feel it's at the wow-level yet. then again, i believed what allowed it to make it through were the gags. now with the demon stuff being more frequently used as plot devices, and a loli, and the still decent gags, it's getting better, but not yet stupendous. just my personal opinion though

That is great to hear. I will be looking forward to this.

I have been thinking about the current Demon King. He seems quite out there, as if a little missing in the head. I wonder if he had a similar situation compared with the current baby Demon Prince, except the person that raised him was little off-beat as well? He did not seem hell-bent on destroying the world or anything like that.

For the cliche part, imo, there are quite some moments, but not as many as others of course. It's a shounen manga after all, but I guarantee the comedy in this series is just good.

The only thing I know is that the demon king's a hard-core gamer, understandable, I'd rather play games than wasting my time destroying the world. :P

Err, no "power of belief", "power of friendship", "protect the world", "help everyone", ...
It's quite original by shounen standard, but don't expect it to be deep and thought provoking.

And the thing that is entirely original doesn't exist

I was just about ready to drop this halfway through ep1 and then Hilda showed up. Honestly without her and Furuichi the humour would have been pretty hard to enjoy. The zappings got old even before episode 1 ended though, so I really hope there will be less and less of that.
