Little over an hour.
I could have done the meat in half an hour like the show, but I didn't want to artificially recreate the situation by putting new meat in at 30min, nor was it realistic for the sauce to finish in that short minutes.

I think even if I had put the beef in at 30min to go, it would have come out tender and nice though.

Well, considering the elite 10 aren't the same age as Erina (since Erina is supposedly the youngest ever member), I don't think I have to worry about Erina being in a cooking contest against any of them. Again, it seems like the point of the school is to pit the students against each other since it only has ~10% passing rate (from 800 students first year to around 80 second year IIRC), so it only makes sense that 'serious cooking competitions' are only limited to within their own grade. And in that sense, yes, Erina is current #1 because she got valedictorian after all.

Also from an in-universe perspective I think many people would think that her being in elite 10 could be to a certain extent due to her grandfather's influence. Not saying that is true (I think it would be out of character for the grandfather to actually do that, at least in the sense of abusing his authority to rise her position, that does not include others who try to suck up to him by giving Erina preferential treatment), but just the rumors would make a lot of people unable to really recognize her as the true #1 of the school.

Quite true, she might have taken the position of Elite 10 just due to grandpa's influence. But then again, she is already famous, earning the nickname 'God Tongue' (even earning an urban legend already XD), so I think she earned that spot through merit rather than connections.

There is so called seat number inside the elite 10, basically means the strongest will be seat number 1, slowly the weaker one will counted towards number 10.

A bit late watching the latest episode (it's finding time to watch it alone with the food hentei likes scenes being too embarrassing to watch with family in the room) but t was a good one.

It seems Megumi a deliberate mirror to Erina in character, while Erina is way too confident, Megumi has too little. It be interesting to see how things develop over the story.

Does anyone else here be bothered with that kind of taste?

In this case Erina's sense of taste is special.
As for her grandfather, it is because of his decision that Soma was accepted.
I actually like the part, how he squashes the paper with failed mark on it.

To me, Erina's sense of taste is just her personal taste.
Just seems unfair.

Soma was qualified. His food was tasty. Erina knew it but she lets her emotion get better on her and failed him because he doesn't treat her as a queen.

Her grandfather seems completely understand Erina character and that is why he went to check for himself and he was right on it. It is really pure luck on Soma's side.

But in this series, the foods are more vast, I think.
