This thread absolutely fascinates, I'm writing my phd on the internet and how it shapes media. What you guys are doing is at the fore front of how our ways of communicating and making meaning are changing.
DidCart, what you did is amazing up until just a few years ago that wouldnt of been possible, you took videos recorded by strangers, who were playing different instruments spread out over a geographic area (its unlikely they know each other) then you mixed it into a song. This was only possible because of the collapse of cost of recording equipment such as camera's, microphones and the internet (think of it as a distribution network sort of like broadcast television or radio but far more flexable). Information production used to be extremely expensive and now its in the hands of a billion people, that wouldnt of been possible before because it would of cost too much money to make and you would of been sued for copyright infringement (if you didnt get clearance from the people who wrote the song). |
