It's platinum, they are a weird development studio that makes insanely awesome games that don't do well commercially but always find some way to get people to bank roll them for more. It's not like they ever stuck onto a single platform since the studio started.

They're arguably one of the few Japanese-based independent developers that fit the following criterias:

- console-focused
- capable of developing high-quality AAA-games
- have relatively broad universal appeal in their game-design
- are doing poorly enough that they're job-starved/willing to accept funding from platform holders to develop exclusive games

It just seems weird- I might be WAY off base here, but the fanbase for Wii U and Xbox 1 doesn't strike me as the type to like Platinum Games' games... For stereotypical generalization reasons *cough* >_>

It's Japan, what other viable platform is there other than console? PC is still a weird territory for them and mobile is still in the growing phase.

Without knowing Platinum Games' financial status, it's really hard to say how well they are actually doing but regardless of sales number, they continue to get contracts. I don't think there's that many independant development house out there in Japan in the first place.

Also, they are relatively a new studio who only started last generation though the core of the staff have been in the industry for awhile now. It would be kinda insulting to expect less from the people who made games like Okami, DmC and Viewtiful Joe.

Not really. Bayonetta 2 might be a poor fit for Wii U but we all know by now it's a Nintendo funded game and Nintendo sorely lacks a good 3rd party franchise in it's library for Wii U. Wonderful 101 fits perfectly in the family friendly image for Wii U granted Nintendo really slipped up in marketing it.

As for Xbox, there's tons of people who owned an 360 last gen, i don't think it's fair to just generalized Xbox user as just CoD/Madden/Gears gamer anymore.

What are you talking about, mobile has been king in Japan for the longest time.

DS and PSP outsold consoles in Japan.

And right now, 3DS is the undisputed ruler of gaming in Japan.

Mobile as in iOS and phone games. DS and PSP is generally known as handhelds. I know it's an arbitrary distinction but it is what most people define them as.

Something really funny on the whole 100$ off if you trade-in your 360/playstation3. Apparently their fine print says they only except what's essentially the newest of the new models of 360. But on the other hand, they have no issue accepting virtually any playstation3.

The hell is this?
