Romances from the girl's perspective?
I've seen quite a few romances where the guy is the main character, but what about a female perspective? I mean where the main character is female and we see most of their thoughts and such, not like just getting glimpses like in the male-centric anime.
Suggest anything as I haven't seen much anime (maybe 20 series total?). |

Bokura ga Ita. a nice romance anime about a girl and a boy that hook up early and face some hardship in their relationship.
Peach Girl... a triangle romance. Strawberry Panic (obviously, since it's yuri.. but the thing is that the focus is more on the more girly girl). I believe there are a lot more than this.. maybe other will add some. Addition: Kare Kano. The anime is cut abruptly though. |

Kannazuki no Miko, awesome series.
Third Strawberry Panic! I think Peach Girl counts too, but please bear in mind that the animation is... Kimi ga Nozomu Eien might fit in too, another awesome series.

Nana definitely have romance from the girl perspective... and a complex one too. I just hope they make the 2nd season soon..
You can also try Paradise Kiss... by the same author as Nana. And maybe Marmalade Boy and Hana Yori Dango. Last edited by Frans; 2008-06-16 at 09:01. Reason: addition |

Definitely Nana, among all the animes I've seen, this is the one that covered a girl's feelings most in depth. Furthermore, it shows you how two entirely different girls handle their romances and you hear a lot of internal monologue.
Victorian Romance Emma - in a way, since the main protagonist Emma is a maid, the story centers around her having a forbidden relationship with an upper-class gentleman, and the prejudisms she faces Full Moon wo Sagashite - rather touching and sweet, a girl's ambitions to be a singer due to a promise with a childhood friend |

Another vote for Lovely Complex, Kare Kano and the currently airing Itazura na Kiss - which stands out from many other shoujo romances as the story takes place over a rather long period of time (six years) and the relationship between the two leads progresses slowly from their highschool days towards a fruitful conclusion in their adulthood.

Yeah, no yuri in it as far as I know. I thought the art style was quite poor to start with, but it's definitely gotten better with time. I really enjoy the comedy too, one of the recent episodes had fantastic comedic timing. Do give it a try and see what you think.
