In Mahou Shoujo Site, IMHO, to me it seems that a male, Kaname in this case, taking hold or stealing magical girl powers is unheard of by the admins. Nevertheless, if boys acquire magical girl powers, they receive those powers but without transforming into both a magical girl and gender.
It brings up a good question - if guys and girls can equally use the sticks' powers, then why do the admins only focus on giving sticks to/harvesting lifeforce from girls (and transgenders)? You'd think they'd want to diversify their energy sources with guys as well.

Also, the white-haired girl in stasis has just been introduced in the latest manga chapter. So she's not entirely anime-original anymore.

New spinoff of MSS. Story is written by MSS's mangaka but art is by another person.
It focuses on these 2 female friends who get a stick, and then things unravel badly for them.

Sept can be read here in Japanese, but it's still an ongoing work.

Hmm... I think it is safe to say that we are in anime-original material. Never read the manga, but this smell...

We are still using manga material, but some parts of it have been altered.

Those finger shots remind me of Inuyashiki's Hiro Shishigami, doing the exact same thing.

Yuri saves the day.

I guess this show is alright.

Also is that choking on the beach supposed to be a EoE reference?

Mahou Shoujo Site. Final Thoughts

Some hours ago I concluded Mahou Shoujo Site, and when I picked it back three months ago I didn't have a clue on what I would be getting myself into.

One thing for sure, that I truly thank for never ever watched Madoka, since I did not need to compare it with the latter.

From the beginning, Mahou Shoujo Site did not hold out the trauma and frenzy with its quite brutal, visceral depiction of Aya's incessant bullying from her classmates to her brother. Everything was a rampage of misfortune she had to deal day after day while considering seriously to go along with suicide.

Probably, my best comparison or proportionally in reverse would be with Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku. I said in proportionally reverse due that in Mahou Shoujo Site introduces the MC as already broken with a wretched life while Magical Girl Raising project starts at introducing the MC as an innocent girl with a well upbringing and possessing an idealistic view on magical girls.

Throughout the journeys, trials, tragedies, and horrors that each MC has to deal in their respective shows they grow quite opposite, and by the end of their respective shows each of them reap different results.

Likely, I favor more Mahou Shoujo Site due to the Aya and Tsukuno pairing and that their situations not only were handled quite realistically, but also were a deviation from the so clichéd formula on magical girls MCs always leading cheerful lives.

All of these girls were forced magical sticks into them to become magical girls for a higher, shady authority with quite a sinister purpose behind, and by the end of the journey the anime laids out what exactly is the Tempest and what purpose serves.
Still, even if the girls were able to reap a happy ending of sorts, still, I feel it is only temporarily since the days towards the Tempest are still being counted down. Furthermore, they didn't cause as much damage as they thought....
Spoiler:

Really, it's hard for me to choose whether I will like to rewatch or not the show for Halloween season, since it has its gritty moments. Besides, I'm as well agreeing the anime serves more the purpose to advertise the manga rather than completely breaking free from it. From what I read and listened to, the last episode was original so as to encourage the audience to switch to the manga in order to learn what follows next with the story.

All in all, Mahou Shoujo Site works really well when the characters are thrown into those bat shit, insane shenanigans in order to break their way out with the most unexpected results.
Drama isn't lacking for this show as well as character relationships and growth to my satisfaction.
