From last episode this episode most likely will be about Nia's cooking and fight with the peacock guy. I expect some linear development this time, shouldn't have something major. The biggest one they can pull would probably be the dead of the general.

I really hope I am wrong.

it would be too quick imo...let him live for at least 2 more eps and i'll be happy but it is certain that simon is going to kick some ass again...the only question is how he goes about doing it :3

Episode 13 Screencaps and Summary

Lots more fighting this week with a surprising (for me at least) focus on both Yoko and Viral. Nia actually took a small side role this week. The episode ends on the Helix King questioning if Viral truly wants to know the answer to what humans are, so I think it's safe to assume Viral will be around for a while yet.

As for when the new OP would air, if there is a new one, it'll very likely wait until episode 17 - July 22nd - which is when the new Afromania ED is set to start (and supposedly also the start of the next arc).

Anyway, this episode was top-notch once again. Impressive pace and direction, coupled with incredible animation. Probably one of the most exciting and interesting episodes yet. The ending with Viral was a cruel cliff-hanger.

Alright, fantastic episode. Now I'm Pro-Pro-Nia and Pro-Yoko. And Simon is DA MAN.

Nia is so cute in this episode. Although there's more Yoko this time round, but now this ep made me like Yoko. Now it's a fight between Nia and Yoko on who shall get more screentime. Good times ahead I foresee. Still doesn't remove that nagging feeling that one of them will die...
And Simon is da Man! No wonder he's perfect for Nia.

Watched some scenes in the High-Res version... I take back what I said. The animation this time was beyond INCREDIBLE and the storyboard and scene composition were just perfect. A+ on the visuals alone.

Its actually a lot better than I have expected. The best part is actually the last part where Viral talk to the Spiral King.

ok some points:

- Simon is really becomes a tropical hero this episode, kinda boring..... I prefer Kamina because he do stuffs without thinking and spousing bs everytime he says something

- This episode is VERY action based, the animation is top-nutch, very smooth movement and high quarlity as well. Viral vs Simon part is superb.

- Viral reminds me a lot of Vegita from Dbz. He refuse to finish Simon off in a coward way.

- Yoko is a lot more likeable this episode. She is trying to act like a big sister to Simon at the start, but by the end she notice that he is not a kid anymore. There is a vipe moment where both Simon and Yoko need to overcomes Kamina's death too.

- Another good thing about action in this episode is its not Simon's solo. Last episode sucks because they win because of Simon and Simon alone. This time, Dai-gurren plays alot in battle too. The 3 sisters at last got some actions.

- Nia's cooking sucks is kinda lame (I expected this since I heard the episode name). Simon seems to like it though... Not sure if that meant to reenforce Simon x Nia to fight against yoko x Simon's vipe that this episode is giving. In any case, Nia can't seems to find her job yet, booo come on turn Buster Machine and kick ass already.

Those are the obvious parts, next is the speculation.

- Kamina's fighting ability is still above Simon. Kamina match Viral equally with Gurren and able to defeat him using Gurren Lagann. Simon still struggle with the fight even with Gurren Lagann...

- Viral asked the king, "What is a human, really!?". It is the same question that was asked by Nia just before she is abadoned. Could that be the very reason why she was abadoned? It is the question that she asked, not that she has conciousness.

- Spiral King was able to project a drill out of his hand. Could it be that he was the one who created the drill in the first place? And also the human in the planet to serve him in some perpose?


NEXT EPISODE:
well, from Nia's preview its probably going to be all action episode. (summary of next episode is up on my blog btw.) So if Nia aren't going to turn Buster Machine soon, it might mean that she gonna have to sit out again?

Simon is boring because he doesn't sprout bs like Kamina? Dude, Simon isn't there yet. *rolleyes* The last thing we need is a reckless hero who dies fast. There is the reckless Gar and the coolheaded Gar. Kamina's Gar is just plain recklessness, Adult Simon's Gar is Gar that can command people to victory. Ok, I admit I just don't like Kamina.

I agree Yoko is good in this episode, now I place her below Nia.

Simon's fighting ability loses to Kamina?? I think many people still seem to think that in the first eight episodes, it is Kamina who saves the day singlehandedly. It is true that Kamina's Gar-ness helped, but in the end it was Simon whose awakening emotions that drives the Gurren-Lagaan. Without Lagaan, I doubt Kamina can do much against Viral. Simon can drive Gurren-Lagaan singlehandedly but can Kamina? Only when he's dying AND Simon is in the cockpit.

I'm no Simon fanboy. And I really didn't care for him in the first 10 episodes, but that's what I gather from watching them.

Well, Kamina held up against Viral in Gurren itself, but Enikido has been getting more powerful lately as Viral's "fighting spirit" is increasing a lot. Just see how he stopped Dai-Gurren's giant feet in episode 10.

Simply marvelous. I was thinking to myself, "Will I still enjoy GL?" since over the past week I watched GaoGaiGar and now I'm nearly halfway through FINAL. Suffice to say, I wasn't as impressed as last week (maybe because I had ready subs and a fine RAW...) but this week was still awesome, if only for one big reason: VIRAL.

Seriously, I was drawing Shishio Guy parallels even BEFORE watching GGG, now I find myself cheering for the guy and this episode wins hard just for his decision to back down. God dang, I know I'm emulating Zimmer here but Viral will be a hero before this arc ends...I guarantee it.

Oh yeah...the wings were a win too. And they're still present in the preview! Nice.

you know...while watching this ep i swear i could see about 10 ways in which yoko could have been killed off...im glad it didnt happen though as it will be one hell of a shocker (but at the same time i thought she should have been more injured )

a turning point for both yoko and viral? it seems so...the way yoko is now looking a simon i can see a potential love triangle forming (but nia is at a stronger position for that really...)

viral still has his honor which is an amazing thing to see ~ he questions the existance of these "humans" who has beaten him time and time again...i wonder if the "switching sides" theory still holds true...i can see viral taking on a general for the sake of honor and also for himself to beat gurren lagann fair and square...

nia's cooking...i will happily eat it like simon! ^.^ (even if it ends up killing me...)

Yoko looking into the Gurren cockpit, and seeing the Gurren Bridge symbol. The slow camera move to Simon's face --- genius. I couldn't help but let out a few tears here.

Rewatch Anon, the episode was great with the correct dialogs. Anyway, someone wants to speculate on the final conversation in this episode? It gave great vibes towards the fact that my speculation may indeed be correct.
