Sounds like a plan. Do you want to test out the new rule?

Nah, that's okay; I need my account to post in other, less terrible threads.

And there's the Benghazi investigations yet. That ought to be fun.

We'll probably need a whole new thread for that issue if any real investigations actually get started.

Yet, for as much as you say you hate this thread, you keep coming back.

Anyway, has Florida officially been called yet, or do they still not care enough to finish counting?

There are I think three counties that are way too close and probably have some sort of law mandated recount going on in them. Two are for Obama and one is for Romney.

For what it's worth I think we may have seen the real Mitt Romney last night during his concession speech or at least the supposed moderate he was before the election cycle saw him move right then back again as it caused him to lose ground. Overall though I swear I just saw a party pawn somewhat relieved that the election was all over with and he can go back to his money and Bain Capital.

Overall I think this election basically sends the very clear message that the majority of America does not want far right politics and hate eating up time on capitol hill. If you are a far right demagogue you can either bleed out financially like Michele Bachmann who's days are number (12 to 1 outspending of her opponent) to just barely keep your seat in a friendly district or you can pack your bags and leave.

My dad said that it's probably for the best because Mitt Romney's too good a person for Washington D.C. and the dirty world of politics, that he's probably better off just enjoying his life and spending time with his grandkids. Since the world of politics is probably about halfway between 'high school' and 'the 9th Circle of Hell' when it comes to misery and being surrounded by worthless people, I have to agree with him.

Thankfully you will deign to provide us with your comments on this "shitty board" for another day.

It would be false coming from you, considering how much you've railed against both candidates (I think your words were, and I am paraphrasing, "Obama will give the US a quick death, and Romney will drag it out.") But, keep up your work. there's always tomorrow.

Truthfully, whatever is discovered, if anything, will never satisfy the conspiracy theorist that have already made the issue paramount to everything in their lives. Personally, I expect an investigation to reveal a tangential link between something and nothing, and that's about it...

Did anyone mention the redistricting in CA gave CA completely to the Democrats? They have a super majority now in the state legislature.

Also Prop 30 passed with an 8% lead, was surprised.

I believe there are still 15 Republican congressmen for California in the 113th Congress.

It's stuff like this that will make the GOP irrelevant if they don't figure their shit out. That and the fact they are pure corporatists instead of fiscal conservatives.

It still is mind boggling to me that someone with a plat form not too far removed from Ron Paul has not managed to sweep this nation in an election.

You're probably right.
I don't do Devil's advocate very well.
Xander kicked my butt awhile back when I tried to do the "Lelouch is alive" routine over on the Code Geass board. "Ye Walls of Text" were in effect for that discussion

You summed up my disdain for both candidates very nicely BTW.

I agree.
It probably is "much ado about nothing."

So much happened here since last night.

So, I'll try to catch up a few posts.

This is the exact opposite of what the GOP tries to do.

I can't take a political party seriously as "Christian" that on one hand dogmatically declares abortion a crime and mortal sin, yet at the same time openly advocates starting wars of aggression.

I can't take a political party seriously as "Christian" that openly advocates the use of torture.

I can't take a political party seriously as "Christian" that openly rejects the principle of welfare and helping the needy.

Hell, even the US Conference of American Catholic Bishops explicitly lamented that Ryan's plans were incompatible with Christian teachings.

Do you seriously believe that if Jesus were to be born into our modern times, he would find the GOP to be of his kind? I sure don't. How can you resolve all these contradictions?
This. I'm a Christian as well, and I also just can't support the GOP after everything they did and said.

In the 1930s, the US government used all the extra talent to improve the county's infrastructure. The conservatives call that "socialism" but their "solution" (lets give all the money to the ones who already have lots of money) did not produce any real job growth at all over the first decade of the 21st Century. It didn't work in the late 1920s either.
Damn right indeed. Earlier in this thread, I mentioned that what the last 5 Republican presidents did was to revert back into what Calvin Coolidge did before the Great Depression (). Meanwhile, it was that form of "socialism" that bailed the US out of the Great Depression, then put the US on a period of continuous growth for a very long time, an approach also embraced by Eisenhower and which was, believe it or not, a big help in building the idea of the American dream.

As mentioned earlier too, the GOP won't be near winning any presidential election unless they move back towards the center and get rid of everything giving the party a bad name (Tea Party, religious extremists, racists and other zealots). However, to expect such radical changes in the GOP... that's a long shot.

Also, I can't wait to see what the country will look like with Puerto Rico as the next State. I guess I'll see all kinds of ideas for a flag with 51 stars on it.
