Late to the party, so I picked up the game and managed to finish the game in Classic difficulty with a fair amount of save scumming. And the game felt kinda short, and the alien invasion progressed a bit too fast for my tastes. Still I have managed to keep all countries together.
Now I am making a game in Impossible difficulty, Ironman on, the following modifiers for Second Wave are on: Damage Roulette, New Economy, Not Created Equally, Hidden Potential, Red Fog, Absolutely Critical, The Greater Good, More Than Human. And with Absolutely Critical and Red Fog on, it is BRUTAL. I have been struggling to keep the four originals of the first mission alive, and I did. First month is closing in and Mexico, Brazil and Argentina are already lost. I am currently researching Alien Navigation to unlock the Nexus while I build satelittes. I have about four in queue. I have decided to name my XCom after politicians. The one female brit sniper is named Margaret Thatcher.

Had a go of X-Com and totally loving it! Altho I've not given it a fair go yet, initial impression is it does feel a maybe a little too stream lined compared to original. But can't say thats a bad thing really, works with how things play here. Either way really enjoying it.

Haven't posted for a long time, but since then I've done the following:
* Completed ALL Achievements so far (including Slingshot). * Finished an ALL Second Wave options checked game (yes, ALL options checked). And I'm currently on an Impossible Ironman run. Wheee.

"That is not dead which can eternal lie..."
Apparently that famous line is also applicable to that other XCOM game... you know, the origin story of the outfit we know and love.
It made like one Lt. Falcon in terms of being sent out for hard retraining, as elaborated in this video wherein the dev team drops knowledge on IGN.

Eurogamer - XCOM: Enemy Within listings spotted on Korean ratings board
21 more days till we know what Enemy Within is, but I can't wait! I'm banking on it being an expansion pack, since it seems way too soon for a sequel, and they already have a recently released iOS version.

PC Gamer - XCOM: Enemy Unknown’s Steam listing updates with mysterious achievements
This more or less confirms that Enemy Within will be either DLC, or judging from how many achievements are being added, a full-blown expansion.

INTENSIFYING HYPE
From the show floor on Gamescom as of this morning. Looks like we'll be seeing a humanoid robot squadmate? And the XCOM logo got a facelift there...

While I doubt 'cyberpsychosis' (as defined in R. Talsorian's CP2020 and FASA's Shadowrun settings) will make an appearance here, I cannot help but wonder if the 'Enemy Within' subtitle might imply a substantiation of my earlier musings about the possibility of XCOM having to contend with rogue terrestrial organizations (i.e. AIM and Hydra from the Marvel universe) on top of everything else...

Relevant to the subject. So, definitely some kind of new threat, but what?
