Mitsuo Iso seems to be a very experienced animator but he's weirdly only ever directed one show (not counting episode directing) and that was over 10 years ago. Well I did like Dennou Coil so there is that.

More info:

The anime is set in 2045, where the Internet and AI are commonplace even in space, and centers on a group of children stranded in space after a large-scale accident occurs in a space station. By using narrowband, social networking, and a drone that they can manipulate through smartphones and low-intelligence AI, they overcome many crises.

If it's only going to be one, that's a pretty damn good one to pick.

Btw, am I nuts or is the boy in the promo image wearing a Uniqlo space suit?

So... Infinite Ryvius with modern technology? And perhaps without the social and mental breakdowns.

This could be really good or really bland, hopefully it's going to be the former.

Dennou Coil was good enough to be memorable even in the greatest anime year ever, so I have high hopes for the former.

- Product placement. It's everywhere.

After seeing Max Factory's logo on an AS in the recent FMP TV series, this isn't too odd (and given the premise mighteven be explained away in story).

Oh great, another anime where smartphones seem to be essential in the main plot. I guess this is the new gimmick in anime, way to lower the bar yet again japan.

Or just reflective of real life, where Japanese people (certainly teens but not just them by any means) are hopelessly tethered to their smartphones at virtually every waking moment. Why shouldn't anime portray things as they really are?

Or maybe just because there's a smartphone somewhere doesn't automatically mean that the show is bad. These sweeping generalizations aren't helping anyone and are more indicative of your ignorance more than anything else.

it seems that just as Berserk 2016 traumatized a lot of people with CG anime, that horrible anime that had the name smartphones in the title traumatized other people to any other anime that works with smartphones.

Notice that the trauma was so great that himself ignored the name of the director and writer involved, showing a clear difference with the other anime.

This is how people live now (never mind the future, when this series is set). Can you imagine Tsuki ga Kirei without smartphones?

Just like how a well known name attached to the project or "interesting" art style or animation doesn't mean it will be good.

I'm really struggling to see how the minor fact that they can use their smartphones to control their drone could possibly have an adverse effect on a storyline, but whatever...

Your point being? You have decided that just because both shows overlap in some minor detail that both of them will be bad while knowing next to nothing about one of them. If you really need a TLDR: Your dislike has no basis whatsoever.

Now that I don't find likely with such a premise. I'm expecting tons of drama and hopefully more than just love triangles. I remember enjoying ryvius so I hope this is good. And has a soundtrack as nice as ryvius too.

2 years without news and now they're telling us it will come out in two more years. Not worrisome at all.
