That the studio doesn't have its directors on a short leash is a strength, even if the end result is flawed. Not all changes will be for the better, but I can't criticize a nod toward creativity/risk-taking (now individual teams should rightfully be criticized if they aim for mediocrity, but there are also strong efforts like Asatte no Houkou and kimikiss), as long as the properties are adequately respected.

Ultimately, the safe and boring strategy would be to force faithful adaptations from each team.

The lighting in the commercial doesn't look bad, but the background still doesn't look like standard J. C. Staff animation to me. Oh well. So long as they don't make many drastic changes and stick to the manga then all's right with the world. OP song sounds pretty good as well.

I have a different opinion after hearing the whole song. I like the song now. I do not know why, maybe that CM was the wrong part of the song. But I am looking forward to the op animation as well, oh yea, I really like women bassist...

First episode was pretty good! I've not read the manga before, but I loved the visual style - very reminiscent of Loveless in its use of colours and digital effects (and character designs?). Some great fighting animation as well, much more impressive than I was expecting. Interesting characters, too.

It's not the most wonderfully amazing show to walk the planet or anything, but it's definitely one of the better Spring '08 shows to air so far. Looking forward to the next episode.

I'm just glad to see the characters animated. I can't take my eyes off the OP or the ED when I'm listening to them. It's so damn good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the only show J.C Staff are doing this season yeah? (as opposed to 3+ like usual) If that's the case than if the animation doesn't stay at an above decent level the entire way through I'll be disappointed. Though I'm sure some of their staff is prepping for future projects like Znt3 and Slayers 4...

the opening rocks! maybe it's just me but i'm very much impressed with the animation in the opening. The song sounds good as well. God, i can't wait for this to get subbed.

Yeah I like the OP animation as well. But we already know that JC Staff can do great OP's. Just check SnS 2nd OP.

Are the deviations from the source material adding to the story, or taking away? I know you guys were discussing the hand spring sensei did, where there others? Is it sticking to the script? I am going to see if they have the raw on nico yet...

Well I went on nico, they only had the second half (WTF?!) Well the comments were funny, but anyways. If you want to see it go here. Anyways they changed alot... I went back and read the first 2 chapters after seeing the second half of the 1st episode.

Well the anime has turned the action up to max. The action scences were so awesome, the escape from the hospital, was so cool. I did not think the characters would be that skinny... But I am really liking the series now. I will watch the whole thing no doubt. They sacrafice story to incorporate action, it is not a bad trade off. I am not disappointed at all. I like the action take on the story.

She was perfect playing the part of Miharu, seriously. I wouldn't have been able to recognise her if I didn't know beforehand, really well done providing her voice ^^ The episode sure does put naruto back in it's place (if it ever had one to begin with). This is how a ninja show should be. Cool, sleek and kick ass. I could ofc get better but heck thisi s only the start and the first fights were pretty cool to me even without the usual fireworks, fancy ninja techniques. The pacing could have been toned down a bit but I found it acceptable. Miharu apparently have some crazy power within him that he can't control yet (typical ) and now the bad guys are after him. I actually was looking forward to this series and it is good to see that it doesn't disappoint. The animation is crisp and consistant. The background is kinda like sketches which only adds to the beauty imo being abit different from the rest (though some may think it is sloppy). Miharu going berserk and those falling kanjis remind me of the matrix XD I was also surprised at the way they injected some comedy in some scenes. Song was pretty good, and the animation was typical for an ED. Sensei has a lover? Well, that was surprisingly good. I guess it's pretty much just because the action scenes were well done and exciting, since the story itself isn't exactly new and pretty typical. Miharu has this great power called "hijutsu" which is apparently involved with "shinrabansho" (If I'm correct, he means 森羅万象, which refers to all things in nature) and that the book/writings of this power is hidden in him. Everyone is seeking this power, and the protagonists have to protect him and have him stop this fighting between ninjas. And just as typical, ugly bad guys and bishonens on the good side. Miharu is a funny guy. Teasing the teacher around and just acting indifferent overall. And of course, at the end, a lot of the future characters are shown, including what seems to be the great bad guy who sent those ninjas in this episode. Overall first impressions, this has caught my attention and I'll watch the whole anime. Code Geass R2 is on the same day, so I can't really say I'll "look forward" to this show on Sunday, but this seems to be a good series. Preview: Twin-tail girl appears; to be honest, her character designs... are unappealing. Actually kind of ugly to me, but I'll live since it's not too bad. First off they left a great deal out. The guy whose arm good mangled by miharu's forrest magic (from the omnipotent thing), it was not shown in the anime, I guess it was too gory. Well they did not explain as much in the anime. They explain the power that miharu has in great detail in the manga, I am not sure they told miharu about it in the anime, so the viewer has no idea what it is (I think... I can not understand japanese, but I do not think they did). Well They mixed the hospital scene with the "re"attack scene. The nurse was present in the manga, she was not mentioned in the anime. In the manga he walks home and it is another day before miharu gets re-attacked. (oh yea the handspring sensei did in the trailer..he walked out of the wall in the manga). Well its getting too long, but they changed a lot more than I thought they would. Well the anime has turned the action up to max.
