This is probably the most interesting added episode of the "season 1 2.0 reboot extended edition". It clarifies the tensions between the various factions. Plus a lot of the new episodes really give Itsuki a boost in the texture of his character -- he's not just a Cheshire Cat: he has fears, makes mistakes, etc.
Soon we move onto a season of entirely new episodes?

Actually... I meant the "clowning" of the Endless Eight overloads but yeah, the sturm und drang in the Western forums was its own entertainment.

Is anyone else a little wary of all this new subtext that was introduced? I never got the feeling there was so much going on underneath during the first season's take on this timeframe, it feels like it was injected after the fact and not planned out.

Actually it was always there, just buried in most of the later novels (Sigh was the second novel). You can't even tell this is going on...for the most part in "Episode 00" (which is from the sixth novel) One might say they originally picked the parts with less stuff going on back in 2006.

Watching Episode 00 again after seeing Sigh also makes some of those funny scenes a bit different...knowing that what you are seeing via the camera really happened in a few cases...or in some cases makes it funnier because you understand what was going on behind the scenes...or in the case of Mikuru's commercials...behind the camera.

I only realized how pissed I was at KyoAni for not animating the Disappearance when I finished reading the novel earlier. I originally wanted it because everyone said it was an insane story, but now I know that for myself. T_T

Too bad we KNOW that they'll never give us this. I'm still slightly disappointed that they didn't throw in 'the making of koi no mikuru densetsu' as an extra touch, just for the sake of some anime original spice. Even a few minutes would have been fun

...Especially if it leads to gunslingerboy!Koizumi. XD I think they mean actually showing what Koizumi hinted at with his line about "the battles we have fought behind the scenes" and so on. |
