If the K-On girls attended Haruhi's school, that'd be fine too.

Props to the money shot Nagato/Kyon footage at 11:42. I will buy DVDs if I can get more smooth animation like this.

This is probably the most interesting added episode of the "season 1 2.0 reboot extended edition". It clarifies the tensions between the various factions. Plus a lot of the new episodes really give Itsuki a boost in the texture of his character -- he's not just a Cheshire Cat: he has fears, makes mistakes, etc.

Soon we move onto a season of entirely new episodes?

I'm not sure if I'm ready for any new episodes just yet. I think they'd be smarter to give it a little time (maybe a year or two) and let the bad feelings from this season wash away first. Thing is if I didn't have incredibly mixed feelings about this franchise before I'm sure I do now.

Just not another three years. I don't think I could handle the complaints.

yeah, I won't deny that overall, my enjoyment of the franchise was considerably worn away by all the shenanigans of the last couple of years. I still enjoy it when they're actually telling the story but that aspect seems to get buried under the clowning.

Actually... I meant the "clowning" of the Endless Eight overloads but yeah, the sturm und drang in the Western forums was its own entertainment.

...hey, if everyone got so worked up during the day they were filming at Tsuruya's house, when did they finish the scene with Yuki talking to Itsuki?

One would guess after Kyon left the room.

Or on a different day after they got the cat.

Is anyone else a little wary of all this new subtext that was introduced? I never got the feeling there was so much going on underneath during the first season's take on this timeframe, it feels like it was injected after the fact and not planned out.

Actually it was always there, just buried in most of the later novels (Sigh was the second novel). You can't even tell this is going on...for the most part in "Episode 00" (which is from the sixth novel) One might say they originally picked the parts with less stuff going on back in 2006.

If you watch Episode 00 after this episode, a lot of things become clearer such as that bizarre conversation between Itsuki and Yuki had in the middle of the movie.

Watching Episode 00 again after seeing Sigh also makes some of those funny scenes a bit different...knowing that what you are seeing via the camera really happened in a few cases...or in some cases makes it funnier because you understand what was going on behind the scenes...or in the case of Mikuru's commercials...behind the camera.

I only realized how pissed I was at KyoAni for not animating the Disappearance when I finished reading the novel earlier. I originally wanted it because everyone said it was an insane story, but now I know that for myself. T_T

If they were to depict just a sample of all the wars and political intrigue surrounding Haruhi Suzumiya on the show, it'd definitely make up for Endless Eight.

Nice idea for an ova
Too bad we KNOW that they'll never give us this.

I'm still slightly disappointed that they didn't throw in 'the making of koi no mikuru densetsu' as an extra touch, just for the sake of some anime original spice. Even a few minutes would have been fun

I'd be all for this...

I think they mean actually showing what Koizumi hinted at with his line about "the battles we have fought behind the scenes" and so on.
